No, you got played. Look at your letter from Mr. Alt. You probably paid them an extensive amount of money unessarily because once your loan leaves the original debtor, these collection agencies up all the fees to make a profit. Also, look at your letter. If it says IAR,LLC on top of it...I suggest you google them. I found court docs prohibiting them from debt collecting in the state of New York..RED FLAG, DEAD GIVEAWAY!!!! This company along with NPS are a scam!!!!!

Just had this woman tell me oodles of information about me and say it was me that took out a pay day loan online...first of all I didn't know you could take out a pay day online and two the dates she gives I was in the hospital having my daughter via c section so I explain this to her and tell her it wasn't me she names people I know and say I used them as a reference and I tell her yes but that isn't hard to find out because I use the same people as a reference so next....she rambles off plenty of information and tell me it is my burden to prove that I didn't allow someone else to take this loan out in my name (because yeah after labor ALL I want to do is take out a pay day loan) the conversation got escalated and she threatened me by saying we will see how serious she is tomorrow. Well this ticked me off and I surely told her I wanted her supervisor to which she said no and I told her because she was calling from a damn cell phone and not a business but she could call my job if she wants I am on it alerting my HR dept, my supervisor and her local authorities as well so give me her best shot. I HAVE legal counsel so I will be waiting to see what she sends me.  She hung up on me and I called her back and asked again for her supervisor.  I called one of her alternate numbers and left her message and told her to bring it! I didn't take out a loan and was having my first child so it is HER burden of proof!

I've been receiving calls, 11 just today May 11th, 2012 from (716)929-7563.  They are calling for a debtor named Derek, last name omitted.  I've had this phone number for 9 years and do not know a Derek with any last name.  Now my boyfriend is going to take this over and being a Army Special Forces vet I suspect these people are in for quite an awakening.  Not sure who these people are but I'm certain between my corporate lawyer and my boyfriend's help, I may not receive further calls.

Today Feb23 2012  at 830 pm I received a call intercept supposedly from Broome County at this hour of the night??? The person claimed I wrote Walmart a bad check to pay of my debt, NO I DID NOT.  I asked who this was and she said she was Ms Delanay.  Same person that called in my first post.  I told her she was a fraud and hung up on her.
She immediately called back from the Levoule Inc number  1716 929 7561, also the same number she caled from on my first post.  She claimed she has all my personal information, and I told her she was wrong.  Again as what the Attorney General told me to ask for the lawyers name and address, she refused to tell me.

Yes it was one week ago I received a phone call from this number also about my Walmart credit card..This is a scam to try to get all your money out of your bank account and or your family members accounts.  Her name is Gabrielle Delanay and she said she was calling from Steven Barnes lawyers office, well their is no such lawyer by that name and she keep threating me that she was going to send it into the court system to be served and if that happened it would be double the price I would owe.  Well she gave me till 800pm that evening to call her back at  1888 685 0726.

Well I did search  on the lawyers name and the phone number of 716 929 7560, and all I found was bad things and that she goes by many different names,  On the one sight it said to call your  Attorney General Office.

I called the attorney general office and he took the information down and said it was a scam , because if the lawyers (supposedly laywer _ would give me their address when I asked her for its, but she refused, she also said she would give me the case number but she never did,

Do not promise this woman anything and report her to your attorney generals office.

I have NOT been served and this is a SCAM.

