called with threat of jail for a bad check,demanding money by certain time to prevent further action against me

Got a call first from someone claiming they were from the Sheriff's department.  They wanted times that I'd be home so they could serve me papers.  Gave me this number to call for more information.  Pure BS.

they served me with paperwork to appear in court now I have a court date! Great just what I need prosecution on bad check charges. called them back to see if they could work with me was advised once I got served no longer an option

Amber the name it says on the paperwork is Lane and Associates with the same phone number. I will let you all know what happens I go to court in two weeks on the 2nd of June

this company called my parents saying I had listed them as contact info & I had to be in court in 24 hrs. Left name Lane Associates. I tried to call them back with the ref # they gave my folks and noone even bothered to answer. I'm in process of bankrupt court due to auto accident (not my fault) and lawyer wanted me to call for info of who this was for/from, got no phone pickup.  Any ideas?

OK! As soon as I posted the company called ME back. They are from Asset Capital Management. They buy bad dept and use Lane & Associates to process/serve their potential debtors. Company Address is 17291 Irvine Blvd, Suite # 304, Tustin, CA 92780. Their 800 number is 1-866-769-0657. I figure this may help some trying to figure it out.
