So I have been getting calls from a couple different people. one guys name was Ian, another was a lady. Well Ian has called me harassing me for the last month at least least twice a day. I never answer. He at first was being nice. now he is leaving me messages saying I am playing games. Telling me that he will take me to court. He is not being nice told me that I had 24 hours & that was the last call he was making. Of course they all end up calling over & over again. I don't even live in that area I live in OREGON. I think it is pretty funny. They do have my name correct. He tried saying he knows where I work (which I don't even work) & the type of job he said I did ive never done in my life (caregiving not that there is anything wrong with it ive just never worked as a caregiver lol). The only reason I was concerned at first was im going through custody issue with my ex so at first I thought that would be it but they never left messages about what they are calling me about. He also said they sent me stuff in the mail which is NOT true I check my mail daily. The numbers they call from are (714)922-9477 or (816)929-8771 or
(971)340-4282 or (714)922-9489 or (821)280-2147 or (877)486-5990 or (888)524-1283 or (714)316-2640 or (1800)925-7785 there are at least 10 more numbers that they call from. until I receive mail or an explanation on my voice mail I am not calling back. How do I get them to not call any more? I have no debt I haven't worked in over two years I'm a at home mother. I am 23 years old and never had to deal with anyone like this.
Sincerely,
SO OVER IT!!!

They can NOT garnish your wages! You are not correctly informed. They do have to notify you of any court proceedings & it is illegal for them to threaten anyone with that also. They can NOT get any kind of judgment w/o taking you to civil court in your county & if you are not properly served and notified of the hearing, they will not be granted a judgment on their behalf! Even after receiving a judgment, they have no legality to garnish your wages!!! It won't happen, nor can they take your possessions or your bank accounts or anything else for that matter.

Report him to the FTC. This Dan Garrett has been threating and harassing my husband's grandmother and father. He has broken every law under the Fair Debt Collection Law for NY. The # he is calling from is 714-922-9487 & claims the company is Fair Premium Resources. I have called and left my number for him to call me and stop harassing my family members! I will be recording him when he calls & then I will be submitting a report to the FTC against him and his company :)

PR Associates is a legitimate collection agency. They called in February regarding an overdrafted checking account from 2007 with US Bank. I called US Bank and they gave me the information of who they sold they account to in 2007, United Credit Recovery. I called United and they had sold the account to Everett Asset Management in 2008. I called Everett and they had sold to Heven Acquistion in 2009. I called Heven and they were able to transfer me to their offshoot company PR Associates.

Here is what you need to ask the person who has called you:
What is this acount in regards to?
How much do I owe?
Has a settlement been offered?
Do you have an account number for this account?
I will call you back after I verify this debt.

Call whomever PR has told you that you owe money to, the initial company you owe. As the company these same questions, they will need your SSN to look up the account. They may have already sold the account to someone else. Get the information of who they sold it to and call the next people... it is scary to think about how much your personal information has been sold! But continue to track down who sold the account to who and write it all down.

If you are lucky, an agent from a previous company will tell you how much they sold the account for, if you ask casually and nicely. If they don't tell you, say okay thank you anyway.

In doing that, I learned that I orginally only owed $456 and that Everett had sold the account to Heven (PR Associates company)for only $646.23.

PR Associates has added on attorney fees that had accrued when they tried to find you, since none of these other companies could. If you have an account with PR Associates, it is because you owe a very old debt and they ARE aggressive in their search of you and to get the money you DO owe.

Now they told me I owed 1841.92 and offered a settlement of 1181.44. SInce I did my research and was NICE to all of the companies I spoke to, I was able to find out that it had been sold to PR Associates for $646.23.

I let Paul know that I knew they had been sold my account for considerably less and did not have my account for all that long and that I had $712.86 that I could pay if they would settle with me. He talked with his supervisor and they were willing to settle and avoid many of the "attorney fees" that had accrued. I am sure they still made $100 bucks off of my account but to be honest, I am GLAD they found me because this account was so old I had FORGOTTEN all about it. I had moved so much since 2007 that the other companies had been unable to find me. We were able to come to an agreement that satisfied both parties and I was able to clear up the debt that I DID owe.