Thank you all very much for these posts - very helpful!  Especially "EKU096"... I kept getting calls from this # 716-929-7561, with no messages ever being left.  On 12-2-2011,  a girl by the name of Gabrielle Delaney, called my manager at work and scared her to death..she had a msg that Gabrielle Delaney was trying to reach me, saying I needed to call her that day at 716-929-7561, or I would be served the next morning (at work)... said she was with the law firm of Stephen Baines.  Also note this phone # is long distance for me, it came thru on our work Caller ID as Lockport NY and I'm in NC.  I called her back and she answers "hello" - NO bus/ attorney office name, no dept name, just "hello" and when I asked "can I speak with Gabrielle" she replied "who's calling?"  She also sounds like she's in her kitchen cooking when she is on the phone with me.
She proceeds to tell me she is calling in regards to a debt to CashJar and that my bank is also attached on the paperwork, verifying that I did write bad checks to this company.  As "EKU096" said, it concerned me as well because I did get a cash loan from CashJar (didn't mean to actually go thru with it but it hit my acct so I know I owe it), and this was back from spring 2010.  I'd not received any letter notification regarding this debt or had anyone call until suddenly mid-November.  She had a ton of information on me and kept saying that there was nothing they could do to keep me from being served unless I gave them credit card info and set up a date for pmt to be taken.  I wouldn't do this... I'm very uneasy about giving my info like that over the phone, although she seemed to have everything else!!  She had informed me the "cash loan" amt was $200 and based on fees, etc... what I would've paid back had it been paid on time, properly etc... would've been $515.  If this went to court Cash jar was going after $1967... but if I'd settle the settlement amt was $1053.00.  Then she said "and if you're served and have to go to court in YOUR state of NC, there are additional fees and it will run you way over the $1967, probably closer to $2900.
To get her off the phone on 12/2/2011, I agreed to call her back in 2 weeks and make pmt - the only way I'd agree to it or I'd mail a money order.  We agreed to speak again on Friday, 12-16-2011.  In the meantime she assured me I'd receive a letter stating all this info from her (including a case #), and I'd also receive soemthing from my county in the mail.  I never received any of this...
Suddenly on Friday 12-09 she calls to tell me that they don't have enough digits to make up my acct # or credit card #... I didn't give her a card #.  So I called her and she is wanting to know if funds would be available at 12/ noon or 4pm.  I'd originally told her that IF I chose to do a pmt over the phone when I called on 12-16 then I'd do the latest time of the day, 4pm.  I repeated this but reminded her that I was not doing anything on that day, 12-9 and could not get her to tell me what she was referring to regarding the digits on the card/ acct.  Major RED flag... We finally hang up.
This past Friday comes around, 12-16... apparently she tried calling me once with no answer on my cell, she leaves no voicemail but then calls my direct supervisor, telling her that I'm going to be served the next day between 10am and 6pm, and she wanted my supervisor to tell her a time that I take a break or lunch because they like to set up someone being served at work as inconspicuous as possible so that "they may walk outside and meet whomever is serving" and it's not an embarrassing situation.  Well... my first thing is this... I don't know about all states and counties but when you're served something here in NC, it's not "bob" down the road... it's the sheriff's dept for your county and they do not go by someone's schedule.  They'll get it served as they have time and no other calls... and you normally aren't "warned" of being served!  And why she kept focusing on my work is beyond me.  Typically they try to serve you something at your residence first, and if they can't get you there then they may come to your work.  Well... my work and residence are in 2 different counties... if this truly is legit and will be served I'm sure it'll be to my home first.
During Friday's call, she had me so upset that I ended up telling her I'd call her back closer to 6pm that I hadn't been able to get the extra money needed to take care of this... then she starts "well let me see if there's something else i can do" etc... after getting off the phone with her I found alot of negative comments and complaints about them and this phone # through different websites, so my supervisor said "let's go in my office, I'm going to tell her we know they're a scam and if they ever call back here for either you or me, we as a company will report them."  So she gets her on the phone @ 4:30pm and first asks "Is this Gabrielle?" and the girl says "yes" then my supervisor says "where am I calling?"  This girl says "the legal dept" (still no company name, no atty name), then my supervisor says that she's calling in regards to me and that we know they're a scam, etc... Gabrielle interrupts her almost yelling first asking "where did you read this information?" then said "you're calling me from a phone # that doesn't show a company name and you're going to say something to me about the phone # I'm calling from"... then she said they're a litigation office, they're legit, etc etc... and it then and only on this call that she mentioned they are IAR - Integrated Asset Recovery.  She mentioned that "Case #" again but never offered it... She also up until this phone call had not once offered a toll free phone #, when she did it was 888-685-0726.
So my supervisor asked if there was anything she could send via fax to my attention and told her that I never received this letter she claims was mailed to me, and we also asked for the Case # in case I want to check with my county.  She said to give her 10 minutes, I'd have it within 10 minutes... well I left work almost 2 hrs later and had received nothing from her... that was when I thought "pure scam" because she doesn't have something to fax me.  It's now Monday 12-19 and I received a fax 2pm from a man by the name of Daniel Gibson... still no Case # which has been asked for 3-4 times.  I'm done with calling them back, not doing anything... do not trust her at all!!!

