Told them: Upon receipt of a WRITTEN LETTER from you, I will decide whether pymt will be made.

#1 Your letter must state that YOU represent ALL interested parties in the matter in which YOU claim there is a debt (and are authorized to speak for them)

#2 Your letter must state that if I make the "settlement" payment you "suggest", that this would effectively cause to CEASE ALL further attempts to collect additional amounts on this account

#3 That you admit that ANY VERBAL REPRESENTATIONS made to me over the phone, SHOULD BE FOLLOWED UP BY A WRITTEN LETTER CONFIRMING THE REPRESENTATIONS YOU MADE VERBALLY.

#4 I will answer NO MORE phone calls from you, before receipt of such letter.

12:59 P.M. someone called from (716) 871-9050 but did not leave a message on the answering machine.
After reading the responses of others, it seems my number may fit into one of the categories already listed.

Have had this tel. # for over nine (9) years and received numerous calls for several years asking for
whomever had it before. Perhaps the number was listed on someone's old account? Recently had a local dentist call to schedule an appointment - but informed caller they had the wrong number.  Am also on both the state and federal "Do Not Call Lists" - doesn't seem to matter.

Let some scum tell a story like that to my mother and I don't care what continent they're located on - I will walk, drive, fly, swim or hitchhike there and personally choke them with my bare hands until their eyes fall out of their sockets.  Then I will proceed to do unspeakable acts to their corpse.

I have little tolerance for morons.  Less for A$$holes.

It was great news alright.  You were the winner of today's collection call.   You've won a moron.

They won't really "give" him to you, but you do have the use of him as long as you can keep him on the phone.

Perhaps you'd look pretty ~nice~ wearing those knee pads - bobbing back and forth on my manhood - you ignorant baboon.

I understand that everyone has to work someplace, but you seem to enjoy yours a bit too much.   Perhaps one day you'll share a cell with a very large man named "bubba"  with a man fetish who happens to be so well endowed that he could have been continued on the next man...I hope that you get your rear so stretched out that you could place a tire from an 18-wheeler flat on the floor and you could pick it up by simply sitting on it.   :)

Be VERY glad you don't live a reasonable driving distance from me - I would be VERY willing to come to your place of work and vent a few frustrations should you have the distinct misfortune to cop a smart alec attitude towards me in a phone conversation.   I have a LOT of - shall we call it - free time.

I have NO aversions to paying scum like you a personal visit with free attitude adjustment.   Crapping on your desk would also delight me.

Perhaps you aren't a horrid wretch of a person, but regardless you could benefit from spellcheck - or at least a nice class of English as a second language.

I am a current employee of a collection agency. First of all......i get paid whether u pay me or not. My company i watched by the federal government. We MUST follow the FDCPA laws. Now.......if a collection agency calls u its for a bill that u did not pay. A collection agency gets original creditors information. Example....an account that the original creditor is citifinancial THD consumer.....account is home depot. We get the lenders information. On the account. Of course if u owe someone and ur account is in collections their gonna say u dont owe the. Each state has their own laws. How often we can call, leave vm message, speak to person other than the debtor, plus a lot of other things. If u file bankruptcy and it was DISCHARGED we will notate as such. If ur bankruptcy was DISMISSED yes we will still call u. If its a wrong number...say so without screaming or cursing and then slamming the phone down.  Account not on ur credit report? Check ur debt to income ratio report. We do not have a LIST so stop saying....take us off ur list. Debt collections and collectors are NOT customer service representatives so we DO NOT have to be nice to u. Respectful yes. Again....the excuse of the economy is getting pretty old. There are plenty of jobs out therebut most people dont wanna work hard for minimum wage. If u needed money u would find a job. Somewhr doing something. SSI, disability, unemployement..........those people still pay their bill. Do i have a hard life? Yes. Im a single mom of 3 girls. Do i have collection agencies calling me? A couple yes. Do i kno wht its like to b broke? Yes. But i do the best i can. Not all debt collectors are the same. Yes some are extremely rude. But not all of them. One thing i do agree on is......if u have a debt, pay it. Then u wont get any calls. Have a good day

The only thing I would not do is use a fax number that can be traced to your job or allow them to track you down. If you give them your work fax number, it doesn't take much for them to google the number, find out who owns it and then locate the main switchboard and hassle you at work so that your boss and everyone knows about it.

