Someone called from this number that shows "Placentia, CA" on 9/21/10 and left a recorded message that "my credit card from a company that I have never heard of, had been suspended and I needed to talk to security to have it reinstated". The caller said for me to press a number to be connected to security. I just ended the call.
Later, I called the number and got a recording that said to press the number of the extension I wanted.

Duh!

Both me and my wife got this same call. It is fraud. The bank will never call and ask for your account number / card number / or any number. If they are calling you they already know this info.

I just got a call on my cell phone from 714-924-4111. A recorded message said that they were from Valley National Bank and that my credit card was suspended.  Press 1 to reactivate and press 2 to end.  I understand that no matter which button you push, the computer generating the telephone call to your cell phone steals the information from your cell phone such as telephone numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, etc, providing that you use your cell phone for such transactions.  Just hang up., don't press any buttons.

I got this call Saturday too.  It is strange, since my card was eaten by an ATM the night before and I had to cancel it.  The automated call said that it was Washington Savings Bank (not my bank) and I could press one to activate my card.  Does this scam company (apparently from California) know when cards are cancelled?

Got this on my cell phone. It was an automated message from what sounded like some sort of bank, saying I needed to update my account. Only two options were given: "To update your information, press one. To leave, press two."

I hung up. This occurred less than 24 hours after I cancelled a credit card that I found out had been used to subscribe to a number of online porn sites.
