I just got a call at work saying they are investigating a criminal act and that I need to contact them immediately. They are a collection agency doing bad practice. You can contact a lawyer and sue them for money due to the Fair Credit Act.

I got a call from them twice in the last few days....they scared the crap out of me saying that I would be dealing with a criminal charge if I didn't contact them immediately and paid money for some debt.  I called my local public defender's office in San Francisco and the lawyer there said that what they were doing and saying was illegal and extortion.  I am looking to file a formal complaint asap.

i got the same exact thing as BONES..is this a collection agency or what??? why do they say federal case??

Received a call from "IPM and Associates" wanting me to contact them about a federal case and wanting a statement of intent in order to exonerate me.  Caller mumbled through the consequences of what will happen when I don't call, then became perfectly clear as to how to contact them.
