The numbers they have been using are 877-268-9286 and 716-213-4370.  The person that called me and starting attacking me, said her name was Kelly Caldwell.  I struck a nerve with her when I told her I don't have time to talk to a $10/HR flunkie.  She mentioned that her title was an 'Auditor'.  I could not stop laughing.  She started in by saying she definitely makes more money than I do, that she can't help why I am so upset about my life, etc.  A lot of psycho babble that I would love to hear come up in court considering I am sure they recorded our conversation.

If you can contact me at reporttrifinancial@yahoo.com with your email address and just a basic outline of what happened, I will keep you in the loop regarding any information about Tri-Financial.  I am considering pursuing legal action against them, and I am a freelance journalist with contacts in the Philadelphia media.  One of the major stations, affiliated with a network, has a crack reporter who is also an attorney.  The consumer reporter works with her and they regularly expose these sorts of companies. In order to fight back, we need to work together.  Help me and I can try to help you.  Be sure to save any documentation you can, take notes or try to use a speaker phone so others can help you document the conversations, and get names and extensions when someone calls if possible.  Document the date and time of the calls and any threats made.  Don't panic--just collect as much information as possible and we can expose these folks.  Violations of the Fair Credit Act can result in severe legal consequences for the firm and the collectors.  I know of a woman who lost $90,000 in a lawsuit when she was a collector and she violated the Fair Credit Act.  We need information and documentation to pass on to the reporters.  So take good notes.

For God sakes people, report them to the New York and your State AG.  They will continue their illegal activities until everyone takes the 10 minutes to file a complaint.,

The number i've received calls from is 716-828-8986 from Mr. Collins from the Warrants Division, he sounds very crooked just by his voice.  I've tried calling back and just received a voicemail since it must be after hours and to leave a message if i received a call from one of their lawyers.  I of course did not leave a message.  The guy said in the message he has several state statutes i broke.  I'm sure these are old also, but i dont want to give them a call back after reading all the notes in this website.  Thank God that we as Americans all look out for each other and report scams like this.  Thank you everyone i appreciate it!

You need to call the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and check with your state's laws as far as debt collecting goes. If the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act of 1978 is more restrictive that is what you go by, but if the state's laws are more restrictive then you go by those laws'.

Look up the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act of 1978

This company called and stated that they were in the process of charging my wife with credit card fraud, They stated that my wife recieved a credit card from Walmart, used it, and did not make any payments which constituted
fraud on her part and would be prosecuted. I told them that there was no fraud and payments were made. We have copies of cancelled checks with the card account number on them. Also told them to contact our lawyer but they did not want his information I am also considering a law suit against this company for libel and slander

Affiliates of Tri-Financial, Vision Credit Solutions, called my place of employment and claimed to my boss that because they have been unsuccessful in reaching me concerning a returned check from my checking account, they would be sending a fax to him to verify that I worked there and disclose what my wages are.  Here's the coup des gras, folks, I do not write checks for anything. I do have a checking account, I use my debit card or pay cash for anything I do.  I have never even ordered checks. Crikey! Are they for real? Additionally, I have spoken to them but they refuse to send me anything in the mail identifying from whence the original debt came, against the FDCA, if I'm not mistaken.

So, uh, you work for Tri-Financial?  And we should trust your assertion why? And in all cpas, no less. Funny that you should try to smoke and mirror people even on a complaint site that gives valuable informtion to consumers to keep them out of the clutches of extortionist leeches like you.

