I own a small business, and we have a dummy phone number listed on our webpage with AT&T, to track how many calls are being referred from that site.  We got a call from (714) 682-8397 on the dummy number, rather than our main business line. So I know they are gathering numbers off the web as well as wherever else to do their spamming, becuase that's the only place our dummy number is listed.

These people are calling unsolicited on my unpublished work number - I'm extremely cautious about who I give my work number to and have no idea how they got my number.

As far as how they get your number, I think they get it from your phone service provider! I had a prepay phone that only myself and two other people knew the number to. Within three weeks I was getting spam calls from telemarketers, my friends are not the people who gave it out so it must be my provider. Thanks Att!

Well I went along with the game they were playing. I pressed 1 and spoke to a representative. He was with Family Care Insurance. He gave me their address 11111 Richmond Ave Suite 200 Houston Texas 77082 and the Member Services phone number 1-800-323-4057. Maybe we should ALL call and put in a claim or even sign up for their health insurance using bogus names. Because if they can call us using bogus numbers and scamming us wouldnt it be fun to do it to them too?

I didn't answer, and they didn't leave a message. I've been jobsearching but not recently, so I didn't answer. Seems shady, based on this thread.

no comment or message left on my cell phone.  i always "button" them if i don't recognize the area code when i have my phone on and with me.  tired of this crap.

I called 888-382-1222 which is a national do not call list to block your phone numbers up to five years.

I am told to REMEMBER:  Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month.

REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

Even if the message is saved on your phone, you will be charged for the minutes to listen to it.

gotta call from 714-682-8397.  No MSG was left.  These goons have called me before, but it was from a different number and it was about insurance.  I asked to be removed from their call list, guess they didn't get the hint.  Anyone know the proper way to go about reporting this?  Is it possible for me to call my carrier and have them block the #?

I never ever answer calls from numbers I don't know and if a message is left, I call from a landline to my cell and retrieve the messages.  No message left, of course. I don't know why but it seems to be restricted just to cell phones.  Strange.  Just an annoyance.

I AM NOT ON ANY DO NOT CALL LISTS.  IF I DON'T KNOW WHO'S CALLING, I DO NOT ANSWER.

Call my office phone while I was away from my desk -- I haven't heard other phones ringing, wonder if they are calling the whole sub-trunk (because I'm at least 77 numbers up from the main switchboard / Operator).

I have been reading all the comments that people left on this site, and it sounds exactly like what this person was doing. I never give out my cell number (except to chicks) so i dont know how he got it!

These guys called me once and left a message. They called back and i was able to press 2 to "be removed from the contact list"   several weeks later when i was on vacation i received another call from them (or a company like them). This time i pressed one to "get more information"

When someone answered the phone I chatted the guy up a little to calm him down. Then I made up a BS story about how a similar ridiculous health insurance really worked out well for me and I needed to get health insurance again. I asked if I could speak with his manager. He put me on hold for a few minutes and someone else picked up the phone and said, "This is (dudes name), how can I help you?"


I asked, "(dudes name) are you a manager? "  to which he replied "yes,i am"   I replied with "great, thanks... and for full disclosure - this call is being recorded." I paused for a second, then continued, "I've asked to be removed from your list several times now, and I'm still getting these annoying phone calls. If you do not remove me from your list, you will be reported to the FCC. Do you understand?"

He gave me some bullshat story about they always respect peoples wishes- to which I replied in a firm voice, "Sir, I'm requesting that you place me on your do not call list. If you do not remove me from your list, you will be reported to the FCC. Do you understand?"  

He replied yes - "i said thank you sir - have a Great Day" --- with obvious sarcasm in my voice.

I haven't had a health insurance call since -    but i did get a voicemail about an extended car warranty -  those idiots are next in line

I was about to setup a new blackberry for a new hire, and the phone had a missed call from this number, and one voice mail.  i thought to my self, huh that's weird, since the number has only existed for a week, so i know that it hasnt been published by us.  3 people internally have the number, and our business card supplier, so either whoever had the number before gave it away, or our business card supplier has a leak.  just listened to the VM, and sure enough it was fake health care. F'n vultures.

One ring and hung up. I googled the number and came across this site. I'm so tired of these calls!

they called me on cell in movie. Number not published anywhere. They use a number generator to his random numbers. When they his a prefix and area code a company has numbers in they call all 10,000 by computer, ofter batch calling wher a rep has five fones ringing and he picks the first one to answer and the computer dumps the rest back in to call.Same as those blasdted "vehicle warranty insurance" calls . Just don't answer.

I'm in Colorado and I just got a call from this number.  Just joining the voice so others know it's not a reputable call.

I missed this call on my cell since I don't pick up unless I know the number.  If I don't know the number, I let whoever leave a message, which they did not.  That's always my clue.  

A big thanks to whoever came up with and maintains this site.  I had no idea these people were crooks ( according to Andrew603).  I'm too nervous to do what Bill did though I might if they persist.

They called my work number and I looked it up on Google while the phone was ringing...I didn't even bother to answer.

They called me twice in the past 20 minutes. Also for the person who was interested in their offer. Dude seriously! You respond to BS calls like this? You're part of the reason why they will continue to do this.

my cell phone just rang and looked for this number at google immediately..got a lot of phone calls from different numbers...just wondering where do they get our cell phone numbers?
