My sister received a call from a lady who wouldn't give her the name of the company. So naturally my sister wouldn't give her any information, so she goes on to tell my sister, a 3rd party, that that was fine, they'll just sue me. I card this number, she didn't identify the name of the company. Also, didn't verify any information other then my name & as soon as she did she started right out of the gate threatening me. Told me to either pay it now or they would just sue me & I'd be liable for over $3000 in attorney costs. After she hung up on me I called the number back & a gentleman finally gave me the name of the company.....First Legacy Assest Recovery. I immediately called the attorney general in my state & am now filing a complaint. I worked for a place kind of like this & they are violating numerous laws under the FDCPA

I received a few calls from these people from 716.241.4035 and spoke to Chaz Towers. He referred to it as "The Firm of Legacy Management". He said to me that my debt was from a credit line with U.S. Bank that I had not paid. I explained that I filed a bankruptcy and that I was in a stay protection (meaning all creditors must hault collection contact). He said it didnt matter because since U.S. Bank is federally insured, they use money from the federal reserve to advance money to people. He said 100% of every federal debt from a bank , ust be paid or I can face jail time and if I dont pay this by the 17th of the month, they will file a lawsuit to get a judgement against me. He then went on to say that if I was in a hardship, they were willing to take less than half of what I owed. I asked how that is If Im supposed to pay 100%. He said his manager makes exceptions.
It sounded fishy and I told them the amount wasnt even right. I called U.S. Bank and they told me that they had received my bankruptcy notice and had not sold my debt to these guys. They also said they had never heard of such a thing and that they dont use federal money to lend only that they are INSURED by federal money. I called my trustee and he said it sounded sketch too as did a bankruptcy attorney.

I have not paid them and dont intend to. If it is legit on a slim chance, they can take me to court. I dont have money due to illness and disability (cancer) and you can't squeeze blood from a turnip.

The guy I spoke to "Chaz Towers" (how fake does that sound?) His number is 1.866.795.6989 x1025
Hope this helps anyone else. The lady at the federal bankruptcy court said It didnt sound legitimate.

I have received several nasty messages from this place.
Wanting to "verify" my address for pending law suit. I do not
know who this Debbie is..but I do not answer calls from unknown
numbers, nor do i owe anyone that is not current. I have also
searched the name "Legacy Asset Management, as well as
First Legacy Asset Management" in NC Secretary of state..
they are not bonded or licensed in NC, so they can not collect from
NC.

Can anyone help me figure out if these people are legitimate or not, please?  Recently I have received four or five calls from LEGACY ASSET MANGEMENT.  they have left messages on my voicemail at work.  The message, verbatim, is as follows:

=====
This message is intended for  ---------- --------------- .

It is imperative we obtain a statement on your behalf regarding a filing being scheduled.  please refer to your pending case number NAH###### when returning this call at 877-812-2577.

Failure to return this call will result in a decision being rendered on your behalf.  Please govern yourself accordingly.
=====

Ominous sounding to say the least, and when I blocked my number and called this company, a man by the name of Steve answered and when I asked the name of the company to whom I had called, he informed me it was LEGACY ASSET MANAGEMENT.

If anyone has any information about this company, and whether or not they are a legitimate company, please, please reply.

Thank you!

This first legacy management firm repeatedly called my parents and my then my father at work. It wasn't the number posted in above posts..the numbers were 1-866-795-6989 and 1-716-241-4026..no disclaimer about being a debt collection company whether pre-recorded or a live person..they are threatening court action and freezing my accounts due to 'entering check systems'..i called back and requested hard copy documents about the situation they called about..I will make future posts after giving a proper amount of time for postal maill to be delivered..

In my opinion, there is absolutelty nothing at all that is credible about this company, it just seems to be a fraudulent scam, I received a message on my voicemail from a man at this company however, he sounded as if he was under the influence and was unable to say anything other than " Iam calling from Asset management and if you do not tco this matter we will have to pursue the matter in court. Then he went on to threaten me by telling me that he would have to serve me papers if I did not pay the loan back, but the stranges thing about it was... this was my first time ever talking to him and I just listened to what he had to say. I just held the phone because I thought for sure that someone was pranking me on the phone because his words were very slurred. I asked him to give me a call back tomorrow at 3pm and when he did, his words were very clear. I just don't want anything to do with this company so I am in the process of paying the balance and I hope like heck they lose my number.

I am receiving collection calls from them for one of my neighbors in my apt building. They are NASTY horrible slimmy people. When I called them back to stop the calls at 877-405-4615 x105 the guy who answered claimed he was a legal dept supervisor and just screamed and yelled at me saying he couldn't do anything. This tactic of contacting neighbors is illegal, especially when they have unlisted numbers. I filed a Do Not Call Registry complaint and contacted the States Attorney's office.

