Received call from a Private number so I did not answer, the person left a message saying that he was an Investigator Moretti from the area where I used to live, and I should call the petitioner at 716-995-4260 if I did not know what this was about. The caller then stated they along with the County Sheriff have been attempted to serve me with court documents at my address and my work several times and if I was not available the next time they . There are three things wrong right there. First I do not work, I am on disability. Second, not only am I home all day long, my wife works from home. And the county sheriff accompanying him has no jurisdiction where I live.

if anyone has been called and told a summons would be served, or legal action was pending, or anything criminal was implied, file a complaint with the NYS Attorney General's office by calling 716-853-8404

Says he's an investigator in my county, coming to my home and/or work tomorrow to serve me with something.  No other information, it was a tape-recorded message.

Nope - no name or address given, although an earlier poster said they were told it was "Bill Lombardi" from Columbia County calling.  Of course, when investigated, the poster found out there is no such person as "Bill Lombardi" at Columbia County, and the police stated it was a scam.

I been getting the same calls by alleged reeding investigator as well. My best friend just got a call a week ago and was upset for me. Then I got a call at work today. I had my co worker ask for his alleged badge number , business id or license,  and to cease contact.  the calls started happening after my phone was stolen not sure if it was related. I called back the number its a recording for what sounds like a company law office I dont beleive law offices are that ignorant to the FCC and attorney generals office. its illigeal to misrepresent your self and courts dont call you to summons you thats stupid. I asked them to send me a letter

I have been getting phone calls from this number for 3 weeks now. The first one I received was at work from an investigator Martinez threathening me with a civil law suit if I didn't call him back. I didn't call him back the papers never came when he said they would. He called me back a week later but this time he contacted my parents which I don't think was right they have nothing to do with it. I don't know what to do. That guy has called my parents yet again this time it will be on Wednesday I will be served papers at work or at my house. I finally broke down and called the number they gave which is 1-716-995-4260 and it rang and rang then real loud noise like a fax machine. Just want them to stop harrassing my parents and leave them along.

My sister-in-law called me today to tell me that she received a call from a Bill Lombardi with Columbia County, and that he was trying to serve me court papers at (such-n-such) address (which was an address I haven't lived at for 4 years).  He told her that he will try to serve me at that address up to three times, and that I will be fined over $100 for each attempt at serving those papers.  Here's the kicker, the phone number he gave her to have me return the call to is a phone number for Buffalo, NY... Columbia County is in Wisconsin.  So, I called the Columbia Cty Sheriff's Dept and asked if they knew of anyone in Columbia Cty who was authorized to serve me court papers.  They heard of no such name, and the Sheriff I spoke with even Googled the number, coming up with all kinds of reports of spam and harrassment coming from this Buffalo, NY phone number.  The phone number is 716-995-4260.  I now will NOT be calling that number, because I know that in fact they are not trying to serve me with court papers.  They are either a bill collector impersonating a Columbia Cty Official, or it's some sort of a hoax.  Either way, I refuse to call them, and I told my sister-in-law to report them to the proper authorities if they continue to harass her in their attempt to find me.

1- LEGITIMATE debt collectors don't "stating that a member of my family would be served a civil court summons." -- Actually, you don't even call before you are served a summons from anyone.

2- with this type of "debt collector," it has nothing to do with the alleged debtor having listed you as a reference.  They're just calling anyone and everyone who even might know the person.

3- expect to get more calls, for them to call you a liar, threaten YOU with a lawsuit/jail/fines, etc because you won't have the person call them and pay the debt.

4- they will not send any Debt Validation Letter through the US Mail (per the FDCPA rules).  You are simply supposed to believe what they tell you.

This is a prevalent scam now-days.  They don't care WHO sends them money, as long as someone does.  And, IF you pay them anything thinking the calls will stop ... well, you thought WRONG.

Did they happen to leave a call-back number, or is this the call-back number?  If this is the call-back #, what number did they call you from?

I have been getting the same calls from this number and he says his name is investigater Reading saying the same thing you stated.  I'm thinking it may be a bill collector and how they got your number is when the family member or friend was asked to put references down they unfortunately put us down and now we are being hasseled as well.  What i did was block the number from my cell phone.
