I agree never pick up a number that you don't recognize. I see they called me and left no voicemail. I live in the east coast so I figured that a call from CA was some kind of hoax

Called my home in Pennsylvania at 4:36p.m. Caller ID said pay phone. My kids have cell phones. I did not answer. I didn't even think payphones still existed? Anyway, googled the number and found these reviews or complaints. Thank you all you set my mind at ease a little bit..

Incoming call said it was from a payphone. I knew 714 was orange county. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I know scammers can make the caller I'd look like it's from someone else. I blocked my call and called back it rang and rang until it stopped ringing. No one answered but then I heard a loud pitch like I was dialing a fax #. It certaintly not a payphone. This is an ID thieft ring. Beware

First time for this particular call - caller ID said "pay phone" and 717-999-9103. Perfect English for my call, and first thing the guy said was he was from Microsoft Customer Support and they had determined I had downloaded many viruses and needed his help. I asked about the pay phone ID, saying that probably only meant they had falsified the caller ID signature - which flustered him. He denied he was from a pay phone but the rest was obviously over his head. Asked several questions about Windows on my computer, which I flustered him again because I also have a ChromeBook - which is totally cleaned/renewed at every turn-on. Having early on decided this jerk was up to no good, I continued the conversation but often challenged his assertions - until he hung up. Many scammers ignore Do Not Call list, and wasting their time might be a good way to discourage them. But only if you have the time to spare.

Because like every thing else that is going on in our neck of the woods we have the wrong people in leader ship position from White house down. They use the ruse there is no right or wrong so nothing ever gets done or stopped or corrected we live a world of dumb down society.
Too many stupid people vote for what "feels good" over what is right or wrong.

Got a call from this number earlier today from someone with a thick Indian accent posing as a technician from Microsoft. They called from this number but caller ID said PAYPHONE and the guy said that my computer was downloading viruses. I puzzled him a bit by asking "which computer? We have four." I kept telling him that I wasn't going to give any additional information and asked for his number to call him back and check on the legitimacy of his call. He finally got frustrated and said he couldn't help me if I wasn't willing to listen and that my computer would eventually download the virus and it would infect all of my computers on the network. Uh-huh ...

I got a call from this number also. I recently posted a add on Craigslist about my 6 month old chocolate lab puppy that has gone missing and he said he was from a pet rescue center that helps people reunite with their lost pets. He sounded really creepy, like he was using one of the things that change your voice to sound like something else. I hung up, then googled the number and found this. What a dirt bag! So to put it shortly.. DO NOT ANSWER!

Received a call from 714-999-9103. Caller stated he was from 'Windows' as opposed to Microsoft. I let him waffle away with his story pretending to play along and then called him out. He was incredibly agressive and abusive. After I hung up on him, he kept calling back repeatedly for the next few hours trying to shout more insults at me. I put him on hold until he gave up. I thought his accent was Indian. A very unpleasant experience.

I just got this call... and they said that my computer was downloading viruses. I kept them on the phone for a long long time just to waste their time. I asked where they were calling from and they said that they were in Canada, even though said Aneheim, CA. I kept telling them that I could not understand them and to please transfer me to a supervisor.. someone else came on and said that he was the supervisor but it was the same person! Finally the call went dead. I suggest that everyone keep playing the game... and waste their time as they waste ours! how can this be blocked?

Like others, I get the same calls from various regions. They want to help you fix your PC. I just tell them I don't have a PC but rather use a Mac. They hang up pretty quickly. Ha!

Call came in as Pay Phone. Middle Eastern male identified himself (very broken English) as Robin Smith calling from the Windows technical dept, claimed he was with Microsoft and they had reports coming in that my computer was downloading some malicious and hacking software, wanted me to get in front of my computer. I asked him why was he calling from a pay phone if he was from Microsoft, he would be silent and then he kept wanting me to get on computer so he could show me the error reports. When co-worker listened to his scam script he then advised he was talking to a police dept and the caller stated he had a wrong number and disconnected.

Same "your computer is downloading viruses" and being an authorized agent modus operandi with this phone scam coming from (714) 999-9103. I detected an Asian voice on the other end as opposed to South Asia (India), where many legitimate call centers are located. My thoughts were Philippines, however with the Dutch commentators registering their experience here that makes me think it is someone from Dutch Indonesia making the calls.

European accented male called to advise me my computer was causing a problem with their system at Microsoft Service Center! Wanted me to turn on my computer so he could fix it! This occurred last month and I foolishly worked with him to correct problem he said I had, which he could not correct. Hung up on him.
