This number has called three of my family members claiming that there are fraud charges against me and that I am about to be arrested. I called the number back and they say I am a reference to the party being sought out. When I said I didn't know the person they told me to disregard the call. The person calling is Rebecca Nyguen.

Why don't you stop being a loser "Travis"? We encourage everyone that comes to this site to pay their bills. Just not to low-life, illiterate scammers who have dreams of living in the fast lane....while the car they've never even owned is broke down on the side of the road. You're life is a joke "Travis". You're a joke "Travis".
You scam people in this country, "Travis", because they have money. You don't. You never will. You're a bottom feeding parasite. The only reason you have a "job" at all is because you're dirt cheap. For the price of one fraud in Buffalo, an enterprising western fraud can hire a whole call center full of you vermin. How does that make you feel "Travis"? You're renowned for being a good deal! Have a Big Mac on me "Travis". Tell that girl behind the counter that Gunnar sent you. Then dream of the day when you might make it to the west & have a real Burger!
Meanwhile "Travis", I'll be enjoying a nice, juicy, rare slab of Prime Rib. With some real horse-radish & a bottle of Chardonnay. Try to enjoy your miserable life "Travis". It's all you've got, it's all you'll ever have. If something changes "Travis", look me up. I'll be looking forward to seeing you. Until then.....

These people are kitchen-table debt scammers working out of someone's house.   They have no real business name-- not a corporation or partnership or LLC name; they are just individual semi-criminals who get together to run an extortion operation.  This Travis Dean persona is well known but so far as I know, nobody has been able to positively identify him or, for that matter, to  track him down to a concrete physical address.

Ignore him and these kinds of calls.

But, report him:  See:  https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Thank you Alfalfa! This Travis Dean guy claims to be with the Office of Investgation for Harris County. When I called Harris County, they told me no one in their office goes by the name of Travis Dean, nor did I have a hot check in their county. This guy is definitely a fraud. While I am attempting to report the caller to the Texas Attorney General's office, I am not sure what to indicate as the caller's name of business or address since none of it is true.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

These guys have been harassing me for at least 4 years. The calls become frequent at times and less frequest at other times. At first they would only call my work number and now they are calling mine and my husband's cell phone numbers. The bank they say I wrote a hot check to is the bank I still currently bank at and there is no record of this occuring. I returned Travis Dean's call and let him know he was all over the internet as a scam and asked if I could get the details in writing due to this so that we could resolve the matter. Travis then proceeded to interrupt me and say "yeah, yeah, yeah I know I'm all over the internet as a scam but I will still be here 5 days a week." and hung up on me and refused to speak to me. After repeated calls and being hung up on he then asked if I wanted to speak to their "Lead Detective" to which I replied, yes. This "Lead Detective" called me an a***ole and hung up on me as well when I asked for the details in writing. These guys are ludicrous and I just want them to sop calling! How can I report this through the proper channels?

Travis Dean called me threatening me that he was going to but my daughter in prison and he didnt care what happened to her children. I had twenty four hours to come up with the money in a money gram. Looked up his number on Google and found this called the sheriffs in my home state as I was in Fl. At the time. They told me to contact the Fl. Troopers and I contacted them was told nothing they could do. So what good are laws if they are not there to protect Us.

That jerk on the phone violated several laws - and yes, it is a scam.
1. Threatened jail time - NO - this would be a civil case.
2. Told the daughter's  information about a third party  (you).
3. Threatened your daughter  - "make it harder on her".
4. Claimed to be with the state of Texas.
5. Did you request the charge in writing?  It must be delivered in 5 days.

How "professional" - he "hung up the phone" on you when questioned.  If the charge was real would that happen?

Consider contacting the Texas State Attorney's Office (or the state in which you live) with your information.  You are not the only person with similar problems from scammers.

A "Travis Dean" claimed to be from the Texas' State Attorney Office, which was assisting a Virginia company in collecting a fraudulent check issued by my daughter. The amount owed was $669.00, including the accumulated interest.  When I questioned him, he said "... your little daughter" was about to go to jail if I did not get her to the phone right a way." When further challenged, he said ".. if I did not cooperate, dammit, they would make it even harder on her. "  I replied that my daughter was an adult, did not live in my home, did not live in my state. When I received a similar call a few months ago from Kansas, my research determined it was a scam. He hung up the phone.

My daughter did have credit problems in Virginia about 9 years ago that were fully satisfied.  These scams are using information that is available on the Internet to find and pressure parents and other relatives to make credit card payments.
