Thank you Viktor!  I would have called the "stop telemarketers" line or the phone company, I would not have thought to call the FBI.  I just talked to them now and they thanked me for reporting it. The scam robot-recording was still on my voice mail (Detroit area, 5/3) so I was able to play it for them and told them about this site.

Go to this link and locate your local FBI office, call them and report a credit card scam/fraud
https://fbijobs.gov/62.asp
They take this seriously, a few reports from different local offices will get the ball rolling.

I had the same call today from this number 7147179689 will be calling and filing a complaint to our local Detroit FBI office.

Got a call from this number. Knew instantly it was a scam.

Pressed 1, then put in 1234-5678-1234-5678 as my debit card #. Then it asked for the expiration and I put a random date in. THEN, it asked for my PIN, ha! I put in 1234, then the voice said "your debit card has been reactivated and can now be used for shopping and ATM." Anyone that falls for this is an idiot.

These people are bothering me about my VISA card.  Any one know how to stop these people?  They bother me, but every time I try to call back my call doesn't get through.  Is there some sort of agency that can be reported to?  Obviously these people are crooks

Just go the call, didn't answer in time but it looked like a number I'd never seen. When I googled the area code I found this site. Must've been a scam. No voicemail from a "bank?" What kind of bank doesn't leave a voicemail if your card has been restricted?
Bogus.
Added it to my "do not answer ever" list

Let's all do our part and report this! Hopefully evereyone who visits this site and finds this board will get this information and do the same! I feel very bad for all of the people who actually punch in the information! Also, I agree the guy above is probably a piggy back number of some kind. Looking at their website the numbers don't match and if you do a who is on the website information it has completely different information as well.

Good luck everyone and stay safe out there! It is getting worse every month. Almost safer to go all cash and not have any cards or bank account numbers or do what I do and don't keep anything over 10.00 in your bank; they are just getting to smart.

My little brother tried to sell something online a few weeks back and the guy sent him a check for 3000.00. When I took it to the bank to verify funds they advised that it was an actual account number and the funds were available! They also advised that once the fraud was reported and it linked back to whom ever cashed the check that would be the person that got busted.....so they are not floating checks that are fake accounts anymore....it is very scary!!

Same here although I already knew it was a fraud call, I entered in all zeros in response to their questions i.e. credit card number, expiration and pin! 1. DON'T EVER give out your pin! 2. This can get a bit confusing because there are some banks that call when your debit card is in use but they would never need your pin and a personal bank rep actually calls if there is activity that is out of character! Below are the links of where to report this; do it ASAP because they ask for time and date of the phone call! Be sure and register your phone numbers (all of them!) with the Do Not Call Registery.

https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

Hope this helps and remember never give out your credit card information to anyone. If they call like this it means they infact have a zip code on you as well and sometimes that is all it takes to get money from the card!

Just got this one too.  Computerized, automated voice.  Didn't specify bank/which card.  Told me to press 1 to reactivate debit card.  Assumed it was a scam, trying to get my account number so I just hung up.  Checked the internet for stories relating to this - looks like it's been going on for a few years now.  Here's a bit of one newspaper article I found:

By DeWayne Patterson
One of the latest scams that seems to be hitting the area involves fraudulent phone calls concerning debit cards.
According to the North Alabama Better Business Bureau (BBB), consumers say they have been getting phone calls, at all hours of the day and night, in the form of an automated voice message alerting them that their debit cards are inactive, frozen or locked.
The automated system then prompts listeners to press one to re-activate the card and, in turn, asks for their card number and PIN. Caller ID does display a phone number, however the number is invalid and not the true source of the call.
Consumers are being advised to hang up immediately if receiving a call and report the call to your bank, as well as, the Federal Trade Commission. Also, consumers should check for any fraudulent activity on their accounts.

Obvious scam, don't even have a debit card. How do you report this and why are they still able to exist since it is obviously illegal?
