Wow this is so crazy.  I just went thru the same thing.  This guy calls himself Atty Scott D Miller.  Also a very heavy accent and a woman who answers the phone for him is so "pleasant".   I'm sitting here waiting for the police now.  LOL   The name and number from where they call etc.  Marchant Grace Law Office, Fullerton, CA
714-888-5616.  I got a call from a police dept.  but was not home.   So I called them back. Guess what.  They have never heard of  me.   And the police dept is about 1 hour from where I live.   So I am going to my local dept. to file a complaint.   How does this stop.

Hey do what I did. I keep getting this call daily on my cell phone from the number +7144000504. I"ve finally took action. I called my cell phone provider. They turned off my voice mail, and I added the number to my reject list on the phone. No more harrassing calls from these scam artist's. They can stick it up their rear ends.

Holy Cow, I thought I was going to jail.  I went as far as going to the police station.  They had all my personal information told me I had to appear in court  at 11am.  If I failed to show up I would be arrested by the police. I said this is a scam, they told me that I failed to pay back a loan from Quick Cash Advance.  I never had a loan from Quick cash advance.  I asked for the original amount, said they could not release that information.  I even went through my last few bank statements looking for extra money that I might have missed.  I found nothing!  The police department assured me that the police would never arrest me for a debt unpaid unless I had murdered someone for the cash.  This guy transfered me to his superior when I told him that I would like to speak to someone that I could understand.  I think he put me on hold and I got the same guy back on the phone.  What a jerk!

Nothing deters these payday collection scammers quite like an informed consumer like Chris. His Fed pals are indeed tracking this problem from my understanding. From the few available discussions of Merchant Grace, it seems they are fond of using the "prime suspect" line, which is innovative on their part if entirely too stupid. They might either claim to be from California or Texas .... ironically two of the few states with very strong collections laws. I haven't looked at their other rotating front names; I doubt I need to.

My guess is yet another fake payday loan collector calling from overseas. Their threats are empty and their rude tactics are illegal under federal law, the FDCPA. Do not argue with them, do not comply with their demands. Show them you know you have rights they are trampling.

Try demanding a mailing address or a full business name. If the caller fudges his answer or you cannot verify it, it's likely a PDL sham. Challenge their horse puckey threats; they often make rude remarks and hang up. As the bullies like to hassle people at workplaces, advise your employers and coworkers these calls are garbage.

The usual response to such a runaway debt collector stateside is to send a cease-comm letter and file suit. If you find a valid US address, please do so. Fierce consumer lawyers will leap at the chance to run such a case on contingency. However, being mostly outside U.S. borders and having no discernable addresses, these particular criminals rarely make it possible for individuals to punish them.

Dude calls saying he is representing some law firm and that I am a prime suspect in a money laundering scheme using payday advance websites, and that if I did not pay an undisclosed amount immediately (He wouldn't say what it was) that a local law enforcement officer would be at my home tomorrow to arrest me. I repllied...Ok, jack A**...Number one, if you represent a law firm you are aware that you don't call someone and tell them they are a suspect in anything. And number two, you don't call and threaten to have someone arrested if they don't pay an amount to be taken off the prime suspect list. The law just don't work like that. Well, then his story changed to I owed some elaborate amount to a payday advance website. Again, he threatened to have me arrested if I did not immediately agree to terms and conditions and pay this amount. And again, I called him out on it. I told him, there again, if he did represent a law firm he would know that non payment of any type of debt is not a criminal offense. It is a civil action, and I would have to be summonsed to court and payment arrangements would have to be set up. But these guys were relentless. He kept on and on and insisted that I was going to be arrested on today's date. Well, being from southeast Tennessee, I have very little patience for antics like he was pulling. I then proceeded to tell him what a son of a b**ch he was and that if the law showed up to arrest me, once I whipped their a**, I was coming to whip his.

Now just to let you know what you will encounter when and if you have recieved a call such as this, these guys are Indian. Indonesian. Not native American. You can't hardly understand what they are saying. Mainly due to all the background noise. Also they talk in a very low tone. Now, one more thing...They called out my banking information, adress and SSI. If they do, be smart. Don't acknowledge that any of that information belongs to you. Drill them as hard as they drill you. They will say and try anyhting to get the upper hand and gain and advantage over you. I hate to say it, but I just went off on a cussing spree. And they will call your employer. These guys think they have got it figured out, but if you're real smart, you'll prove to them that they don't.

If you get a call like this, call your local law enforcement agency. They should advise you what to do from there. Myself, I actually plan on taking it a step further. I have a couple of friends in the FBI. So I am going to call them and see what my options are. The people that will call you from this number are located in Anaheim, CA. 714-400-0504 is what they will call you from. Google it. It will give you all the info.  Apparently it is a single line only. Good luck to you in your attempts in trying to stop these guys and like I said, be smarter than they are if they call you. Trust me, It wasn't hard at all.

