They have called me and I've tried to pay the legitimate debt and they sold it to these scammers who threaten legal action which is against the law ,my advice never get in the payday loan system .never a gain.they've said id be served .

They called my family members threatening them. Nobody cosigned on anything and they are buying old debt and then threatening people. They call leaving a number saying if you don't call them back they will serve you with paper work unless you call back and pay. This is illegal and CAN NOT BE DONE!! They are NOT allowed to call you at work and harass you. Report the numbers to the FBI and other agencies. Even if you have debt, NOBODY is supposed to harass or threaten you... They are taking it too far... Don't call them back. Contact a credit or debt attorney and get help to handle your debt. We all have some sort of debt and all need help getting over our struggles. If it wasn't illegal they wouldn't call and threaten or hang up on you. They aren't allowed to do anything to you.. Your best defense is to learn YOUR RIGHTS! Nobody can scare you if you know your rights as a consumer. Take the power out of their hands and put it into yours..  

Don't call them back, don't entertain the idea of their lies and complain them to the proper authorities...

See my reply above....I would call them and in your case if you know the person (family member) just say you do not and that this is your private cell/home/whatever number and has been for some time. Ask them to please not call anymore since they have the wrong number. I honestly didn't know this person they were asking for, but when I called they were very kind and professional; apologized for bothering me twice. :)

I was getting TONS of these calls from this number, with a message that was clearly stating they were looking to contact a man named "Michael X". I just called back the number on my id and explained I don't know this person, and this has been my cell number for over a year now; this Michael gentleman must have had my mobile number in the past. I confirmed MY phone number and asked that they stop calling. The guy was super nice, especially when I said you are calling repeatedly during my two toddlers' naptime and please stop.

Took a few minutes and never got a call back. :) Do it!

Hi, they just called me again, did not answer, and same type of recorded message everyone else receives.  Please C my 25JAN14 post.  Since then, I put on my wife's and my BlackBerry contacts their number and put as SCAM and Do Not Answer!  They have been on me since B4 Christmas last year and a couple of times I did answer and after a spell I cussed them out which I know is wrong but they still call!  they take this abuse all for a commission!  Perverts!    This one thinks they are smart by soundin' American clear Englisch speakin' folks!

These people not only harass people, but they are now officially covering for an identity thief.  I have had my identity stolen from me twice (once about three years ago, and again last year), and these people called me and, when I answered, they had a robot tell me that they were looking for the scum bag that I thought had stolen my identity in both cases.  When I requested to speak to a real person, they hung up on me.  I have tried to call them back, and they refuse to answer the phone.  I talked to the police (as I did when I learned that my identity was stolen), and they told me that, if these people do not cooperate by providing them information, then there is nothing that they can do to the person who stole my id.  I am a disabled veteran who worked hard all my life to get what I have, and I lost my military retirement because I did not have a full 20 years completed in the military (I had 2 years left until my retirement when I broke my back), so my money is precious to me.  These people won't give me or the police any information about the scum bag (who they are looking for because he ran up debts using my stolen id), and so he is going to get away with it thanks to these people not cooperating with the police (unless other evidence comes to light).  I, like James, am trying to be a good christian and forgive them, but they are helping this scum bag ruin me at this point (because of what this id thief did to me, I am going to have to declare bankruptcy.  I have lost everything because of this id thief, and these people won't help me or the police at all to bring him to justice ).  People like this should not be in business, because as far as I am concerned at this point, they are nothing more than criminals and accessories to this crime.  I hope they are proud of themselves.

