Debt Collector
Mary wise is obviously shill posting.
Read it.
It is a plant people and so are several others.Same tone same verbiage
and John give us legal support services number if you in fact called it.But you didn't because you to are planting posts If Sterling went to law school in Ohio he could practice in California but nobody with that name has passed the Ca state bar since 1947.So that would make Robert Sterling in his late 80's to early 90's at best.By the way he retired in 1969.So again do not be alarmed it is all a joke.

Debt Collector
I got a call from Calvis Wise, Legal Support Services, he left a message for me to call Robert Sterling within 24 hours.  I glad I looked at these postings, I will not call. I looked up Robert Sterlinbg, he is a lawyer inCalifornia and graduated fromWestern Reserve Law School, Cleveland Ohio, I also looked up Calvin Wise and he works for Legal Support Services, California. I will not return their call, 714-888-6886. I believe it is an old old debt from many m,qny years ago. One of their messages said I needed to be in court, funny, they didnt say where the court was, never sent any papers, nothing.  I will call the State Attorney's officve the next time they call.  Thasnks for your posts.

Just and FYI, you can no longer be arrested in the US for debt. So if they claim they are going to send a sheriff, it's a scam. You cannot be arrested.

This company has been calling me from 714-888-6886. This man Devin says he is calling on behalf of Robert Sterling from the Cohen Law offices. They left messages with people at work as well as left messages on my voice mail. They operate under different telephone numbers that appear on this blog. Robert Sterling is not a lawyer licensed in California. Gather as much information as you can. File complaints on line with your states attorney general, the California attorney general and the FTC. Never give them anything.

Mary, You are the first post we have seen where someone has actually been served by Cohen and Associates. You should get on Consumer Lawyers of America and contact an attorney in your city and state. Please let us know what attorney you use let us know how it turns out. Thanks

Cohen and Associates sued me. I called them same like you all said but I didn't call I figured if I didn't call then they couldn't do anything to me. So then I got served at work they had the audacity to serve me in front of my regular customers it was embarrasing but I told everyone it had to do with my ex-husband and the divorce. So I showed up in court and demanded to see documentation and something that shows I am the responsible party, They had one sheet of paper it didn't even say what I charged on my card or nothing. So someone please guide me to know why they can get a wage garnishment against me and not have to have any documentation showing anything except the bank saying yes you owe us money and we swear it because we are the bank. Banks make errors and now my children and I have less money to live on in this economy. Also please tell me why they are allowed to take 25% of my paycheck even though it means I cannot afford my car and apartment payment because my husband got laid off in December? Can a judge and a court really do this? Can I take it higher once a judge has seen me? Who do I call? What rights do I have? What can I do? Can someone please help me or I have to decide if I should let my car or my apartment go. If I choose my apartment then I cannot get to work because I will not have a car. I already had one repo this year on my husbands car with the lay-off we couldn't keep both. If I claim bankruptcy will this whole mess go away? I spoke to a bankruptcy lawyer last year before my husband got laid off and we didn't qualify should I call him and see if with one income we do now? If I claim Bankruptcy can they make us take our 401K and pay off all these debts?

Yeah, so my boss received a similar call, a man claiming to be a process server (Calvin Wise) advised that this was the only number they had for me and that there was a discrepancy with my address.  He advised  that I needed to contact the Atty. Robert Sterling at Cohen and Assoc. with a case # within 24 hours, to give them my home address to prevent service at my job or they were going to serve me at my job.  When you call the #, no one but this atty can assist you and then you go to Voice mail, which is full...Don't fall for this garbage...What ever it is that they want me for is older than dirt because they don't have my correct name...I don't expect a call back, so if anyone gets the call with this scenario, it is most likely an old debt that they have purchased from the original debtor and are trying to collect...I am not saying shrug your responsibilities, but be aware that there are not very honest people out there trying to get your attention...

I got a call saying that I was being summoned to court by someone who claimed to be a lawyer from "the" courthouse and was told to call 717-888-6886 and speak with attorney Alexander Aaron. I was given my case number. I called and the person who answered said legal department. I thought, legal department? I spoke with Mr. Aaron, if I spelled it right, and he said it's over a $400 loan in 2007 that had accrued late fees totaling $3,700, with the First Bank of Delaware. He said I tried to pay this debt with my last payment being $80 in 2007, and my case was in litigation. They were trying to figure out what they can get from me and to just go to court. I was not given the date, or time. So I called the First Bank of Delaware and they said they think I'm being scammed because my name is not showing up in their computer. Please be aware of junk debt collectors with phony legal departments. We'll see if I get a summons or not. I'm calling my local courthouse tomorrow, which is Monday. This happened between 12:30-1:30 on Friday March 11th, 2011.