I would get a P.O. Box and have them mail the docs to you. I would not give them my home or work address unless they already have it. You definitely want to get them to mail it. It bides you time while you contact a lawyer.  Then we are dealing with another legal issue you can get them on (mail fraud?).

I started getting these calls a year ago. I've filed complaints and sent cease and desist orders by registered mail and they keep calling. I don't owe any money to any credit cards, but that hasn't stopped them from calling and saying that I owe them money. They leave messages saying that if they have the wrong number I'll have 3 seconds to hang up. What's wrong with that is, if the call goes to voicemail how am I going to hang up? It's ridiculous and I wish they'd stop. I've asked them to stop and they told me "To get us to stop calling you have to do the following: hop on one foot, pat your head and go screw yourself." These people are scum.

They called me as well.  3 times in one hour.  I don't know why but I'm sending a cease and desist letter.  They need it in writing and one must send certified or it seems they say they never received it.  Fax was not working.  They seem to be a junk debt collector buying up what is known as zombie debt.  After four years most states don't even let them sue for the money.  They are just fishing and useing strong, aggressive collection tactics to bully people into paying or in some cases it seems just bothering people who they have no business contacting.

Well, finally called them within the hour they called me today. Just followed the prompts, told this kind lady my name and cell number.  They asked me if I knew a certain person.  I didn't recognize the name. I explained that it was my cell number I've had for years, but don't know the person.
So I taught the lady that her company might be a victim of phone swatting. I told her that her organization was looked up on google and got dozens of complaints.  So when she heard that, she kindly deleted my number off the database.

Someone's got a real debt out there. They're doing phone swatting to avoid it. But as I told them this:  If you catch the person, let me know.  I want to sue him/her butt for phone swatting on me.

I have one last wish.  Collection agencies, do yourself a favor. SEND THEM CERTIFIED MAIL!

When I picked up the phone a gruff man was making a racial comment about "Oriental" people.  Asked for someone who doesn't work here.  He very rudely insisted that she worked here, and when I asked who was calling (since I wanted to know who I was dealing with), he said, "It's Brendan. Why does it matter who's calling."  I said thank you and hung up, and he immediately called back and hung up on me.

I only answer the phone for my company, so the nature of the call had nothing to do with me, but I became a victim of constant harassment from a debt collector who refused to believe me when I said the person he sought couldn't take phone calls at work.  The caller pushed me over the edge when he called me a liar.

I would have called the Better Business Bureau also, but when I checked with the BBB, I learned that this company was kicked out in November 2007 due to too many complaints of undue and unethical harassment by its debt collectors.

I finally found relief by taking two measures:

    1)  I called the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at 877-382-4357 and filed an official complaint, and

    2)  I called 800-519-2687 and complained to the Human Resources Department.  Apparently, if you call the same day the harassment occurred, HR can review the telephone call to verify the harassment.  Be sure to let the HR person know that you have already contacted the FTC and you're not playing.

I know one thing.  If I ever hear of a class-action lawsuit against this company, I'm joining it!!!

This company actually has three co-owners: Jeffrey Houser, Dan Abadir, and Paul Huziker, Jr., as per a Lexis-Nexis search that revealed an article in the Buffalo, NY newspaper. These people like to play hardball but I can play hardball also. They can put on their catchers-mitt because I can throw fast, high, hard and inside, just like they like to play. A certain Sharon McCoy thinks that she is a real bad-a**.

Capital Management- They call 10-15 times a day even after I have told them that I am not the person they are looking for and that I am at work and should not be receiving calls on my phone during work hours.  I explained to them that I did have an overdue credit card but was working with a collection agency to remedy the debt. I also told them that I have never even had a WAMU CC.  I asked them to remove me from there data base and stop harassing me.  It has not helped.  I have even threatened them with attorney's and still they persist.  I am going to do what one poster has done and report them to the FTC.

This company calls this house, cell phone etc, and they are looking for a person who does not live here, never lived here, and has never been here.  This incompetent organization did not do their due diligence regarding the true address and phone numbers they looked up.

This has been going on for several years, and they will not stop.  They even looked up my wife's cell phone number, called her at work, and told her someone else owned our house.  They have the WRONG ADDRESS.

How stupid are they?  I think a lawsuit is appropriate in this case for their negligence in in pursuit of this other person.  Now that I have their address, I can pursue them in court.
