Got a call from a heavily accented gentleman called "jeff williams" from the "national drand centre" telling me that I had won a trip anywhere in North America or a cruise. When he found out I wasn't old enough to receive the "trip", he pushed me to transfer it to someone else. Definitive scammer. I don't know how they got my number, it's unlisted and do not call.

Just got a few calls from this number today. A lady with Indian accent (said her name was Nathan Escott- she didn't sound like it could be her real name!) said she was the assistant mgr at "Joya Travel" and said I had won a ballot contest sponsored by Marriott and American Airlines. I pressed a lot about the catch and she repeated there is no catch and no conditions. Also she said the hotels are not all Marriotts and there is no flight included (makes no sense given the so-called sponsors). But, I would have to speak to their "senior manager" to verify my information, and then go pick up my voucher at a gift redemption office. I thought this was suspicious ... So haven't picked up their subsequent calls which are showing from this number in Buffalo.

Just had a missed call on my phone, and then the same number called my boyfriends phone .. So I answered and it was a man with a very heavy accent saying the same thing, that I "won a vacation package" and I can go to the local store to claim my prize but the manager had to call me with the confirmation code. He said "you checked here that the people in the household are over 30, but under 75. Is that still true?" .. I said No. He says "well that's fine, but how old are you if you don't mind me asking?" .. I lied and told him a different age, and he says "that's fine, my manager will call you in 10 minutes with the confirmation code" .. I asked a couple times what the address was to the 'local office" but he kept saying only his manager could give it to me. I'm certain that its a scam! ...

Fraudulent Contest / Phone Scam

August 15, 2013

Shoppers Drug Mart is warning customers of a fraudulent contest and phone scam. Several people have received an automated phone call claiming that you won a vacation from Shoppers Drug Mart. It then asks if you agree or disagree. If you select agree, you are transferred to a live caller who will ask for your credit card information to hold your hotel room. This is fraudulent and not authorized by Shoppers Drug Mart, nor is this a Shoppers Drug Mart contest.

Shoppers Drug Mart would never ask for your credit card information over the phone. If you have concerns regarding your personal information, call your credit card provider immediately. Shoppers Drug Mart is currently investigating this fraudulent activity and the authorities are involved.

Shoppers Drug Mart customers affected by this fraudulent activity are encouraged to file a report directly to RCMP Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (Phone Busters) at 1-888-495-8501 or email info@antifraudcentre.ca.

Hilarious. The guy was calling from a New York State area code and claimed to be "Robert from Woodbridge". Anyway he hung up when I started asking for his company affiliation, phone number and address.

I couldn't resist, I had to play along until the timing was just right! When the lady said i had to come into the office to collect my prize I said "why don't you just mail it to me?" she said she needed to verify that it was actually me redeeming the prize, I said "but you don't even know my name! How would you know its me?" after some hesitation she said that she did know my name and i kept asking "okay, so what's my name?!" this went on until she realized her lie was going no where and she finally confessed she didn't know my name. Have to say...had a good laugh! If you can't beat em, join em!

What is up with telemarketers in the US calling cell phones in Canada? I am on the no call list but obviously that is no use for callers from the US. Each month it seems like a different number from a different area (DC, MI, NY) but the same "you have one  a free trip, please give your credit card number)".  It is a real pain in the behind. How do we stop this?

Call today around 11:30 am Toronto, ON

Guy with heavy indian accent says I won a vacation from a ballot I may have filled out in the last 6 months (eye rolled at this point but was a bit curious because I do fill out the odd ballot). As most of you have said, asked me to get a pen and paper.... to which I asked what name I had placed on the ballot. He said there was no name, just a field for a phone number.......... who fills out a ballot without putting their phone #, address, and name. I told him that this sounded fake, he let out an annoyed sounding "oh my goddddd" which is ironic - I then hung up.

You have reached the right place.  Famed telecommunications conglomerate 800notes.com, owner of 99.99% of the entire communications infrastructure of the world, together with its cadre of posters, who alone originate 98.7% of all the junk, hang-up, unsolicited and otherwise unwanted phone calls in the entire world, as well as text messages, emails, and junk faxes, have teamed up to offer you custom call and text blocking services at a price you can afford!  For just $10,000 per week, via Green Dot card, prepaid in advance for a year, we can assure you that you will receive NO text messages or phone calls from ANY of us!  And this service INCLUDES tracing your anonymous post to determine who you are and what numbers of ours you are using, so that ALL of them can be protected (limited to up to 4 different numbers only, please)!

And in case you are the recipient of any of the 1.3% of unwanted communications that we do not originate, we have a special offer for you!  For a slight additional charge, we will find out who actually originates these unwanted communications to you and take physical action against them, ranging from a simple kneecapping to outright body disposal.  Body disposal can include, depending upon rate and location, encasement in concrete, burial at sea, or a simple shredding and dismemberment.  Our deluxe package also includes disposal of witnesses for your added protection.  While past results may not be determinative of future success, we like to point to Jimmy Hoffa as one of our greatest success stories.

So remember -- choosy people anonymously message 800notes.com to handle their unwanted calls and texts permanently and discreetly.  And we accept Green Dot cards, exclusively.

HURRY!!! This offer is good for only 4 hours or until someone comes to arrest me, whichever comes first!

SCAM alert:
just got a call from a person with a thick accent so i'm not really sure if it was a he or a she, maybe it was an animal who learned a few english words :)
IT told me the call was from some vacation place and i had been a lucky winner and my ballot had been randomly select (i never fill any ballots anywhere - so right there i knew it was a scam)
IT asked me if i wanted to know what i won, so i didn't answer, IT said hello hello and hanged up
waste of 20 seconds of my life, glad i got unlimited mins on my crappy BELL cell phone in toronto.

i've been 2 those 3hr presentations in woodbridge b4, u get a voucher for a cruise or a hotel, but you gotta pay taxes, gratuities, admin fee, BS fee and it ends up costing u more than just buying it online, so technically u get NOTHING free
oh and they try to sell you a vacation package for $30k
probably the same story here...

Got a call from this number, telling me they got my number from a ballot I filled out at wallmart or gas station, when I said I did no such thing, they hung up.  How rude!, Call dispay says New York, but it sounded like they were on another continent, (had a few seconds delay).

So glad for this site. Also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who "won" a vacation.

A man with a very thick indian accent started by saying I had won a vacation by filling out a ballot at a mall "somewhere in Ontario". I asked where and he said maybe it was in Hamilton, maybe it was at Fairview... well... hmm... shouldn't he be able to tell me that??

He went on to say that the vacation was for "anywhere in North America". That's pretty vague too.

Apparently they want you to go to Woodbridge somewhere with a confirmation number of sorts... that's as far as I got. I simply told him to give my "vacation" to someone else because I didn't want it.

Scammers.

They called me too. I've sent the number to the New York police.  They are obviously phishing for personal information.  Taking the credit or other personal information garnished from these phone calls to facilitate identity theft.

People seem to think the phone number displayed on their caller ID is important. It's not.

Scammers that call use spoofed (fake) phone numbers on your caller ID. The scammers
are using Voice Over IP services that allow them to change their outgoing phone number
to whatever they want. They are not really calling from Buffalo, N.Y. They aren't reading
what you type here unless they visit this website for fun either.

And they are likely really calling from India.
