I just rec'd a call from 716-242-3486. The caller was Alex Westlake. Stating his company (Unified PS Group) was contacted by Lone Star payday loan to represent them. He said that they had compiled a list everyone in my area that owe them money and they were taking us all to court at the same time, but he could offer me a settlement to avoid having to go to court. He said they ran my social security number through a credit card data base and saw that I has a visa card and I would have to pay through the card. He asked if I had direct deposit and wanted to do a settlement for $700 today. I made arrangements with them b/c I was at work and couldn't talk, but I gave him the information off a prepaid card and he won't get no money until i put some on there. I plan to call him back b/c I am a law student and I'm not doing anything without something in writing and proof.

I have an attorney and she pulled my credit and it appears when your accounts get charged off these crooked people can buy your account for maybe a $100 and then they try to collect on an old bill. well even if you paid them it would still show on your credit CHARGED OFF because these crooked people are not the originators of your loan. Plus who do you know (court) that calls and warns you their sending a court order out. They call from too many damn numbers and this is how you should know there crooks.....I've gotten calls from SEVERAL number which all leads me back to this nicolas and grant BS ...IGNORE THEM...if they continue to call tell them your filing harrassment charges with your attorney generals office against them THEY WILL STOP THEN

I have been rec'g constant calls from this number and it also comes from an 800 but says the same thing in the msg.   It is so frustrating that law enforcement can't put a stop to this - I feel for the people who have fallen for their scam(s) and have paid large sums of money for collections that are false.   I have reported these numbers many times but the calls continue.

I got a call today from this number he was telling me he was with the da's office they were goin to sieze my account an file a lawsuit an all kinds of stuff I nicely told him what he could do with it an where an hung up on him he wouldn't let me get a word in

He's a fake, his name is all over the internet.  He'll get what's coming to him someday.  I feel bad for these people who are worried that they think they owe something they don't.  He calls on my phone and asks for everyone else but me.  And this is a cell phone number which no one has.  Just goes to show how desperate he is.

good for you.  He calls on my cell phone which I never use asking for first one person and then another...never me.  I can't imagine how he makes any money.  I think we should all get together and beat him up.

don't worry, he's a con man and a loser.  Just ignore him.  I filed a complaint with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION TODAY.  Maybe that will help.

he's a scammer, don't bother wasting your time bothering him.  I can't imagine how he even makes money.  Not legally, that's for sure.

David Steinberg called, said he was looking for Janelle....regarding a 1099 on which she owed money, he would show up at work and go after her.  He keeps using my cell phone to contact people who don't answer it, adn prob. people who don't even owe money at all.  So I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and they are going to look into it.

Whether the debt is real or fake, debt is a CIVIL NOT a CRIMINAL matter.  NO ONE can have you arrested for debt.

These people have been calling for for 3 years with the same message about arresting me for something I don't owe and they give no information, they're scam artists, VOID THEIR CALLS and email FTC and file a complaint.  They posed as the local Sheriff's office trying to serve me with a warrant for my arrest, I called the Sheriff's office and they said they have had thousand of the same calls, it's a scam and they are working with the FTC.  They told me to file with FTC and the Attorney Generals Office.  It stops for about 2 months and starts back up.  Write down every time they call and the phone number, hang up on them. and report them again. I got a call from a David Steinberg at this number and a 8557462499 number and I am fraking out do I call it back or is it just a scam?  Help!!!

Also, what payday loan company was it?  Research reveals that the company who called your sister gets into from payday loan companies and calls people even if they PAID THE LOAN BACK.  I'd like to find out which companies are doing this.

David Steinberg with numbers 716-242-8634 and 888-539-9063 has called my cell phone number twice looking for people who don't own this cell phone.  He states he has the ss number etc. of these two people who owe money and he implies he is collecting for someone.  He is obviously only collecting money for himself.  There is no way to know if he has stolen peoples' ss numbers or what his game is.  There are only about 2 people who actually have this cell phone number so it's not as if it's out there.  I called him back the first time and got into an argument with him.  Then someone came on and said 'I'll give this information to the judge"...suggesting that "David" had the wrong information and he was somehow connected wtih the court.  As I understand it, "David" is a conman and is trying to collect money with scare tactics, and that would be money that people don't even owe, because he makes this stuff up as he goes along, prob. hoping to get some elderly person who wouldn't know if they had paid the bill or owed it or what.  He's the lowest of the low lives.

