This is a SCAM, you cannot be arrested for not paying a debt, there is no debtors prison in the US.  Do not pay these people, they are scammers.

i received a call on my job on several ocassion from officers saying i will be arrested and place in a holding before i go before a judge if i did not sent 700.00 with the reference number on it and fax a letter that i would like to settle this out of court. i reported this to my lawyer who then called this number and he received no answer but he advise not to send any money to this jeffrey steward person and this was a scam. i reported this to the police and the newspaper to let other people know that this is a scam. i am a working mother with two little children and they also told me that my children will be taking away from me. i fax them a letter and told them to contact my attorney i am following my attorney advise. the name of the company they used was cashnet.com they identify themselves as officer of the court and jeffrey steward as the lead investigators they nearly scared me to death but my attorney brief me on these people i pray that they get caught very soon.

I received a call today from this number telling me that I would be arrested and put in jail tomorrow if I didn't come up with at least $755.00 by Friday.  I had to give them my debit card number or they would send the police to take me to jail.  The guy said his name was Jeffrey Steward but talked very fast and with an Indian or Pakistian accent.  I was scared to death until my friend looked this up on the computer.  These people are scam artist and now I am calling my bank and canceling my debit card so they cannot steal my money.  He threatened my lively hood, my job and my home.  Don't be fooled by owing a debt they cannot put you in jail for that.

All of the above happened to me also. Foreign person, threats, calling my work, etc.  I checked with the company they stated I owed money too and was told this was not how they operate. I have at this point made a report to the police dept. and turned it over to our attorney. I was told that if they contact my employer again it will be handled by law enforcement.

I received a call from this number today. Actually the number he called me from was 000-012-3456, but this is the number he left on my voicemail. He called my cell phone and he called me at work. Some guy with an Indian accent (but he said his name was John Williams) and a lot of noise in the background left a voicemail saying I or my attorney needed to call him back about something important. So I called back and the guy kept trying to get me to verify my information like my address and my employer and my social security number. I kept trying to get him to tell me the name of the company and he eventually said it was a law firm called Crime Division. He said there was going to be a lawsuit filed against me at 2:00 because of some payday loans that I didn't pay back from Cashnet. I told him I didn't know what he was talking about. He said they have sent me emails. I said I didn't get them. I told him if there was really a lawsuit being filed against me then I would get an attorney and have my attorney call him and then he hung up the phone. Ten minutes later I called the number back and it wasn't working.

I looked around the internet and it seems this is a scam to get people to send money for loans they don't even owe. I guess they get your info from a payday loan company but they really are not affiliated with them.

Zelda - Terrorist threats are illegal in this country.  You should report this number and guy to the police.  Let them track these people down.  It is a crime to threaten you this way.

Debt Collector
Today I called back and told them I knew they were a scam/fraud company.  The guy on the phone sounded Middle Eastern instead of the usual Indian/Pakistani.  He said his name was "Jeffery Stewart".  When I told him that I knew they were a fraud company and that I reported them to the several agencies, he said that he knew several people in the Taliban in the U.S. and that Americans were scum and that we were pieces of s*** who killed foreigners and he didn't care what I thought of him.  He then said not to be surprised when I come home and there is an "IED" (Improvised Explosive Device).  So now I am being threatened with the Taliban and death.

I got in to work today and there was a voice message on my work telephone saying, "Please have your attorney contact us.  Do not ignore this phone call, as you are in a very serious situation." Then gave a number and said his name was "Mark Taylor", even though he had a pretty heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.  Then said something about how I was going to be arrested at 2:00 pm today.  He sounded very adamant, upset and angry.

I've never been arrested, and aside from parking tickets, never had any trouble with the law.

I was sure it was a scam, but it still made me panic and freak out.  So I called him back on my cell phone and he said, "You took out a loan and you never paid it back and so officers are going to come to your house at (insert my correct address), blah blah blah and take you down to the courthouse."  WTF?  So I'm freaking out, and saying, "What loan?" (thinking maybe student loans, which I am currently paying back, but maybe there's one they didn't consolidate?  Or maybe a stupid payday loan from years ago, but everything was paid years ago, so WTF?)  So I'm saying, "Well what do you need for me to do?  How much money do I need to send you to not have that happen?" because I'm thinking if this is a scam, that's what they want, and let's cut to the chase and find out what he is trying to scam out of me.  He doesn't respond to that.  Instead he kept asking me to verify my social security number, which he has correctly stated (I did not verify it) and then he kept saying, "Do you have an attorney?" My phone was crackling, so I tell him I'll call him back.

Anyway, I go back to my desk and I look up the number that he gave me and this came up:  http://www.ripoffreport.com with the number all over it.

So I called him back and said, "Hi, I just spoke to my brother-in-law, who is a criminal attorney.  In fact I called him and he looked up your telephone number and said that your company is doing illegal activity and..." CLICK!  He hangs up on me.  So I called him back like 10 times trying to finish what I wanted to say, which was some b***s*** about what my attorney was going to do or say when he called (just to get him to stop calling me).  But the phone would ring a few times and then "click", get hung up on.

He said that he was "from the government" and then he said that he was "from the state".  He also claimed to be an attorney.

I have received a call from a Jennifer at this company for a payday loan which I had defaulted because I had loss the info for. Everyone from this company has a strong accent and they talk extremely fast and it makes it difficult to understand. They claim an officer of the court will be serving me "tomorrow" and they hang up. I had asked for a call back number and they gave me a phone number that eventyually went to a fax number. Eventually they called me back and I told them that when I called it rang to a fax , which I got the response, "Its not a fax number stupid." I am in works with the FTC to figure out what exactly is going on. I have called the original ceditor and they gave me the correct number and name of the collector that has my account. Dont be fooled by this company.
