Debt Collector
It's not a scam, it's just a collections company. I was contacted by Jason Burke as well. They are not the nicest people to deal with, but they will arrange payments with you. I owed $759 and made payments over 6 months. They don't send you any confirmation that the debt is paid however, so if you deal with them, be sure to write down all the information, account info, amount owed, what company the debt was orgionally owed to, payment amounts and payment dates, because if they ever try to recollect, you will have only your own bank records to go on. That being said, they took only the agreed upon amount out of my account, and only on the agreed upon dates. And to Michelle Smith, they can possibly take money out of your account depending on the state you live in. But to do that, they have to go to civil court and have a judgement awarded against you. If they are successful in that, then depending on the state, they can completely wipe your account clean with no advance notice other than the notice that a judgement was ruled against you. It really is a lot better to try to work out an arrangement, because they can potentially take it to court, and if you are in a state where they can, they sure as hell will. South Dakota is one of those states, so if you own debts there, make payment arrangements!

I received the same call and it scared me so I need to contact my prepaid debit card company now so I can cancel the money from being taken out. I am just closing the card all together. If they want money from me I guess they are going to have to send someone to my door with the papers. I don't know what else to do. I told the guy I  wanted the contract to be sent to my email and 4 days have passed and I do not have it yet so I cannot believe this is real.

Just after the New Year had started, I receive a call every day from a Jason Burke stating I have to call him back to respond to the case against me that I wrote a bad check and my social security number is attached to as well as giving me a reference number to say when I call back.I had taken a payday loan out back in 09 and had every intention of paying it back but lost my job and had no money to pay rent or utilities and my husband to this day will not help me either since he left me to fend for myself. I am still trying to keep my head above water since I had many bills that are much more important to pay than a lousy $260 loan that they want me to take out 50 dollars every 2 weeks. After all my bills are paid each week, I definitely can not pay that, because that would make me default I my car loan and my auto insurance. I have rent and electricity to pay as well.  So there is no reason for me to even explain this to this debt collection agency because they will not take less than $50 every 2 weeks.

We received a call from this same number but it was a man named Jason Burke.  He has a case number but doesnt identify his company.  I searched for the phone number on white pages and it does not pull up a company associated with the number.  He says he has an affidavit with the state I live in and befroe he files anything against us, he wants me to call him back.  I do not trust this is a legit deal.

I received a call from this number but they almost instantly hung up before I could ignore it.  I have never taken out a payday loan.  I attempted to call them from my work phone (landline) and they answer and immediately hang up.

My parents received a message on their answering machine from a male caller, who said his name is McKenzie Johnson or Johnston. He said that he was calling for me in reference to a civil matter. He left a case number, his name and phone number 716-262-1832. My mom called me to relay the message and we agreed she'd pretend to be me and find out what all this was about. Later, she advised me that his claim was that I defaulted on three payday advance loans (online) and owed XYZ amount. She said he advised her has my current address and that a summons would be filed or has been filed in civil court in my county. I called the civil court and to see if one had been filed and one was told it has not. When I went into work, there was a message from the same male caller with his contact number, case number and it was in reference to a civil case. The truth is I did default on the loans and I feel remorse for ever going online and taking a loan out, but it was that or not having  a place to stay. I had good intentions to pay them in full in a timely fashion. I'm still struggling today to keep a roof over my head so I'm in the same situation I was in when I first defaulted back then, a year and a half ago. I've heard that many companies like them have purchased information to collect money, most cases more than what was borrowed to keep their job and a roof over their heads. I was wondering if anyone else is going through or has gone through the same situation I'm facing and what was your outcome?