I too began getting calls a few days ago from a man with a very heavy accent, lots of background noise, crackling phone line, and lots of static.  He couldn't tell me anythng as to why he was calling me.  Then he put a woman on the phone by the name of Mary Thomas with Merchant Grace Law Office.  She explained that my case was sent there to them for collection purposes and legal resolution for a loan I had take with Quick Cash.  Here is the funny part, she stated that Quick Cash had deposited monies into my account and then tried to do a reverse and take those monies back.  She mentioned that they could not and therefore were seeking criminal charges against me and that I had to be in court the next morning.  I stated that I had no such loans with any Quick Cash company or anything of the sort for that matter.  I requested she send me all information via email and I would take it to my attorney.  She stated that the sheriff would be at my place to pick me up.  I again stated that I had no interactions of monies, calls, or emails pertaining to their complaint.  IF she dared to go ahead and provide proof of such transactions to do so.  She hung up on me!  Have not heard from them since.....

Tina,
I did the same thing I just had to call back to see if they were for real or just taking people information from off line.  That same woman you talk to did me the same way when I told her they were a fraud, she said don't call them no more and go to HELL.  I discovered what is happen, the other day my cell phone rang and advice me to go to the website of eaglepayloans.com and enter in my information and I will receive 1400 in my bank account in the next day, well the next day guess what this number(714-400-0504) keeps calling me and stating that I owe them money and they are from a law firm called Merchant Grace Law Firm.  Since then I have contacted the Attorney General's Office to file a Complaint against this crazy talking people.  This kind of mess makes you dislike foreigners when they call.

Yeah, I was called several times, man with heavy accent, alot of background noise and hard to understand.  In  a nut shell the guy has all kinds of personal info claiming I took a loan from Quick Cash and did not pay it back.  He also claims that he is going to have the sheriff come and arrest me in the morning and is going to fax stuff to my work.  He claims to be a attorney Kevin Barker from Merchent Grace Law firm.  He asked me if I had an attorney and when I said no he asked how I would take care of myself.  Told him I don't need an attorney, did not do anything wrong and then told him to go ahead and try to do something.  Come tomorrow morning I will be contacting the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and filing a complaint as well as contacting my local police department.  Also anyone having same problem might want to contact your local FBI espically if the person calling is threatening you with legal matters that they cannot prove.

I just recived a call from a man named "Rob Thomas" basically saying the same thing that i made a pay day loan and did not pay it back. He left threatning voicemails on my phone and basically told me that he was calling to verify my address because a warrant was issued for my arrest and they were on their was to come and get me. LOL! How stupid can you be? Since when did the police start calling criminals warning them they were on their way? He also told me i had a court date set for Monday morning but i was never summonded or notified. From the begining of the conversation I knew it was a hoax because it didn't make sense. After doing my research i found out for sure it was a scam and I called back and a female answered and refused to let me talk to "Rob Thomas" until I told her i wanted to make a payment. When he got on the phone i cursed him from A to Z  and told him if  the calls continue that i would be filing charges against him for harassment and i haven't got a call back since. At the end of the call he said "People like you are stupid". REALLY?

I got the phone call as well! Guy had a strong Indian accent. Told me that the police would be at my house to pick me up when i get home. Told me that an affidavit was signed for my arrest. Told me that I took out a payday loans and never repaid it, which I have NEVER done! He could not let me talk to someone without an accent. The only difference between me and the other victims is that I am the police! Lol, I had already heard about the scam but didnt expect to be a victim! The guy that I was speaking with said that he was a lawyer. I explained to him that obviously he did not know the law. He stated to me that an affidavit had been signed for my arrest. Wrong, an affidavit is signed for probable cause in a criminal matter. A pay day loan is a civil matter and an affidavit is not signed for an arrest, an arrest warrant is. He then got very ugly with me because i knew the law and I dropped alot of "f" bombs. I proceeded to tell him what he can do with his affidavit. The calls stopped immediately! The internet has a program called caller I'd faker where anyone can put in a phone number and when they call u, the number that they have programmed in will show up on the caller ID to appear as though they are calling from that area! These people probably are calling from another country so beware! Very important things to do if u get a call: file a police report if they have any of your personal info( may want to file one either way), call experian and a fraud flag will be put on your credit report! Experian will contact the other credit bureaus. If they have any bank account info call and put a hold on the account! This will cover if they try to use any of your info! Hope this helps!

This is the online HOAX of the year. I ignored the phone calls from this number until today when this guy with a heavy accent left me a really creepy message basically yelling at me that I will go to jail and I should return the call immediately. He said he was an attorney. I researched this whole thing and after I knew who I was dealing with, I called the number back and spoke with this woman who had an equally heavy accent. She said she was an attorney as well, and told me that I have taken a cash advance and failed to pay it back so they would send the cops at my place the next day. I was like ok...for an attorney you should know that not paying back a loan is a civil matter not a criminal one so even if that were true, cops would not get involved in this; however, impersonating attorneys is a federal offense...so are you really an attorney? She immediately hung up after that.
