Its funny... I just got 3 phone calls from these people at my work, I decided to do a little digging around and the first 2 numbers they called from were this one (7194188360) and the third call was from 619-399-3392... this lady calls me saying SHE IS GOING TO REPORT ME! HAHA! These people think they can get away with anything. Any way... this 619 number she called me from is linked to a locksmith in National City, CA and the address to the locksmith is actually to a Mexican food restaurant in National City... I sure hope these people don't really run 3 businesses... I say if you get a call from these people you should totally mess with them and waste their time like they do with everyone else.

small claims court (which is pretty easy to do)

Especially if the company thinks it is pulling the wool over the judge's eyes, the judge has the discretion to triple (the legal terms is treble) each of those fines. So I could make $4,500 -- and a lot of satisfaction -- for paying attention, doing a little research, documenting when I get these calls, and spending a few hours in court? That's my kind of hobby.

Did you know you can sue telemarketers 500$ per call?
-That's right, under the provision (47 CFR 64.1200 (e)(2)(iii)) which is a provision within the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA)
-There's a detailed guide produced by folks of UCAN.ORG which is worth downloading here

This is how it works, when a telemarketer calls you:

-Report the number to whycall.me (good for reporting all annoying calls), including the name of the agent that called
-Ask the agent to be put on the Do Not Call list (this different from DNC, this list is managed by the company)
-Take down the name of the agent who called and request the postal address of the company
-Send a certified letter (with a return receipt) demanding to be placed on the company's do not call list (keep a copy along with the return receipt, which you may need to use as proof
-Wait 30 days (refer to your original complaint on whycall.me if you forget the date and name of the rep)
-Now each time the telemarketer calls you can get $500 by suing them in small claims court (which is pretty easy to do)
- See more at: http://www.whycall.me/info/telemarketerssued.php

How to Sue Telemarketers and Win
"If the company called someone who is on the Do Not Call List," he says, "that is a $500 violation.
If the consumer asks for that company's Do Not Call manual and doesn't receive it? Another $500.
Did the company block its own caller ID? That will cost them another $500."

This is a call from David Markwitz with CMR Mediation group. THIS IS A SCAM! DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY NO MATTER WHAT! He stated that his company is a mediation company and that they were about to take me to court to pay back a payday loan that I never took out. Little did he know that I used to be a supervising debt collector a few years ago. He could not answer any of my questions that a real debt collector associate would know. I reported him and his fake company to the BBB and FTC.

Scam... They say this is a collection agency collecting on past due Sprint bill from over 7 years ago. They said they will serve court papers that if I lose the case' I would owe 800 bucks... or if I settle now for $300... Before one freaks out, check your credit report and call Sprint to verify. I did both and saw that this was a scam.... They sound legit, but come on, wouldn't Sprint have sent me past due notices?

These a-holes call me regularly.. but I have a feature called Do Not Disturb on my phone, so they can never get through to me.  They claim to be a collections company, but I pay my bills... so no idea what it's all about, but I suspect they are scammers.

American Coradi contacted me regarding an outstanding balance from my Bill Me Later account that was sent to their collection agency 3 days ago. I received back to back phone calls followed by a single voice mail from an agent named Michelle. She clearly informed me of who she was and why she was calling. I called back the next day and settled up my account for almost $400 less than what I actually owed to Bill Me Later.
Michelle was very nice, very helpful and not at all harassing. The calls may be an inconvenience to those who don't want to pay their bills, but I found this whole process easy and safe.
Here's their website (they are legit, it is not a scam): http://www.americancoradiusinternational.com/

Several numbers from ACI has continued to call me, however, I didn't know it was a collection company till they finally left me a voice mail leaving a 1-800 number, reference number, and extension number. I went to their website and went to pay bill because I am completely unaware of any debt I may have. Under bill pay it says creditor is Bill me Later, which I assume is my Walmart credit card account, because I recognized real quickly, however it says I owe a lot to this creditor. I know for sure this is not true. I pay more than the minimum payment every month for this bill. I log into my Walmart account, and it says nothing about oweing this stupid amount, and shows my payments every month and current balance. If anyone has had this happen, or has any advice of what may be going on, or a possible theft that I'm dealing with, any information would be very helpful. Thanks

I've received calls from this company for almost 2 months. After the first two calls, they agreed I was not the person they were looking for, and agreed to remove me from their "robocall" list. However, there were two more calls before the calls stopped.

Last week the calls started again. That caller refused to listen to me explain I was the wrong person, and kept telling me to listen to her. I hung up.

Today, a friend of mine received a call from this number who identified themselves as ACI. They asked how to get in touch with me. She refused to give them any information. A few minutes, and left a message  later, that same number called me from that number and left a message from ACI.

Here's the kicker: the only connection I had with this friend is that , at one time, her cell phone was an additional line on my AT&T account last year. Somehow, ACI has tapped into (or purchased) my old AT&T records (I don't have AT&T any longer).

Something smells illegal, here!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Someone from this number (or some nachine that has this number hooked into it) called me earlier today twice. No messages were left. I am not curious enough to call back a number that does not have the courtesy to leave a message telling me who they are and why they feel they have dealings with me, be it business or personal

My company was called by this company 3 times today alone every time I told them that the person they are looking for is not employed here and over the last 4 years we have not had anyone by the name they gave employed here. The very rude and obnoxious person then basically called me a lair by saying that my company hone number is registered to that individual. I have had the number in question for over 10 years as well as 4 other numbers.
Later I called them back to speak with a supervisor and was told another lie. They claimed that they never called my business on any of my numbers. So they couldn't even remove my number from their system.

I received a call early this morning from ACI and the lady refused to say what type of business the company do. When I advised her I was returning call because someone keep calling and when I say hello they hangup and you can hear them typing in the background. However I couldn't get anywhere witht this lady, so I just hungup, so i'm going to assume this is some type of debt collection agency.
