A John Marsh called threatening to arrest at home but the man did not leave a name or Ref# etc.  When calling back let John Marsh know he just called gave number and asked him who he was calling for he asked my name I asked him who was he calling for and he hung up on me.  Tried calling back told him someone called my cell phone with a threatening message and I was hung up.  The man that answered said it was Attorney John Marsh and he did not have an accent but the message that was left on the cell phone Attorney John Marsh had an accent.

Ok, I have received the same call as all of you... I will tell you this and I have the background to back up what I'm saying. I was a debt collector for 7 years, and I know for a fact that under no circumstances can a person be arrested for a personal or business debt... The only debt you can be arrested for is a debt owed to the court, I.e. Traffic ticket, court fines, and any charges due to the court. And even on that it takes a long time to get to that. If you take the call and they state that there is a law suit against you, ask them when they sent out the "order to show cause"? If they say it's in the mail, then you can say to them that you will let the police know that you have not revived that, so there has been no court order for arrest at this time because you have never had a court day for sentencing.... Most likely they will hang up... Any how over all this is a bunch of BS and it's a scam... Don't let them fool you. Good luck all

Says her name is Stella Woods and I'll be arrested at my home should I not return her call.  Doesn't say what the call is in reference to, nor does it give her company's name, an account/reference number to call back with, etc.  When you do return the call, there is no answers or busy.  Please stop these people from calling hard working persons threatening the welfare of one's life!  It's just sinful and they need to be stopped!  Thanking you in advance.

Yes, I checked my messages and received the same call.  First of all, it's against to law to leave messages regarding one's arrest, complaints, etc., we should have received something in the mail in regards to a lawsuit, etc.  If this is legit, I would be totally and completely shocked as I work in the law field and no better that you are to received lawsuits (complaints, etc.) in the mail - meaning you would have to be served according to the laws.

I got the same message with a twist:  They said they were going to have  me arrested!  Well, this got me scared so I called and there's either no answer ever (I  tried 5 times and held on for 1/2 hour) or I got a message that all lines were busy.  I,t's a scam, I'm sure, because nobody gets arrested for a debt.

I got the same exite message "  from Stella Wood at 714-602-3772.  She left a message telling me that it is my "final court warning" and it is pertaining to a motion filed against me and I will be arrested at home or at work".  That is all the information she left.  I I really wish the FBI would catch these people (foreigner's) for trying to steal money and upset hardworking people. If you notice they are NEVER americans so you can bearly understand them.
She also never leave the name of the Company she is calling from or on behalf of.

My daughter Eliana called me at 1 am very frightened because she heard that her brother Daniel had just received a voice mail by an unknown man who said they were going to go to the house to arrest him and put into jail. I just remember I had just seen a news about another scam and I told her to go to bed, to ask GOD to tale care of all of us, and that I would look into that in the morning. And I just found this website. Teh call was from 714-602-3772 and they claimed to be lawyer. The curious thing is that we all live in Florida and the call was from California.

By the way, the news can be seen in this video: It is dramatic because this kind of thing have already caused people to commit suicide: http://abcnews.go.com/US/prescription-drug-sc ... ory?id=16116808

These idoits called me.  I called back from a different number they kept hanging up on me.  I asked them who they were and their address.  All they would say is that they are from cyber crime division of a law office, located in Orange County California.  First of all the law enforcement would be dealing with crimes not attorneys office.  Report them to the FTC!

GOT THE SAME DAMN SCENERIO TODAY. Just got my phone number two weeks ago so no one has it and I don't have any type of debt in collections. You must be served law suit papers or any other type of court papers. So the court and petitioner know you recieved the papers along with court dates, and to give you a chance to reply to them.

Tell the caller to cease and desist. This is an order or request to halt an activity (cease) and not to take it up again later (desist) or else face legal action. The recipient of the cease-and-desist may be an individual or an organization. Cease-and-desist letters are also known as "infringement letters" or "demand letters".[1]

We received a call from this number this morning from an "attorney" asking for the last owner of my number at 7:20 this morning. When we said that this wasn't his number anymore they just hung up on me. So I called back and asked them to remove my number from their system because I've had this number for 6 months now and the guy looked up on caller id and said no they were looking for me. When I told them they had not called for me he started cussing at me calling me a "B" and to suck his "D***"
I really couldn't believe him. I'm still angry and shaking. These people are a joke.

They do because they can. These extortionists are very convincing, which makes their scam so successful---in addition to the fact it is next to impossible to track them down because they are either using disposable cell phones or spoofing numbers and the names of firms utilizing VOIP to make them appear they are legitimate.Your best protection against becoming another victim of these criminals is to educate yourselves with the following facts (straight from the FTC's website):

A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