If the ANGRY VOICE calls you, call this number back

714-922-9475
That is Paul's direct line and if you are being told that you OWE money, he is very kind and patient and will not be rude to you, IF YOU ARE NOT RUDE TO HIM.

If you call these companies and have attitude, they will not work with you! Be nice and be courteous and let them know that you cannot afford a settlement right now but you can set up a payment plan. They will work with you, if you cannot pay, they will have to report you to the CHEX system and job garnishments.

Take care of your business people. Yes some of their employees are very agressive.... but you do owe on a very old debt and you have either been evading it for years or have moved so no one could find you.

Call Paul and settle your debt.

So these same guys have been calling people we haven't been assoicated with in 10 years looking for us.  The only way they could have those numbers is to have gotten ahold of an old cell phone contact list.  Same vulgar language same threats.  I amm attaching an article posted today seems like the same compay.

In a twist of irony, a West Virginia woman is trying to collect money from a collection agency. Diana Mey, of Wheeling, W. Va., won the largest judgment ever against an abusive debt collection company -- more than $10 million.

"I'm a mom, and I'm a housewife, and I'm an accidental activist," Mey said.

From her small-town home base in Wheeling, Mey went after a debt collection empire that hounds people nationwide and won. But she still hasn't received any money.

"I don't know that I'll ever collect a dime, but if I can get their operation shut down, that would make me very happy."

Watch the full story on "Nightline" TONIGHT at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT

Two years ago, a debt collector with a company called Reliant Financial Associates, or RFA, left a message implying that her house was in jeopardy if she didn't pay a debt. The message stated:

"I'm calling in regards to a preliminary asset liability investigation. They are in the process of serving some court documents in regards to case 29369... They have some information now pending questions at the property,... Springdale Avenue, in Wheeling, West Virginia. It is in your best interests to contact the department. You are required to contact             866-764-9779      ."

It is  illegal for debt collectors to make empty threats about serving people with a lawsuit or seizing their home. And it was especially galling to Mey, who says she is debt-free.

"They threatened to take legal action against our property and it wasn't even our debt," Mey said.

Millions of Americans are victims of this kind of mistaken debtor identity, partly because of a new breed of collectors called "debt buyers." They purchase old debts for pennies that the original creditors have given up on and then try to collect them for a big profit. Critics say debt buyers sometimes use outrageous tactics to get the money where others have failed. RFA is a debt buyer.

Mey wrote RFA a cease and desist letter, telling the company not to contact her anymore, and sent it certified mail. Postal records show exactly when RFA signed for it. Precisely 23 minutes later, Mey started getting mysterious hang-up calls that showed up on her caller ID as coming from her local county government.

"So I called the number back and it was the sheriff's department. And I asked if someone there was trying to reach me. And they said, no - nobody there was trying to reach me," Mey said.

After two days of hang-up calls from that sheriff's department number, Mey picked up another one with that same caller ID. The man on the line repeatedly called her a vulgar name for the female anatomy. He described violent sexual acts he would like to subject her to and asked if she liked to be "gang banged."

"I was so frightened. I felt violated, but then I realized, you know, I'm taping this call,." Mey said. "I pulled myself together and I thought, I can get through this. Just keep on talking buddy because we're gonna get plenty of your voice on tape."

The verbal assault went on for nearly two minutes before the man hung up.

Mey said she immediately called 911 to report that someone had threatened to sexually assault her. She says she was terrified because she believed the call was from a local number. Mey said she then bolted the door and got her husband's gun out of the dresser and hung it on the bedpost in her bedroom.
At the time, Mey said she didn't make a connection between that call and the collectors. But then she learned the call hadn't come from the local sheriff's office after all. The caller ID had been manipulated to look like it did, a practice called spoofing. That's when she went online and discovered complaints about RFA debt collectors pretending to call from sheriff's offices, including a male collector who called women vulgar names.