i received a call from a miss trindle, or something to that effect. she called my GRANDPARENTS house. said that she was calling in regards to an action that was filed against my name and social security number. i called back... 716-213-4370... she told me that it was in regards to an associates bank card that i had in 2000... i informed her that i have NEVER owned an actual CREDIT card. i have two visa cards and one mastercard... they are ALL PREPAID.. i dont believe in buying a $200 item on credit only to end up paying $800 for it in the long run. she then transferred me to her manager, one Allen Richards jr.  (aj richards is how he introduced himself, i asked what the "aj" stood for) he informed me that they are attempting to collect a debt for a CHASE BANK card that i had back in 2000.. i said " i thought it was for an ASSOCIATES BANK card?" he said "oh... well, chase bought associates." i told him i never had the card and he called me a liar and told me that he was taking me to court. so i told him go for it. and he hung up. i called chase, they NEVER HEARD OF ME. they said that if it was purchased that my social security number would have at least brought up that it was in default and sent to collections. so they gave me a list of questions to call tri financial and ask. i called, i asked when the account was opened, and i was told "january of 2001" RED FLAG... this same guy just got through telling me that it was may 5 2000. i asked him his employee number and he told me "well, my timecard is number 43." yah thats convincing. i told him that chase told me that they think its a scam, and he said " they are lying to you.. thats defamation." not sure whats going on here, but it appears that i am not the only one that they have tried to screw. how many people have they succeded in screwing? how are they permitted to continue to do business?

So you're proud of your portion for what reason?  A portion doesn't change the fact that you admitted fault by paying.  I wonder what would happen if hundreds of well placed complaints flooded the NYS AG's office after a story like this breaks???

Today we got a call from these people and they left a message saying that if I did not call back with in 54 hours . That a sheriff would be coming to my home for civil action. In the mean time they call my ex-wife from 20 years ago looking for me along with my father. They call my ex-wife back after I spoke with the rude people . For no reason. If they had a true debt then they would have sent something in the mail. If they have a telephone number and a address as they stated on the phone . Then they could send the information that the client as for.. They are saying my debt was like 1k and that it was back in 2001 or 2002. Well most companies by time has wrote it off. so it has not be long since i pulled my credit and there is nothing on it concerning the debt they spoke of.So whom knows where this company is getting there information and trying to rip people. So I will file all the complaints that I can againist them. Times are to hard to have thing stolen for us .

They are using scare tactics, plain and simple. IF they were legit, they would have sent a letter.  To REFUSE to do so is a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. They are REQUIRED to advise you that your call may be recorded. And lastly, if you are indeed working with a debt settlement company then advise them of these calls. I would also suggest repoting these calls to your state AG's office.  Above all, if they are behaving and talking to you in a way that is inappropriate, hang up.  Regardless of debts you may or may not owe, there is no good reason for anyone to talk you like that.

Ummmm.....seriously?  Are you not reading the content of these messages?  If this were a legitimate attempt to collect a legitimate debt, they woudl disclose their identity and provide the documentation to back their claim.  The point behind "don't answer the phone" is if you don't recognize the number, don't answer, screen your calls be safe.  If it is indeed a debt or situation you are aware of, go ahead and respond.  The unfortunate fact is, there are shady, illegal "collection" companies that are finding peoples info. and trying to scare people into giving them money.  These scam operations are being investigated but they require victims reporting these types of calls.  So before getting all self-righteous and snarky, read.
Seriously?

These types of "collection agencies" are scams. I have been getting calls on my cell phone from this number and others that can be traced back to them for my sister concerning a debt that her ex-husband owned which was resolved at the time of their divorce.  She has the legal documents to support the resolution.  Futhermore, I did not start receiving calls for this until the end of May, 2009.  That makes this RESOLVED debt 11 years old. We have recording on VM of threats to put liens against property, (which she doesn't have and never did) garnishment of wages, etc...  Thus the reason to contact the state AG's office. You're missing the point... The debt may have been owed at one time. It has since been resolved. These people are using illegitimate and illegal practices to scam money from people. BTW, I DIDN'T see any report on Dateline, I (and my sister) are living it.

I have no idea who these people are until I googled the phone number and found this page. I've never heard of them, but apparently my sister got a loan with them months back. My sister said she never gave them my number, but somehow, they found my cell number and have been harassing me, leaving me voicemails, etc. They even called me at 3:14am this morning! And just again today right before I found this page. I've already told them that this is not her phone and to leave me alone because it's not my problem, but they still call. Darn these people to heck! I'm just venting. :) Thank you for reading.
