I am receiving repeated telephone calls from a debt collection agency called Richard Clark Law Office.  They are calling about a debt owed by my father in law.  They have called my home and private cell number. My understanding is contact of a third party for debt collection is illegal. STOP CALLING ME!
Calling from a Houston, TX number 832-504-9722. I called and told them to stop calling me as I am not the individual they are trying to reach.

Total scam!! do not call these guys back. They might as well be from nigeria. They are just phishing for people dumb enough or scared enough to give them their bank information.

It's a scam, could be from nigeria for all i know. They have no reason to call me, i have no debt. I even checked my credit just to be sure. TOTAL SCAM!!

Rude lady on the phone called asking for the head-of-household by first and last name. Told her he was absent at that time and what the call was regarding. She blurted out a question to the effect of 'do you know such-and-such neighbor?'. I said 'I'm sorry, who?'. She repeated her self and added 'They live at such-and-such (gave me a neighboring address); Do you know X, your neighbors?'. Her words were quick and seemed frantic.

I said 'Wait, so you're calling me to ask me if I know an X? Who are you? (called ID said 'Law Office')'.  She apparently became irritated as her tone became quite a bit snottier that it already was... She did not answer with her or her employer's names, but quickly repeated herself again asking if I new X.

I told her to explain why she was calling me, how she got our number, and why she thinks I would know this X or anything about them, and if I did... why would I tell some random stranger on the phone anything to do with anyone. She didn't reply. So, I then said 'Really? Okay. So.... Is there something I should be concerned about? I mean, are you calling to tell me a convict, creep, or pedophile lives next-door, or what? Why are you calling?'

She got snide and very sharply said ' - you're taking this way out of context - ' and hung-up on me.

!?!?! What the -?

We rent and don't know our neighbors by anything other than face, and the neighborly 'how-do-ya-do' said with a wave and a smile. I called and notified the community's leasing office about the conversation, reported them to the links listed previously in this comment forum, and blocked the number.

I hope they do not bother to call me again. It's unbelievable that these jokers can just look-up street names, and start calling folks that live on that street to question them about neighbors. If someone has a debt that they haven't paid, and the collector can't seem to track them down ... That is still not a justifiable reason to bother people that SIMPLY LIVE ON THE SAME STREET. I don't know the neighbors. I don't want to know them. AND I certainly would not talk to some random chick with a salty attitude about anyone, even IF I knew who X was.

How terrible that debt collection/""attny"" shysters can just harass people that have NOTHING to do with the person owing the debt other than renting a unit on the same street. What horse-dookie.

I read thru these 7pgs of post about this phone number 713-782-2700 because I got home and seen number on my caller id..they did leave message so not sure if they r calling for me or my husband or for someone not even at this address but either way after reading all these post about this number I surely will not answer if they call again..or answer and then ask them to please not call again..reguardless of what it is pertaining to because obviously they r not to be trusted!! so happy I googled the phone number to get some info...but after the reading it I am soooo over all these collections places with their threats!

My BF had these people call his sister (who lives in GA, us OH) his parents, whom he does not live with and OUR NEIGHBORS. I tried telling him that this is completely illegal but he's so lazy about things. They are trying to collect on a debt that they can't even collect on in the first place, but I highly doubt they care. I just think its embarrassing to have the neighborhood knowing your business.

One of the sleezy guy's name is Steve. Ext. 2209 from the same number everyone is receiving.

They've been calling me for days... waking me up in the morning.
Since it wasn't me they were calling for, they refused to give me anymore information. I stuck with my gut and didn't give em $HIT.

What it sounds like they do, they go online and search for names and see what real facts and information they can dig up. They found out where he lives, who he's married to and how old he is. All very vital pieces of information that would make you cave and start answering their questions. I simply took down their information and came straight to google to find out what was going on. I'm glad i found this posting because they were definitely sleezy. Time to warn my friends and family.

oh and after they were done talking to me, they pretty much told me that they would remove my number from their callback list since I wasn't the person they were looking for. Right...

I am trying to work out a deal with them but they are still asking for too much money from me.  I have other bills that I have to pay and if I give them all that they want, then I will be behind on my other bills.  I cannot seem to satisfy these people!  I asked them for a VOD and should receive it by the end of the week.  I can only pay at least until October, $100 a month.  They want $400 a month.  Can't do it.  So I don't know what to tell them.  At least $100 a month is something towards the amount I owe.

I just received a call from them.  They wanted me to pay $1200 up front which I do not have.  Then they wanted to make arrangements with me for $400 a month which I still do not have to give them.  I have other bills that I have to pay.  I asked them to send me a VOD.  I am only paying what I can pay and they will have to deal with it.  I want to pay it off but it has to be according to my finances, not what they want.  They must be crazy!

received a call from this telephone number, went on line to check, discover it is a scam. read the other comments, called noone answered.  thank goodness i did not have a conversation with them.they do not know my home phone just the cell number.

I have recieved calls from 713 area code from several persons that say they represent the law firm of Gunn and Clark.  They informed me that they are collecting for a credit company whose account had been settled legally outside of court for their fault.  The account was written off.  Now, 7 months later this supposed law firm Gunn and Clark is going to collect on it.  I have not recieved anything in writing either from the creditor since the letter stating the account was written off, or from the law office of G & C.  I have tried to find a law office by that name on the internet but all that comes up is  scam reports. This month a negative report was put on my credit report stating only by Collections Agency. I am going to record the next conversation and try to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and with my credit report.