My husband took a message for me from this place, and when i called back ext 112 I was told i had a check from a pay day loan,( I dont recall this "loan") so I asked him to send me a copy of his file, showing any check or contracts with my signature on them. He told me he didnt have these, and that this was a real issue. I again asked him to send me a copy of whatever file he had, via real postal service. He said he could email me a letter, to send it through postal service would take too much time, and that i would be served court papers by then and it would cost me 2000.00 then, but if i paid now he would knock a few hundred off. I told him if it were a real check, i was not looking for a deal, only to verify the account, to send me papers, i would review them, and if it was my account i would pay. again he told me it was real. He gave me the last 4 of my SSN, and said there was no way it was someone else, when i told him the last time i would not send him anything until i got a copy of the account ( ie.. contracts /checks signed by me) he told me he would list it as failure to pay , and sue me in court. That is when i advised him the conversation had been listened to on speaker phone by my attorney , who then said hello and gave his BAR number and name, he placed me on hold and never came back

Its people like you that give bill collectors a bad name. Per the contract you sign and leaving phone numbers for them to call you at, you are allowing them to contact you there legally. If you dont want them to contact you at work, pay your bill and you won't have to worry about it. I on the other hand have dealt with this company and they helped me out immensely. Stop whining and pay your bill. oh and any real attorney is not going to tell you not to pay your bills unless he got his bar from a cracker jack box. Stop using stall tactics and pay your bill. Let me know how it goes when you go to court and they garnish your wages to pay the bill.

Posted in other threads about companies that use similar tactics.

United process servers, inc. 800-396-9995 located in Santa Barbra, CA. This is a good company but may be using there name in another state. I have been a P.I. and Process Servers for 30 years and these people who call are fake. One name is Pat Miller. Company does not know him. Google business name and check website out. No process server is going to call you and let you know that you are going to be served. Any questions bobd8@verizon.net

To the last "Karen", you aren't fooling anyone. Your scam is being exposed and your company being investigated by the Attorney General in more than 4 states. Under FDCPA, each and every violation is punishable by $1000 for the company AND  $1000 for the collector who violates the law. Each and every time you call me at my office after you were notified in writing has been documented, recorded, and my file is getting very thick. I will enjoy the day I take you to court, and I actually DO have an attorney.

To the real Karen who posted prior, thank you for the info it was very helpful.

Not sure if anyone who is receiving these calls lives in Texas but I just checked the Secretary of State web site for First Legacy Asset Management and they are not bonded in Texas, which means they are not able to collect debt in Texas, which means you need to file a complaint with the AG, FTC and the NY AG as well.

On 10/27 I received a call at work from "Robert" who said he was an attorney with FLA and said that I had not responded to his calls and that it was a matter of urgency that I contact him.  I had not received any previous calls so I looked up the 877 number (877-405-4615 ext 103) and found out it was from a debt collection company in Buffalo NY.  I send a FAX (716) 725 6654 stating they are not to call me at work and since they were a debt collection company to send verification to my home address and provided that address.  I also informed them that they have violated the FDCPA - which they obviously did by insinuating they were attorneys and I would be reporting them to the Texas State Attorney General and to the FTC.  No sooner did the FAX go through but "Joe" called my office and since I was on another call it rolled over to a co-worker.  Joe was less then friendly and when she transferred him to me he was not on the line.  I found the number and called and was put through to 'Joe" who claims he was not the "Joe" that called but told me that he did not need to verify anything with me, it was a 'stall tactic' for people who owed money, etc.  I still have yet to hear what the debt is in relation too.  Eventually he told me it was a payday loan that his company had bought but that was all the information he provided.  Joe was less then pleasant. He said he didn't care if I was going to contact the Texas Attorney General, he was sending papers to a 'lawyer' in Texas to sue me.  I don't know what he is suing me for but my lawyer will figure that out.  I don't know why he doesn't use his "ATTORNEY" Robert.  I told him to send me verification and he again refuses.  He said he would give me until noon tomorrow to settle the debt or he would make it his PERSONAL MISSION to see that I pay in full....pay in full for a debt that has no name or originator.  I will remind JOE that section 809 Validation of Debt (FDCPA) states that I must be informed within five days after communication (which is today) as to the nature of the debt, amount, creditor and also 30 days to respond..  Apparently Buffalo is not subjected to the Federal Law.  Anyone that has been harassed by this company file a complaint, remind them of the FDCPA because it seems to upset them. You have rights as a consumer and you do NOT have to tolerate being "BULLIED" by unscrupulous debt collectors.  Since Joe Bish seems to think he need not follow the rules, I am posting this comment as proof of our conversation and will report back in FIVE days as to the verification documents I have received from Mr. Bish and First Legacy Asset Management.
