long distance america scam trying to claim they can lower your phone bill

This number calls me roughly 3 times per day. The phone rings, I pick up, and no one is there. I here a click a seconds after I say hello. Very irritating.

After a number of calls and rude/nasty reps from 714 364-4473. I call the local Placentia, CA police station so they could do an investigation. The police told me to make a complaint to my local police department and have them send to complaint to them. The Placentia police department said they would do an investigation on the the number and the company!

Got the same call today about reducing my cost.  I have Verizon Fios (bundle).  I expained that to them and he said my bundle package would be reduced.  Like a fool I'm afraid I got scammed.  I asked alot of questions, which he had a good answer for. They switched me to a third party person to verify and I answered YES to the questions.  
How can I cancel this before I get a bill.

got a call for the first time today and they address me by my last name and hang up

I get several calls from this number.  Never a message left.

They called and asked to speak to me about a bill which isn't even in my name. I'm curious to know...how many of you all have Comcast phone service?

most VOIP services allow you to selectively block a single phone number and also give them a special message if you want, exactly what you're looking for.

When asked who was calling, woman hung up.

QUIT CALLING!

Woman said she was with a company called American Select. TOTAL SCAM. They are not associated with your current provider. Do not give them any info!

Called today, had my name all screwed up.  They said they were going to lower my phone bill next month.  I told them I was moving and did not want my phone changed.  He said ok and hung up.  Sounds like a phone slammer looking to deceptively change the account.

This is a scam and they are trying to slam you. They called at least 10 times finally made contact 2/19/10. A women said could save me about 40% on my land line phone bill, asked what company are you with she hung up.

GOT A CALL FROM THIS COMPANY ASKING IF I RECEIVED THE MEMO ABOUT LOWERING MY LONG DISTANCE BILL AND THAT THEY WERE THE PROVIDER FOR MY COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY. I STARTED ASKING QUESTIONS AND THEY HUNG UP ON ME.

This is a fraudulant long distance company. They Robo called me; against the law, and a human picked up. They said that they were going to lower my phone bill next month. They expected a positive response which they interrupt to be accepting their service.

Tell them what they can do with their long distance; I did; and never respond to them. I tape my calls so they would be prosecuted by my AG if they switch me.

Called and asked for me, as in "Can I speak with Donna", I said yes, how can I help you? Then they hung up. I then tried to call this number back from caller id- and bnio business name or person was given, only a voice mail, to which I did not leave a message. This is obviously not a legitimate business and needs to be tracked.

Call every day for last several days, identifying themselves as "The Phone Company."

They state I'm not using all my long distance minutes, therefore I qualify for a reduced rate. They will lower my costs from 12 cents per minute to 9 cents per minute. They will also give me a free phone. I just need to give them some information....

#1 - I know who my long distance carrier is, and it is NOT "The Phone Company."
#2 - I am already under 9 cents per minute for long distance calls
#3 - they are calling every day despite being told no
#4 - they are pushy on the phone
#5 - my underage children are answering and they are doing the same thing to them. I was notified today that I was to expect a phone call tomorrow from "the phone company" about reducing my rates, my free phone.

This is a scam and needs to stop.

Has called numberous times, But no voice, Got a responce today 12/24/09. She wanted to speak with my daughter.  I told her that she was at work and could I take a message and what was this about. ( They have called SO many times before.) She said that it was about this phone and hung up. About 2 hours later she called again and as I was saying she was still at work she hung upon me as I was speaking. Well I called the number right back and a crazy answering message came on and I let her have it.I am tired of these calls. Half the time when you say Hello there is no responce............She doesn't offer her name or company either.

This is crazy at least 3 calls per day!! Many different times of the day!
All from 1-714-364-4473. No one speaks. Machine will now be on! If this call is coming from AT&T and I find out, I will drop them immediately!!!

Could use a yet uninvented phone firewall to selectively put 'certain' numbers on canned-music (indefinitely). Asterisk may be of help.

called saying they were going to lower my phone charges as I was using
less than $50 per month in long distance along with also removing some
other charges implying that they were with the carrier I use.  At the
end they say my bill will be the same only another name will be on the
2nd page.  Then they ask if this is ok.  They intend to make you think
it is your carrier calling.  So don't half listen and say ok and thank
you - BE SURE TO TELL THEM NO THANK YOU (IN WHATEVER LANGUAGE YOU CHOOSE)
I THINK THIS IS CALLED SLAMMING!!