I am getting calls from 713-782-2700 saying they are a law firm. They won't tell me why they are calling or who their client is. The caller then proceeds to list all my personal information and states that until I confirm my information, he won't tell me anything. Why would anyone give their personal information to a complete stranger?

this is how it is:
if they are calling you ANSWER it wont hurt. if they are asking for someone that you do not know, tell them you do not know that person and do not call here again. if they call again say it again they will stop calling you. if you do know that person give them the info that you do have because they will stop calling you and speak to the person that they need to speak to. if they are calling for you and you owe the debt your best bet is to answer and work something out they might not try at first but they do want to work out some kind of deal (if its not super low). dont get mad if they call family or neighbors or your job it is their job and they are doing what they were trained for its not against the law.

theres always good and bad collectors, just like theres good and bad anything. coming from someone thats been on both sides i know how it is. hope this helped some.

Got a call from them today looking for someone who has that same last name. Don't know this person as it is my married name and my husband doesn't know anyone by the name they requested. The caller insisted that we know who they are asking about. We don't even have nieces or nephews by this name. Finally hung up.  I expect them to call back soon making the same request. Same here, they say I owe HSBC, This is a debit I settle 2 yrs ago It was paid off for 1/2 that was owed and HSBC agreed to this. These bunch of shysters want to collect on the amount that HSBC wrote off. I have ask for proof of debit on the several times I have spoken with them. But they have yet to furnish anything. They say that it was mailed and someone must be getting out of my mail box.  Last time I spoke with them They were told unless they furnished proof of debit not to call me again. Then they said they would settle for 1/2 of what they say is owed now.  If I would do that the calls would end, but they would not send a proof of debit. I just hung up and blocked their number again, They keep getting new phone numbers. More than likely throw away cell phones.

I was left a message from Ms. Hawkins from the Richard Clark Law Office. I did about 1 hour after I heard the message. Once I reached her she asked for the last four of my social. I declined to give that info. If you have my name that should be sufficient. After all you just called an hour ago. She said "Well, the only way I can pull it up is by the last four of your social". Again, I said NO!  She said well this is the Law Office of Richard Clark. Again, I declined to give her the last four of my social. She said "OK, ma'am have a nice day", and hung up.  Was I to be impressed with the fact that she was calling from a "Law Office?" In this day of ID theft one must be extra vigilant. She should have had an alternate way to retrieve my name and info. As of now I still don't know what the matter was regarding.

I got a call from these people at 7:23AM. They left a voicemail looking for someone I don't know. I DO OWE DEBT (actually i owe more in debt than most people make in a couple years lol) but they weren't calling for me! strange. Anyways I called them back and they said they were attorneys from Gunn & Clark law offfices in which I started yelling that they are liars and they are a collection agency trying to collect a debt and that it is illegal to call people before 8am and that I am going to file a lawsuit against them. LOL. she got all scared and nice suddenly. I asked her "what attorneys call people before 7:30am? and she was quiet. I told her she needs to get a new line. I then said "NO COMMISSION FOR YOUUUUU!" and hung up. hahahaha.

I reported them to the Texas Attorney General 6 months ago and they still call me looking for someone that does not live here. Good luck.

I used to work for them they are scammers the managers are very rude and so is the lawyer they were  beating me out of money and im glad they fired me they worked me like a slave to consantly skip trace and harrass people on their death beds.all they care abiut is money and they will go as far as they can to get it.they do have the authority to sue and garnish wages and bank accounts so if any of u owe them protect your info by using prepaid cards.

Just a thought form the outside looking in, I work with Acutal clients looking to resolve debts and take proper responsibility, and had you guys Not broke your agreement and honored your debts, you wouldnt Get a call at All! Funny how Deadbeats feel as if they are owed the same courtesies as Customers ! hahaha.
As far them looking for someone else.. just tell them to 'Cease and Decist' in regards to your number. Simple as That.

Got a call from Richard Clark at this phone number saying they were collecting on a debt I am worried about their legitimacy.  I have bills in trusteeship and will be having the courthouse check with the validity of their being legal.  I dont want to put the money to them and have the credit agency not get what the are due.

This is the Law office of Richard Clark. Collection Agency. JERKS! The guy I talked to actually threatened me and said he was "dead serious".  All I asked was that they delete the other numbers they had (don't know how they got them... didn't even sound familiar) and he started yelling at me and telling me that it was a waste of time.  Never answering again.

They are calling me for someone else.  I ask them to stop calling they keep calling until you pick up the phone finally I got someone who refused the name and when i asked the address she would not give it to me ..

I got a call from these people and I have no idea of who they are.

Called, didn't answer and they did not leave a message, Caller ID says Law Offices. Guess if it was that important they would have left a message

They called me a month ago saying they wanted to collect from an HSBC debt with all the information. I paid them and they haven't sent me a receipt. I think they are not on the up and up. If i dont have a receipt by today I will file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office for fraud.. I have asked them three time and they do not send me paperwork. But they knew all the HSBC account information.
I would not trust these guys unless they have sent you paper work and you verify with your creditor that they have assigned the account with them.

We keep getting calls from these people and they reference a debt that has already been paid off. We confirmed with the bank that we don't have any other accounts with them, and this "collection agency" also refuses to give us documentation of the debt. Does anyone know how to write a Cease and Desist Letter, and where and to whom I should send it?
