Hi. I see all this info about a scam and i was starting to worry.i was able to call the original creditor and trace it to alexander & stefano. i did receive an invoice  and balance was paid as discussed. but now i they have no contact info. ive tried about 12 different numbers. some no tone, some stating number has been changed but new number not available, and others stating that the number hasnt even been active yet. i have no idea what is going on but my account was paid off and all i would like from them is a statement saying my account has been paid. if someone decides to get back on please send an email to hernandez_cass@yahoo.com. why am i unable to contact anyone? all i know is no more money will be paid for this same account. A company should not have 12 numbers and no working number, including the ones you put in your message!!!!!

These people called me after already discussing my account with a completely different collection agency. The prior agency provided me a letter via fax showing they are collecting on the debt and set up an arrangement to pay my balance of $380 at the end of the month. Two days later, this Alexander and Stefano contacted me claiming they own the account. They claimed I owe $700 for the same account and refused to provide any paperwork. When I advised them that I already set arrangements, the rep started screaming at me. She made threats that I was going to be thrown in jail if I don't pay it. I called the previous agency and verified that they are a scam company and advised me to contact a consumer attorney, which I did. Hopefully, I will receive compensation for Alexander and Stefano's illegal tactics.

My only response to this is if you are a legit place in NY why is the number you call from CA??  Where are you located at?  And why is the return 877 number different then what you entered??  Thats why when i get a call i will never answer and like the scams that have been going around that sound the exact same as to what is being stated on my voicemail.  Will just wait for the court date and we can clear the matter up there. But if you think people are going to send you Payments with no invoice supplied or bill sent to their house like a legit company would do your smoking something..

that the two numbers blueeyes posted are accurate as of today and that my brother received a call stating similar things as above. Even if this company is legitimate, their approach is full of purely unethical scare tactics, at best.

yes... this IS a scam.  These people have wrong records about me and a so called pay day loan.  Wrong!  I was told by the FTC that if you have ever taken out a pay day loan your name and the rest of your info gets sold to others... it's unfortunate and it should be against the law.  All it does is allow idiots such as this so called "legal firm" to harrass people.  If I were an employee of this "law firm".. I would find another job mainly b/c I couldn't sleep at night knowing I've scammed so many people!

I also received a call for a member of my family.  The caller stated his name and said it was in regard to his 1099C Income Tax return.   Also, stated that "we would like to resolve this issue before we send this to trial".  I have this message on my answering machine.  Today when I received the call I answered and talked to a "representative", and asked her where they got our phone number and she told me "she didn't know".  I refused to give her his phone number, and said I would give him a message to call when I could get a hold of him.  He lives in another state and has for over 13 years.  So, Alexander & Stefano, the statement above IS TRUE!  I have requested our number be taken off of "your list".  If I get another call, I will certainly report it to the FTC.

A 1099- C is not a form that tax your taxes. It basically says that the company suffered a loss and the form is filed on you and reported to the IRS as taxable income. But all you have to to is get Insovancy papers from H & R block and fike it with your return and you are pretty much covered. You must be working for this "mediation company" and trying to scare people. I too have filed a complaint with the FTC and with the New York Attorney Generals office.

No, not a scam - I'm screwed now. I can kiss my tax return goodbye - I got the 1099c form now,  I should of settled. This is not good. I need my tax return money. Received a call today from 530-517-5194 instructing me to call 877-212-3222 re: a 1099C tax form placed in my name ... "it's in your best interest to call or have your representating counsel call on your behalf" ... all BS, and when i annonomously called the 530 number, which is listed as a CA number, they answered "Alexander and Stefanis" ... an alleged NY lawfirm.  All BS ... if you have something valid intended for me, put it in writing -- you aren't going to get anywhere calling me.

the phone number they use now is 716-402-5939, thats what there left on my mashine and to call them back at 1877-350-5323 the man identified himself as patric and he needt me to call him at this number  directly befoer he will have my name and ss number checked on ( could not understand ) database ckecked.
I called back a women was on the line and i ask for patric; she idendified the company as Alex and Stefano, was put on hold and when she came back had all info. about a bill with a bank that i should not have owned. she sayd that there wanted to come to an agreement about paying this bill before there will go to the county and file. i say to her what you want form , me explained the situation and told her that i was on disability with only $136 per month income, she interupted me and she said that there know where our income is coming from; so i told her sure, both my husband and i have disability. she just keept talking as i takled, i dont believe she heard or listend to a word i said, and kept saying just make sure when you get the papers from the county to bring my proof. i ask what proof, i was to have overdraft protection from the bank and there did not do it; i paid what i owed then, but like before she just keept talking. i.told her that i had several heavy surgerys behind me and a move and she continued talking and talking like a robot; i just hung up. this is not the first call and with the past calls i made the mistake of erasing them from my mashine, but not this one. these people behave like there lawyers and scare the heck of of you.

I received a similar call. The phone number left was an 800 number however, it was from the same law firm describing the same situation. I sought legal counsel and will be addressing this matter without my pocket book. Best advice is to do your research and know your rights. At first I was a bit shaken up by the whole situaiton but now that I have some legal support I know I will be okay.God bless you all in finding solitude with this agency.

received a call from this firm, and the person who called asked for my son. My son has not lived at this address in 20 years and my number is unlisted. The person wanted me to get a message to him and I told him "Find him yourself". If they found my number they can find him. I am not resposible for any debts owed by my son, since he is an adult. You people need to stop harassing me because the next call I receive will be passed on to the attorney general in NY. You have been warned.

Hi, I recently received calls from New Smyrna B FL (386) 478-7301 and later Niagara Falls, NY (716) 402-5939 from this "company" claiming to be Alexander and Stefano telling me I needed to pay a debt from 7 years ago.  The specific individual who contacted me was named James McDonald (probably a fake name) and his direct number is (866) 831-0597.  After remembering that I paid this debt off, I did some research and found all these posts.  This alerted me to double-check things.  I pulled my credit report and this debt was no longer on it, proving this is a SCAM!!  I reported it to the FTC and encourage future people to do the same, as they do not research individual claims, but rather once they get a large number of claims against the company then they take action.  The woman at the FTC also noted that it is illegal for the "company" to threaten legal action, which they did so with me.  Do NOT fall for this and if you are uncertain as to their claims, pull your credit report.  Thank you for all your posts, you saved me a large amount of money!!

When asked for written proof it never happens and also when told that a phone call to the original place of debt to confirm if the company really does work and refer people to them, they get awfully nervous and frustrated because you will easily confirm that they infact do not. They somehow obtain info on actual debt that you owe but don't fall for it and let them scare you into a scam! Call the original company and talk to them.

MINE WAS FOR A PAYDAY LOAN I TOOK OVER 4 YEARS AGO
I POST DATED A CHECK AS REQUIRED AND THEN PAID IT IN CASH. THE NAMES OF THE PLACE THEY TOLD ME IS NOT THE SAME AS I DO BUSINESS WITH. Got a call from this "law office".  Told me that had a complaint that included my name. Told me they could send documents to my place of employment to garnish my check. I told Ms. Collins that I filed for bankruptcy and she said that my payday loan could not be included, which is incorrect. Not only did this company violate the bankruptcy stay, they also looked all my family members on yellow pages and called and threatend to serve them papers also.