"He picked the wrong person," Mey said.

You see, Diana Mey has battled big companies over intrusive phone calls before. In 1999, she won a class action lawsuit against a major telemarketer whose salesmen kept calling people, even when asked to stop. People magazine named her one of the "Most Intriguing People of the Year." That's why Mey has recorded her phone calls ever since.

Mey says it took her a year to find attorneys who would sue on her behalf. Wheeling lawyers Martin Sheehan and Patrick Cassidy took the case knowing they would probably never get paid.

"Yes, I like to make money, " Sheehan said, "but at some level there's something so atrocious you have to let people come into your office and say -- that's wrong and I'm going to do something about it."

Last May, Mey sued RFA for harassment and illegal collection practices. In August, RFA's lawyer failed to show up in court, so Mey testified unopposed. The judge called RFA's actions "malicious" and ruled that all of the allegations were true. And then he awarded that record judgment of $10,860,000.

When "Nightline" went to RFA's Orange County, Calif., office to ask about the case, it was abandoned. RFA is actually a fictitious business name for a company called Global AG, LLC. Records show it is just one of several collection companies run by the same people that often change names and move. "Nightline" also visited other offices registered to people named in Mey's suit, but employees refused to talk and asked us to leave.

RFA's lawyer later told "Nightline" that RFA made the first collection call to Mey, but denies making the second, obscene call. He said he was speaking on behalf of company principals Thai Han, Jim Phelps and Stewart Phillips.

"My clients say it is not their policy to engage in conduct that violates the law," he said. He characterized the $10 million judgment as "unfair."

As for Diana Mey, she says she knows she may never be able to collect the money, but that her lawsuit still serves a purpose.

"I hope that it sends a message to other debt collectors out there that you have to follow the law," she said. "Because if you don't, there are going to be people out there that are going to stand up against you."

Got half a message on my machine saying something about "repeated attempts to contact you" and "it is imperative you call us back TODAY"... I wish I'd checked here first - I called back and (naturally) got a recording ("when we are out of the conference we will call you back") ... I told them they were looking for someone else, not me.
If they call back, they're going to get as much of an earful as I can squeeze in before they hang up on me. Jerks.
Their outgoing message said "PR Associates" or "P & R Associates" or "PMR Associates" - couldn't be sure.

My friend returned the call and it was answered oddly... no company name etc... and said she needed to pay a bill however, she made up a name and did not give him the correct phone number... definitely a scam!  He also asked her to verify the last digits of the social... She refused and hung up on him...

My husband received a call on his cell phone about 15 minutes ago, from 714-969-1133.  We routinely don't answer calls from numbers we don't recognize (we don't live anywhere near Orange County, CA), so he didn't answer, figuring it was a telemarketer or something.

The guy left a message...said "This is PRM & Associates.  It is imperative that you call this number regarding the property you currently reside at".  This guy is a joke...lol, trying to sound all intimidating on the phone.  Like he's somebody.

The property we live in is entirely paid off, and not even in my husband's name.  My vehicles were purchased used and were paid in full the day they were driven off the lot (they're both over 10 years old...and one isn't running...lol, if he wants them he can have them.  But he'll have to climb a fence and enter my property illegally to do so...and if my dog doesn't eat him before he can push my minivan down the driveway...well, be my guest.  But I hope my dog attacks, because I'd love to put that one on YouTube, lol).

Everyone should call him and leave messages and give him a hard time.  This is a total scam.

My husband just received a call from 714-969-1133.  He didn't answer because he didn't recognize the number (something we both do routinely).  The voicemail that was left, was a man with a deep voice, saying he was with PRM and Associates, and that it was "imperative" that my husband call him back about the property we are currently living in (which is entirely paid off, and not even in my husband's name).
