This is not a scam. This is a ligitimate call from UPS regarding a pickup or delivery problem or question with something you are trying to get delivered or have UPS pick up.

It's a UPS technician calling about delivering and installing a UPS label printer onsite at my place of business. My business initiated this request.

All ? The number that appears on your caller ID is actually UPS making a call to your number in an attempt to obtain additional details for the delivery or pickup of a UPS package.  There are similar numbers throughout the country set up in this manner.  Typically the person(s) making the calls are employees who work in the morning before the trucks are loaded so they can correct the address and then put them on a delivery truck or in the evening when the packages come back in needing additional information such as an apartment number, suite address or other information that is preventing them from making a delivery because the address is incomplete.  In most instances they should be leaving a message to call back UPS at 800.742.5877 (800 PIC KUPS) which is the main number and also provide a tracking number for which they need help on.  If the persons actual number (that was calling you early in the morning or in the evening) were to appear on your caller ID and you were to call them back even 15-20 minutes later there would be someone different picking up the phone that would not know anything about the earlier call placed to your number consequently the ?non-working UPS number? is posted.  By calling the 800 number and providing a tracking # a correction can be made and sent back out to the respective UPS Center for delivery the following day.  Hope this helps

Just received a call from this number at our office. The guy said he was calling with UPS and wanted to know if we were going to be open on Friday 7/3. It just seemed a bit odd because we don't have a local pickup service with UPS why would they need to know if were open or not on that day. Plus that is 7 days away! I did  call back that number and got the same message as others" Non working number for UPS"

I was just woken up at 3:21am by a call from this number.  I didn't answer it since I didn't recognIze the number.  No message was left.  I tried returning the call twice, but got a busy signal both times.  So much for a good night's sleep.

HI, I got a similar call from Mary at UPS and in fact it was in regards to a lost package that UPS was to deliver to me. She has been following up the tracing on this package for me and trying to locate its whereabouts. This call, at least in my case was legitimate.

Got a call from this number this afternoon.  It was a woman named Mary who identified herself as being a UPS employee helping one of their drivers to deliver a package to one of my neighbors in my association.  She was asking whether a certain individual lived next door to me in a particular unit.  She was also asking me if the unit she had me listed as being in was my actual unit.  She repeatedly asked me to identify my neighbors and my own unit number for her.  She said she was helping a driver to deliver a package.  There was no UPS truck on the only street in the complex at the time of her call.  The call seems very suspicious.  She left a call back number of 714.490-4328 although the number that showed up on the caller ID was 714.999-6200.  When I called the 999 number there was a recording that stated this was a non-working number for UPS.  When I called the 490 number back, Mary answered the phone.  I hung up.  I contacted my neighbor who assured me that she was not expecting a package to be delivered and that a family member was at the residence in question and a package could have been delivered if there was in fact a UPS driver trying to deliver one.  There was not.  What kind of scam is this???