I feel sure that if I get into court regarding this debt, and offer to the judge to "want" to take care of it, then I'll have 30 if not a little more days to get it taken care of... and it will not be bordering $3000!  I've had to go to court over a bad check in the past, same county... it was easily dealt with and I wasn't made out to look like a hard criminal!  LOL.  The state of NC also does not look kindly on the cash loan type places.

So I'm going to take my chances on being served and handling it through proper chanels that I can trust in the court system...

Have you verified with the credit bureau to see if this was really paid off? It is very easy to write a letter saying the debt was released, but until you verify it with the credit bureau, it may have been a scam.

Thank you so much for these posts. This person called me and left a message. The caller said his name is Mike Reagan and that there was a petition filed against me that has my name and social security number attached to it. Also, said that it is sitting in pre-litigation status to have my representing attorney to call them. The gentleman did not state where he was calling from and talked really fast. Glad to know they are a scam. This is the last thing I need right now. Thanks again for the posts!

Hello,
No I am not trying to play the system but they threatned me with jail and to have me arrested.  A real debt collection company will not threatnen you with arrest if you do not pay them and will send you a letter validating the debt before you pay them.

I was scamed by a different company playing the same game back in March. That company was Shaipairo and Price.  They claimed to be lawyers.   I have never been arrested and was scared to death that they would have me in jail that day like they promised.  I did not even owe that company they said I did because I only looked into information on a cash loan from that company and nothing more.  I however borrowed money from my roommate to pay them with his credit card and that afternoon my roommate thought to go see a local lawyer friend of his and it was indeed a scam and luckily my roommate was able to stop payment and cancel that card before they took any money out.

My roommates lawyer friend told us that a real collection company has to send you a letter validating the debt and can not threatnen you with arrest and if you are really being arrested for fraud it would be your county of residence county attorney sending you a letter about it and that you have so long to pay it.  Also if the fraud occured in another county that counties county attorney must send you the letter about it.

I really am trying to keep people from being scammed or being horrified like I was with the other company

Hello,
This number came up on my caller ID.  This is a scam.  Do not be afraid of what they threatnen you with.

If you answer right the first time they call you they will tell you that they are representing a lawyer company.  They said their company is Intergraded S. Recovery.  They will have all the information on you when they call such as a past bank account, social security number, drivers license number, address, your county of residence, etc.....  They will use a variety of people and names when they answer the phone.  The name they used for me was Micheal Kirkpatrick.

They will even go as far to claim a company that you may really owe money has turned you into them.  They are very clever when it comes to scaring people.  In my case they said Cash Net U.S.A turned me in.  This concerned me because I do really owe Cash Net U.S.A.

Do not be afraid because of the information they have on you.  I have gone through these scams before and have talked to local police, County Attorney, State Attorney, FBI, and the BBB.  They all told me the same thing.  In all 50 states of the United States if you have bad checks out the county attorney or state attorney must send you a letter stating where the bad check was written too, how much the check was written for, the date, and other vital information.  In most all cases of bad checks the letter will be from the county attorney for the county that the bad check was written in.  They attorney's will tell you how much you owe including fees and how long you have to pay the check or checks off.  If you do not pay the bad checks off to the county attorney in that time then an arrest warrant will be issued for your arrest.  Also they all told me that no company can have you arrested for debt.  They said that not even a real collection company can have you arrested.

Also a real collection company must send you a letter to verify the debt.  Ask for a letter from these people and they will not send you a letter.  Also an real collection company must state the line this is an attempt to collect a debt.  These people do not say that.

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK INFORMATION OR A PRE PAID DEBIT CARD INFORMATION.  They will use that to say you gave them permission to take funds from your account or preapaid card.

To make them give up sooner if not that day tell them you are reporting them to the FBI and BBB.  Also say that you are on the way to your lawyers office right now.  Hope this helps keep you from going through what I have before with another company.