They called me about 3 weeks ago and asked me abt some credit card which I honestly dont remember. They had all my information including VIN # of my car and plates number. They told me that if I won't pay them money s COOk County sheriff will repossess my car. We made an " agreement" that I pay 3 rates 145.00 each . We scheduled dates and I was supposed to recive a notice in mail. I gave them my card number....od course they took money right away. Ive never revived a single paper from them. Thank Gooness it was pre-paid card and I didn't put anymore money there. I just reported this card as stolen....

Answered and got an automated message for a person I don't even know. Pressed "1" as prompted to speak to someone and they answered saying they were with some sort of legal firm. I tried to tell him I got the automated call, it wasn't for me, and wanted my number removed but he interrupted me and wanted to tell me what it was all about. I interrupted him back and said, "I'm not who you're looking for, remove my number. It's that simple." He hung up on me. I called right back and someone (I'm guessing him) picked up and hung up without saying a word. I called back again and a very nice gentleman answered. I told him what happened and what I wanted and he took care of it without a single question. He even apologized for the jerk I had to speak to before him and said, "Unfortunately I can't report him because I don't know who you spoke to because he wasn't man enough to put his name on what he did." LOL There are some nice debt collectors out there, even if they are few and far between!

any call from this number is a FRAUD.   do not pay anything to these jerks.  no process server will EVER give you a call BEFORE they serve you papers.  Saying that your financial institution rejected a transaction "for one reason or another" is bunk and is not "intent to defraud"   -   report at www.ic3.gov.  Do not pay anything (expecially now at the holiday time).  donotcall.gove is good, but wont prevent these calls, because they are untracable calls using something like a "magic jack" or voip call.  ALSO, NEVER agree to pay anyone with a prepaid visa card, walmart card, greendot card, or Western union. NEVER - it is un-tracable and these FRAUDS want it that way.

Called me too! The best part of my coversation with them was when he said, "President Obama past such and such act in 2007." I said nothing at the time to this know it all. I thought he is full of it. Bush was in office 2007. So don't answer this call.

They will not stop calling me. I have done nothing wrong and never written a bad check. They keep leaving voice mail messages concerning talking to my lawyer. I don't have a lawyer!!! I have turned the number into donotcall.gov so many times, and that does not even stop it. I just wish someone could stop the calls.

Know that some of these places are real they are know as 'Junk Debt Buyers' and what they do is purchase debt that the original creditor has charged off at pennies on the dollar and then come after you. But, they aren't legit debt collectors because the original creditor deemed your debt junk and not worth enough to go after but these guys do when they spend $0.03 to $0.06 on the dollar for debt ranging $500 to $2500 that is money in their pocket if they can get you to pay. Make sure you check the SOL (statute of limitations) depending on the state they are suing you from. Usually that has expired by the time these 'Junk Debt Buyers' have them. Unfortunately because they were a real debt most people think that they still have to pay them but there is a limit in each state on how long someone can be sued. In New York someone cannot be sued from another state to take advantage of the longer SOL. In Maryland the SOL is only 3 years, in Nevada the SOL is 4. You can even request the SOL from the creditor and by law they have to give it to you and never admit to the debt or the SOL can be reset to day one and never pay on it either or that will reset the SOL. Research it.

caller message from 716-242-8634 David Steinburg - something about a bad check - THIS IS A FRAUD - do not fall for thier fake collection scheem/scam.   THIS IS A THREAT TO ANY OF YOU WHO GET A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER AND YOU MUST NOT PAY THEM A DIME!!!!       dont let these fools Threaten you with paying them via prepaid Visa card, money gram, or other obscure method of payment that cannot be traced!   thank you all who have posted.  caller id came in on 888-539-9063.   also,  dont call them back at either number, that just validates that you are someone they may be able to scam money out of and they will continually "sell" your cell phone number to other scammers!   I know it is hard to resist calling them back, if even to get even with them,  just dont.  report to   www.ic3.gov  (Internet Computer Complaint Center)

I have been receiving calls from the 716-242-8634 number as well. But it is a recording saying I need to contact Steinberg attorneys concerning a bad check. And the other day I got a call from that number stating that if I didn't call them before 12 noon they were going to send a garnishment paper for my employer. I keep getting several calls from different numbers from different scams. When will this ever stop.
