Debt collector that gets you to call them by claiming they are in a pre-legal state (implying they are going to file some sort of legal document).  They claim if you don't call them back you lose all legal rights.  I have no debts so I ignore the call but they keep calling with the same message.  Each time I have 24 hours before I lose all rights.   I'm pretty sure something would have to be mailed to me and any legal papers served to me personally.   Companies that do this stuff should be put out of business.

I've received a call from 716-650-4972 claiming to be a legal rep from the "Legal Processing Firm" by the name of Nichole Akers. The person called a relative of mine during work.

At first, I had no clue what was going on. I made the mistake of not verifying the debt with her company and stating that I would pay back the debt. I asked though who she was representing and gave me the name of Brightwater Capital LLC Group. There is a website but very barebones information. Just a phone number and an address out of Florida. The "legal rep" during the first call seemed very understanding of my situation and told me that she would place a temporary hold on the filing of court papers in my local state.

During the second call (the next business day and after I spent the weekend educating myself on creditors and the FDCPA [http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm] ), she became more and more hostile and after I asked politely for a letter of debt vaildation, she refused, stating that as part of the "lawyers representing Brightwater", she cannot do that for me and that I would have to contact Brightwater myself and gave me the phone number.

I finally received a phone call from Brightwater (had to leave a couple of messages on their answering machine) and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Scott. He told me that Brightwater outsources their payment settlements and such to a company called EastPoint Recovery (1-800-459-2417) who is authorized to take repayments on their behalf.

I suggest you contact LegalAid within your state and see if 1. you're judgement-proof and 2. get help with dealing with these more unsavory characters in our society. Lastly, if you're like me and just fell into bad times (losing job and home/living out of car/on streets).. call your original creditors and explain your situation BEFORE you let it fall through the cracks/ignore the problem.. because it will NOT go away... wo/man up and take responsibility for your actions. You used their money to pay for your goods..don't be a coward and walk away from your problems.

I block all these calls!  I screen my calls b/c of a psycho ex that has been toying with me for the past dozen or so years! :) If you can't leave a message, then your call obviously isn't that important.
I also have a Google voice number that pretty much gets losers like these people nowhere! :)

Man continues to leave message, that he has urgent business with me but he does not give any details. I will never answer the phone until he states what his business is with me.

DO NOT ANSWER!!! National Action Financial Services. Google it. They come up on the caller ID as Call Center. This is among the VERY WORST debt collection agencies out there, referred to as bottom feeders, they buy up old debts, for pennies on the dollar, ofter debts that have been discharged, they re-age them, grossly inflate the actual amount and then start their low life tactics. Because of these illegal actions and others they are under constant law suites. DO NOT ANSWER THEIR CALLS! Wait until they send you a letter, contact them only by registered mail (return receipt requested),challenge them on the alleged account, it's your right.

I have been called by this number several times a day and the mess is always the same . You need to call us back now we have a serious matter to discuss with you, so i called back today finally and all i got was a phone ringing and no one ever answered these people just dont give up

This guy is a real peach.

Never talked to him.  My voice mail seems to set him off completely and now I chuckle like mad when I hear his threatening tone.  I picture a ruddy-faced tired, miserable looking individual on the other end of the line, knowing full well that making threats is illegal and not caring at all.  I'm thinking he's a few good arguments away from a severe heart-attack or stroke.

The cease and desist note that is mentioned in this thread is the best form of counter action that you can take against these guys.  

For a return address though, get a P.O. box.     - I do.

The lady was very rude saying that I had to pay $2,000 right now and that I could only pay by giving her my bank routing and account number. I didn't give her any information and she kept getting even more rude.

Got a call from this number and they left a message for my great-grandfather?  He died years ago so why would they be calling me?  Do I have to pay his debts?

I recieved a call from this number two 1 716-650-6240 at 10:00 AM hung up when he wouldn"t tell me what he was calling about, told me I should know and to get a lawyer. He called back one minute later started screaming and swearing that I was rude for hanging up  on him called me a B***h. My 12 year old daughter happened to pick up the phone when I was hanging up,{ she heard him start to that I must A LESBIAN {C**T}. Have contacted the better business bureau on this one.

My brother in law received a call from these people asking for me in my maiden name which I have not been in 13yrs. Jay was the persons name, very very rude. My husband called him back and he was rude to him asking if we were still together and saying stuff like she must have kicked you out. In my opionion that is none of his business. He called my husbands phone back and my daughter answered and he was asking her if me and my huisband were divorced or was my husband lying, my daughter hung up on him. I called and the first thing I was asked was my telephone number, which I did not give out.I was transfrered to another lady and then to that jerk. He told me it was a credit card then he said no a line of credit, which I have never had. He then began degrading me by saying I was one of those people who never paid their bills but in harsher words. I asked him for his address and he refused. I asked him to send me a contract that I signed and he refused. He said had sent me plenty of things and that is a lie. Someone please let me know what I can do about this horrible company.

These idiots have been calling almost every day for the past 3 weeks.

We are current with all our bills & have never been late or in collections.
Even better - I have a simple Trac-phone for emergencies & it is this phone which only my wife has the number of, that they keep calling...

Simply hit the ignore button & do not answer these scumbags.

