Just got the same call of this is Adam Scott calling from the IRS and we have a case against you and you or your attorney need to call us immediately. The verbatim is the same as stated above, "The very second you receive this message I need you or your regent attorney of record to return the call.  The issue at hand is extremely time-sensitive.  This is Officer Adam Scott and my number is 716-253-1440.  Now don't try to disregard this message and do return the call.  If you don't return the call or if I don't hear from your attorney either the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you.  Thank you and goodby."

I got a call from him too. I told him to send me whatever he wants to say in writing via mail because I don't who he is and I don't do anything unless I get written notice. Guess what? I never got anything in mail -:) Now he started to call again. This is a scam folks. We should play it reverse and tell him "Good luck suing me buddy. I will see you in court" -LOL

As above. Calling from IRS. Want me to call back to IRS cell phone. What a bunch of *(#%ing idiots. This is criminal activity and wish someone could post how to respond to these.

This (These) guys are calling claiming to be IRS agents, and informing us that we have not paid our taxes...... Our taxes are paid, trust me! The number origin is buffalo New York . I researched the number thru google and it reports it's a spoof (that's a system that tricks your called I D into telling you a different number than what's actually being called from, the report said that telemarketers use it so they can't be traced), and that it goes thru bandwith.
Now the guy who we've spoken with has multiple names,he puts you on hold and then come back on the the line as a different named person, you can tell by his voice. He informed us that there was a case against us for not paying our taxes, when my husband ask where we hadn't paid our taxes at he said buffalo New York. We have never lived in New York, EVER!  My husband told him that was great news because we never lived there so we didn't owe any taxes. Then my husband told him to come and hand us a subpoena and we would go to the local tax office and talk with an agent from there, he said he was sending the police to our house...... Waiting for the doorbell to ring cause we are home.   We informed him that we had researched the number  and found multiple posting about this number from where others were given the exact message verbatim and that they'd even told one person he was money laundrying, and we knew he was a scam artist.....he hung up on me. I so wanted to finish my conversation with him, but he apparently doesn't like me anymore.

I just got the exact same message, verbatim. I called back and he refused to speak to me, said he had to speak to my husband, when I ask about what he said a case against him. I ask what that meant he refused to answer the question & hung up.

I called the number back and the gentleman answered and had a very heavy middle eastern ascent, he refused to speak with me and told me my husband had to call him back. I called my husband and he told me that since the target security breach that their have been news reports of people getting similar calls. I googled this phone number and it brought me to this site. I think we will walk into our local IRS and see if they really did call us.

I goggles the number and got this site. The message was the same add everyone else got, be careful people.

This number is administered by bandwidth.com, which provides services for, among other companies, Google, Pinger, and Skype.  Check them out at http://bandwidth.com .

It's quite possible that the party making the call is using a Skype connection or a Google Voice number to make tracing difficult.  Also, the script read to Kathy slc also seems quite familiar -- if I am not mistaken, it is often used by those working in Indian call center boiler rooms to scam Americans.

You may want to look at the IRS website to be sure, but I think this is little more than a scam in which foreigners outside of the reach of US law, in a country that is not particularly cooperative with US law enforcement in this area, hold up people at the point of a phone rather than at the point of a gun.

Got a call saying they are from IRS and need to have my lawyer call them back....

This guy claims he is from IRS. And keeps calling saying I am involved in money Laundering.

I also received calls (3 times in 3 hours) with messages sounding like a computer is calling in a male voice with an accent saying "Hello this call is from IRS that's Internal Revenue Service.  The very second you receive this message I need you or your regent attorney of record to return the call.  The issue at hand is extremely time-sensitive.  This is Officer Adam Scott and my number is 716-253-1440.  Now don't try to disregard this message and do return the call.  If you don't return the call or ifI don't hear from your attorney either th e only thng I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you.  Thank you and goodby."  I did not return the calls because 1) the IRS sends letters, and doesn't make phone calls; 2) no IRS agent has the time to call 3 times in 3 hours to leave the same message; and 3) the way this message was phrased sounds like it is from someone from another country.  (what is a regent attorney of record?)  DO NOT call this number back.  Clearly this is a scam to scare people and/or bilk people out of their money.

I got a voicemail from this number by someone names Adam Scotts, saying that he is calling on behalf of IRS and I have unpaid taxes, I should have my attorney call them back or there will be serious consequences and wished me good luck!! I called back the number, and a guy names Gary answered, knew my name and address, and said i have so-so tax amount I owe the IRS from years 2010-2012. It is a very mechanical voice, almost sounds computerized. Talks in a threatening tone, and says you need to be present in the court tomorrow. And said something to the effect that you need to have lawyer call me back in one hour. Or else your bank accounts can be sealed and property confiscated. I checked online and other people have received such calls. I am just glad I checked the number online before calling my husband frantically. Stay smart people!! Don't fall prey to such calls.

Nice name dud! yes this area code number has a high rate of the detective, lawyer, officer, predators. . buddy!
