Got a call from this number at 3:23pm Don't know why they are calling someone from Colorado!!!! WTH, not to mention I'm a registered Democrat.....Visiting family in Indiana and they called!!!!

This is a spoofed number, that is why you get the non-working number message when you call it. Unfortunately, spoofing is not yet illegal, although there are a couple of bills being considered to make it so. Having worked for Sprint, I can also tell you that tracing this number is not likely to be successful unless the call originates from a regular ANI (POTS) line. On regular land lines, the signaling system is unable to create false information. The problem tracing these calls lies in broadband connections and soft-phones, which use VoIP and in knowing which technology/software was used to spoof the call. But you also run into the routing issue. Just like scam emails, calls can be routed through many sites. Tracing is expensive-if and when it can be accomplished. There are a lot of companies that offer spoofing software, each using a different technology.

Personally, with elections going on, my unlisted and private number, is receiving these calls. I am sure it is from political organizations using autodialers-another reason you get no one on the other end when you answer. Its like telemarketing only with a spoofed number in the mix.

Just got a robo-call lamenting Runyan's vote for the bank bailout, and touting Pete DeStefano's opposition to such bailout.  I think the bailout was great - the stock market stabilized as a result and the banks have been paying us back!

Caller is using a cell phone which isn't in service. He's called here several times before. Called at 4:15 pm central time

I am located about 60 miles SW of Chicago.  3:10pm on a Friday, I answered phone.  No one there.  The line hung up in a few seconds.

Another site had 2 reports that this was a election robo-call.
