People can be so lame. Like if I were to donate to a police charity. The local county sheriff is a close family friend. Why do people like these jerks think that one would give to a local charity that is 200 miles frame where we live?

*Never* give donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 90% for themselves and sends 10% to the charity. Best to find what charity they are collecting for, research the charity to make sure it's legit, get charity contact info from an independent source, then donate *directly* to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.

This is a legitimate "charity" but they are currently being sued by the state of California for their deceitful fundraising practices. Only about 20% of the donations actually go toward the children's programs, not 100% as the solicitors claim. The other 80% goes to pay the aggressive telemarketers. For more on this case, look up the number (209) 898-7655, which is another one of CPYC's numbers, and read the complaints there. One resourceful complainant has provided the links to an article about this case, and the actual legal document of the court case.

Got a call from this number told me they were from the California Youth Police Charity. I explained to them that my mom was in hospice care and we were in the middle of a crisis and that I didn't have time for this call - he actually said well is that my problem? I was furious so I called the number back, got a recording and asked them to remove my number and I am now going to report them to the Attorney Generals Office. I still can't believe the insensitivity of this fraud charity.