I get calls too from this number 1-716-650-6240.It's about a debit 8 years ago and I didn't get the loan from them and I will never pay them for something that I didn't buy from them.Lucky for us I put that number on block out. I see the number come up on my computer screen but it doesn't ring so I don't have to listen to their bull ???? from them and they can't leave a message either.. They call as much as 5 to 6 times a day.I have Verizon (iobi) Phone sevices here in sunny Fl and it is great.Can block out up to 20 phone numbers. love it.............

This number has called me at all different hours.  Never leaves a message and I don't generally answer calls with unavailable as a name.  The one time I did answer no one said anything so I hung up.  I'm tired of this.

This number has just called my home for the second time, for my father in law. He does not live here and never has.  The first time they called I was not home,  but the message that was left was very rude and threatening.  When they called today, it was a pre recorded message, it was different than the first but it was still very rude.  I called the number they gave me, and told the woman that answered that my father in law did not live at this number, and that their message was very rude.  She interrupted me and said "oh, so it is a wrong number?" and then hung up.  I am debating calling them back.

yea he called and didn't leave a message and i called hm back and hung up on him because all he said was hello. so who knows where he works.

Caller ID said UNAVAILABLE.  No message left.  We got caller ID because of harassing calls for someone who doesn't live here.  Sounds as if the other two outfits sold the account to some new sucker.  Maybe they are working for the phone company to drum up business for caller ID!

Caller ID came up "marketing."  Woman would not give reason for the call.  I told her we were on the DNC list, and they were not permitted to call this number, then hung up.  She did call back, I did not answer, and have blocked this number.

We just did credit checks and bought a new house.  Our credit was good, and we have nothing outstanding.

Some man Mr. Roberts keeps calling with a recorded message.  His tone is very threatning and I don't know what the hell he wants. Then, he leaves a pphone number for me to call him.  WHAT THE HELLL!!

A woman called me from this number & left a message to return a call to 800-443-2963 Ext. 2471.  She said that I had committed a serious violation and was in a lot if trouble if I did not call her back by 9:00pm tonight, but she did not say what company she was with or anything else.  I looked up the number & it is some type of collection agency, National Action Financial Services. I don't know why they are calling, but one thing for certain with threats like that, I will not call them back!

I recieved a call today from this number, the guy left a message expecting a return call TODAY!.Problem is I used to be a Collections Manager for National Action Financial Services over eight years ago!!!  I'm curious to know how they obtained my cell phone number, and i'm almost certain they were bought out by Sitel Corp, so i'm not sure how they're operating as NAFS, however the collectors' attempt to sound intimidating was amusing. I agree with Ms Carr, if the calls become harassing, send the "Cease & Desist" letter as instructed, they have to comply.  Most likely they're attempting to collect on accounts that have already been "charged off" by the creditor, therefore any money they collect will be solely profited by the company along with a significant bonus to the collector, thus explaining the aggression.  Don't fall for it!

This company is most definitely a debt collection agency.  A very deceptive one.  They buy debts that are more than likely legally too old to collect on at a small fraction of the original debt.  Then they add all these collection fees and costs onto it and threaten people into paying.  They have literally called me back to back eight times.  I hung up the first time, and he called back seven times, right in a row, with no voicemail or anything.  And they are calling my cell phone, not my home phone. Most of the time, the information they are buying is so outdated, they don't even know who they are calling to badger.  Do not take abuse from these people.

Send a letter to the company (google national action financial services to get the address) and send it USPS with a return receipt.  In the letter, ask them to stop calling and start sending all correspondence by US mail.  By law, they have to comply.  Not doing so could mean government sanctions and lawsuits for them.  Remind them of that in the letter as well.

Two men  (R.Bron, Dan.Lynch) from this number (national action financial services, inc/ a debt collections agency) have called me every other day for the past several weeks about the same time too (10-11am). I called back one day and they wouldnt tell why they were leaving threating recordings. i dont have anything in collections, i wouldnt give my name and they hung up on me.
the beginnings of most messages are cut off too. the first few messages were very vauge/ then after a week or two, they started to leave more detailed recordings. hope this helps....

he called me, i didn't answer because i didn't recognize the number. And he left no message. Only called me once.

a man called and left a message with my son, stating to call them ... said I was in " big trouble "  ... I am not returning the call and told my son never to answer this # again

I also have been called by this number multiple times.  Starting at the beginning of the month.  I finally answered the phone today and told the guy he had the wrong number (he asked for Leslie) He immediately told me "no I don't, stop lying!" and hung up. So I googled the number to see what it was and I called them back.  After three times of transferring me I finally got to someone from the actual company.  The guy I talked to asked me some questions and I explained the situation and how Leslie has never lived here nor do I know of one. He told me they would not call back but we will see if they hold true to that.  He ended the conversation by telling me "I just like to waste people's time"  I should have told him before he hung up that that is fine by me, I have no job and I'm not in school for the summer... I have all the time in the world to waste

This jerk called me and I went off on him.He is very bold and threating.He does not state his business.He called me a tough guy because I cused him out.He did not belive that he had the wrong number so I just hung up on him.In reverse look up it is a residential number so this guy must wrong out of his house.