They R so like annoyin'!  They have called me since B4 Christmas, had my old address but this time they got smart and got my new one, most likely through my local Credit Bureau.  I agree, they sound like so American verses India personnel!  Wow that "scared me".  They said that they are with National Recovery.  Told me I have a payday loan never paid back from Advance America like 4 years ago!  Agree with other posts, they must have bought a wrote off debt list(s) from companies like Advance America, contacted your local credit bureau to get updated info or perhaps it is on credit bureau list anyway.  I will wait to see if local Sherriff's Department serves a warrant of debt @ new address like they swore would happen at old address in my local area.  Your phone numbers are most likely on credit bureau files also plus phone numbers on original debt be it on line or in person @ store.  They call my wife's and my number all the time which are smartphone numbers.   First person that answered 1 on asked for information which I played along and verified, then she transferred me to someone else who was rude as heck.  Said we have talked to you before and I said like duh, I told U then I wasn't payin' the amount and U still call.  He said pay your debt, "I said since it has been over 4 years, prove I didn't pay the debt!"  He said I should prove it that I paid it and I said U R callin' me so the burden of proof is upon yourself and I said every time you call, I record date and time and I have already contacted my attorney that I have on another valid legal matter and she said that folks like us can sue this company up to 1K or 1.5K each call, repeat each call due to some Telephone Act in place.  I said don't call ever again and said good bye and hung up, they didn't call back, I thought they might!   My advice and from personal experience, don't get riled up like I did and raise your blood pressure, just ignore call or when call comes in, pick up phone and hang up that way they can not leave their retarted message.   I do like to play along with them sometimes. and it pleases me that the caller will never collect a "commission" off of me!  That is why they get pushy and nasty, basically salesmen\women that get a commission for every person they con!   I have played along with this company a couple of times and they still call, they hate it when U call them out on gettin' or lack of gettin' a commission as I like to waste their time.  They will not learn for it is their "job" but if I can make their job like suck a little each time, more power to myself and to y'all my friends!  Plus I like to waste their company's money on the long distance phone call to us.  So if they call, you answer, they get charged a connection call  or a charge for the to leave a message.  I am not one to like to listen to VM and have to clear it out and so on, waste of my time!  Blessed Be!
I actually pray for these individuals that call and threaten folks over the phone as it is easy for them since there is no face to face contact as I ask GOD to forgive them for they know what they do!  For folks like this that have no conscious, I feel pity for them!  Most likely a part time job for these folks!

Automated message has called our place of business several times. Most recently I pressed 1 to ask them to remove the business number as do to company policy, we do not take personal calls for employees. Rep refused and insluted my customer service skills for refusing to take and pass on a message. She interrupted several times and was yelling at me, refusing to listen. I finally had to hang up. B*****ds call everyday...christmas...weekends...night time....collection agency that tries to sound fancy with threats however theyre just stuck with a debt/ ding already reported to your credit. Blocking the number...if it wasnt automated id tell them to f*** off.

They called me w same and than called my parents house! They need to be stopped! ive had to deal w these a**holes for years now, but numbers always changing

They call with a theat that If you dont press 1 there will be further action taken..... They were looking for someone In my family...  HOW DID THEY GET MY NUMBER?    This is harassment ! If this happenss again , THERE WILL be leagal action

They keep calling me saying I took out a loan that I did not back in 2010.  They say they have video footage of me walking into some loan place, but will not tell me anything else or show me a video.  Ugh! They have all this bogus information on me and when I deny the information they try to correct it!

Cawley and Bergmann Collection Agency....a real bottom feeder in a completely corrupt industry.  Buys old debt and threatens with action.  New York Based.  BBB, FTC and FBI are alerted to their calls.  

They call at least 5 times a day on my cell, on my hone phone and some how now called on my sister's cell phone.  Usually it comes up as a "Restricted" number.  I have talked to them a couple of times telling me I am going to be served and than they have called many times.  Etc Etc.  It is truly making me crazy.  I just mute the call now.

They called me again just now - same number, I picked up then hung up. Tired of them calling. I still can't figure out how they got my number. I've had friends calling me telling me that they've gotten the same call trying to reach me. WTF?! Who are they?

They are calling my cell everyday using scare tactics and its not me they want. They are asking for someone else but how did they get my number?

Called my cell and stated that they have been unable to contact me after several attempts. In order to prevent further action to press 1 and then the phone hung up. I don't even know how they got my cell number.

Called me and told me that my food assistance would be taken and I would be arrested for an overdraft that the bank has already admitted was made in error.
