They've been calling me for a couple of weeks now.  They never say what the "debt" is but they've said they were going to send someone to my home or office to serve me with papers and that I should call them to arrange an appropriate time to "avoid embarrassment".  They just called me again at both my cell and my office (with the office they gave a different callback number - 714-519-6153).  They said they're coming today to serve me, but so far no one has come on the previous two times they said they were coming so I expect this is just more of the same.

These vile succubi ALMOST bilked me for $1000. They called my work saying that they had a debt from way back (making whatever they were claiming fall under a time-barred debt catagory in my state and therefore, defunct) and demanded that I settle immediately or they would serve papers to my place of employment.  They said they had mailed notification to my former address and I told them I had not lived there in over a year. They said that wasn't their problem and that notice had been given.  I had just gotten divorced from my first wife back then and could not recall whether or not we had some sort of credit debt outstanding.  It did not show on my credit report (however, a credit inquiry from some ghost company had been made without my permission.  I assume it was this lot of demons.)  I seriously considered taking a gamble on "settlement" vs. the $9500 they claimed I owed considering they said that their judgement would have my wages garnished.  So nervous, I actually took out a loan to cover their $1000 "settlement"  just in case.  Meanwhile,  I did more investigation and the Attorney Generals Office in my state said that they had been receiving quite a number of phone calls about this type of activity lately and that it was a SCAM.  They advised that I ask for a mailing address for the company (Davis & Associates) and if they refused to give one hang up and file a complaint to their office under the Federal Debt Collection Fairness Act. I called the number and NO ONE would give me ANYTHING except evil attitudes and bilious behavior.DO NOT LET THESE JERKS BULLY YOU. Demand proof of debt in writing (certified mail) and the address where official correspondence can be sent to them.

Your an idiot and you probably work for them. They are calling me on something on a debt I never had same as all the other people on here, how are you the only one having a debt and that they "saved your credit" You are full of BS. Get a real job!!!

These guys have called me twice now, both times I let the call go to voice mail. Attorneys / debt collectors do not give you a heads up that you are going to be served with court documents that should be the second clue, the first clue is calling from a blocked number which tells me they are calling from their personal cell phones and not the office if there is even an office. If any one does have debt and they are not sure what it is they are paying have the company mail the notices to you, that way it gives you a chance to verify all the information. Never make a payment over the phone or the internet to some one who is demanding payment.

This is a SCAM.  They contacted my husband at work and threatened him from a credit card debt back in 2001.  Said it was now an outrages amount but would settle for $1000.  We did not open a credit card in 2001.  So we searched his credit report and contacted the credit card company nothing was showing.  We asked Davis and Associates for an account number and they became very irate and said they were only obligated to give the last four digits.  When asked them for a address they wouldn't give us one.  This all seemed a little shady.  Just like other posting were the contact person was rude and abrupt and constantly putting us on long hold times.  Contacte the Attorney General's Office in my state and also contacted FTC.  Actually spoke with a person at the AGO and he stated right away this was a scam.  If anyone is interested go to the FTC website and look under fake debt collectors.  It gives information on what to ask the "debt" collector and has a lot of useful information

this  is obviously scam! i've been eagerly awaiting the papers "they're going to serve me" for 2 months, funny how nothing ever shows up. the person who posted above as  "toby" is full of crap, he/she is obviously part of the scam and has written here to try and convince others it is legit. funny how the caller always refers to 'they'  who exactly is 'they" what a bunch of scum. don't fall for this. if you find they've dug up old info from on your credit report that could be a very old debt, check with the statute of limitations on debt in your state. this is likely how they're choosing their victims, finding outdated debt and claiming they own it it now..total farce.

I just got the same call for my husband from a Scott Taylor, saying my husband owed $3994.33 on a Menards card from 2000?? but they would settle for $999 in the next half hour haha!  Not happening, where do I report these people?

I got a call from that same number... it turns out that i have a credit card when i was 30 forgot all about it and forgot to pay it.... After checking that are a real company and the settled the debt instead of filing a law suite against me.   they are a Company that buys debt from bank to sue or settle on.  I was very lucky not to get
a Judgement against me.  I don't care what you people say..... they saved my credit.....

These are thr rudest ,most hateful people I have ever encountered.No matter how many times you tell them no or you have a wrong number or you have the wrong information they will still call and try to scam you. Beware of the scamers and the trash talkers.

My husband just recieved a phone call from this blocked number saying to call 714-519-6153, they needed to serve a summons and complaint.  I googled their name and came up with this page.  We spoke with our lawyer, he said it didn't sound right, no law offices will hunt you down to serve you.  So sounds like a scam!

How are they getting cell numbers?

I just got a call from them. And they went from saying they owned a debt of mine (which I don't recall) and that I owed $7800, but they offered to settle for $1185 if I paid in the hour. I told them I didn't have anywhere near that, they dropped it down to $799. By then, I already came to this site and told them I had things I needed to do and hung up on them.

I got a call from this same # (714-519-6153 Davis & Assoc.) which was restricted and it also stated that I needed to call them before I was served at my place of business or home.  I googled the number and the name and that is when I discovered these posts. I figured it was a scam but I wasn't sure untill I read these posts.  I am NOT calling them back!  THANKS!!!!

This number called me with a blocked number and left this number on my house phone. I called back and the woman was the rudest person on earth. She stated I owe money to a bank that I have know idea what she is talking about and threatened me with legal action if I didn't pay. Why is someone in California calling me in Florida with blocked numbers telling me to pay or else I'll be served with a summons. In the end she hung up on me. I believe this to be a scam. I'll await for the summons if one comes. Being threatened with court does not scare me.

I got a call that went straight to voice mail stated that there was a summons awaiting me concerning the property where I live and that they need to get me these papers.  The guy instructed me to call Davis and A**. at this number7145196153 and gave me a case number.  when i called they were trying to get 1500 out of me and when i tried to find out how I owed 1500,  they got very rude and loud. I of course hung up on them i them went to check my credit report and found the they have some how made and inquiry on it!!  Am very tempted to call them back and harrass them and mess with their minds.  This is a scam it didnt fell right from the beginning I'm glad that I didnt give them any money.

I got a voicemail from someone saying they were from The Clerks office.  They had legal papers to deliver to either myself or my lawyer.  Message said I needed to call Davis and Assoicates at 714-519-6153 to verify where to have me served with the papers and to reference a case number.  
I called 714-519-6153 and got a lady who told me I owed over $4000 from a Best Buy credit card in 1996 and I had to pay at least $1000 over the phone to stop legal action. She kept talking quickly and putting me on hold so I couldn't ask her questions.  It was all so fast and scary when they say, we are going to serve you legal papers.  They dupped me out of $100 on my debit card and pre dated another $900 for 3/1/13.  My bank transaction shows CC PLATINUM PARTNERS & A** LA HABAR CA.  I called my counties clerks office and they did not call me.  So, this is a SCAM!  I had my debit card killed so they couldn't get anymore money and filed a dispute on the $100 they already took.  Be aware!  I have seen a few posts from people with the exact same story from the same company!
