This phone number is not a working number, so the call is most likely spoofed or dialed through the internet so it's untraceable.  Most likely a scam if the caller is making the effort to conceal their true identity.

I've found a solution that worked for me I'd like to share.This number called over 50x in a week I finally had it so,the last time they called I answered by screaming at the top of my lungs and they stopped calling!! If screaming isn't an option for you then try any loud obnoxious noise you can think of!!

BTW, some people have posted to this discussion saying that the original power companies, like PPL and MET ED and PECO were direceted by the government to give out our phone numbers to these vermin who pester us to switch our electric provider. According to PPL, they were directed to supply account information to LICENSED alternate electricity providers, but that they did NOT include phone numbers in that information.  Probably many if not most of these pests who call us are not even licensed, and they are in violation of DO NOT CALL state and federal regulations.

Received multiple calls, answered none since ID was ILLEGAL SCAM; returned one time, nobody at the other end, received message for calling a number not in service. Isn't technology great for reprobates in our society?

I see alot of people are getting calls from this number.   I keep getting them.  I answered once and they hung up.  But they keep calling, leaving blank messages and wasting my time.   These scammers need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent.  They are not only annoying, they are the scum of the earth, especially trying to rip off unsuspecting older folks.   I am going to find out who they are and report them.  In fact, we should all report this to our respective attorney general's office.  File a consumer complaint. I am also on a do not call list.   Pisses me off they think they can do this.  They should be careful who they call.  Hopefully, a cop or investigator, attorney, or other law enforcement will get a call and look into this mess.   Shame on them.  In fact, screw them.  I hope they get caught soon.

Caller ID says ILLEGAL SCAM, yup, it surely does!  They left no message.

If it is somebody calling about selling you electricity at a better rate, and if you are inclined to be sucked into the "deregulated" market for electricity generation, please be aware that these scammers offer low rates at first, but that the agreement often contains the information that the rates after a certain period are "variable." Sort of like the banksters with their credit cards. There was an article by Paul Muschick in the Allentown Morning Call on Friday and another on Sunday on this topic.

Some people in Pennsyvlania saw their price per kilowatt hour go from just over $.10 to over $.44, so that their bills are astronomical for January and February. (My cost per KW hour is just over $.07, because we stayed with PPL. ) The original providers are still regulated, but these fly-by-night alternate electricity generating companies are not regulated. That, I am guessing,  is why PPL is trying to divest themselves of the electrical generation unit in their outfit. Some character named Bob Mensch, who is in the state legislature, has introduced a bill to force everybody to participate in the deregulatated electricity market. What a blinkin' scam. Our intrepid state Senator Lisa Boscola has said so in those very words. I vote for Lisa. Bob Mensch should take a long walk off a very short pier, into a very cold body of water.

constant calls from this number each day.caller id says illegal scam. my call blocker cuts them off each time they try to call.still reporting it.these scammers need to be fined.

Received a call from 717-547-0959.  Suspect some scam. Did not call back. 717 is Harrisburg, PA.

Got a call from that same number 717 547 0959 I didn't answer left no.message. id said illegal scam, incredible.

Got it twice today. Caller ID came up "Illegal Scam". Didn't leave a message either time - just hung up.

ID says illegal scam, asking about discount electric service.

Number NOT disconnected; just got a call from it also labeled "illegal scam" on ID.

Just had them call minutes ago.  Same caller ID:  Illegal Scam...  

For once they are being honest about themselves..  

Mine came up the same way.  They did the annoying thing of leaving a voice mail message but didn't say anything at all, making my phone blink, using up the battery.  I do wonder who would answer a call identified as such?

I do not know who called but i do know the caller id showed it as an illegal scam call ..it rang twice and hung up

Illegal Scam showed up in my caller ID-received call 2/28/14 @ ~2:50pm.I did not answer and they did not leave message.

I obviously didn't answer the call...it was apparent to me that it was really a "illegal scam" , as the caller id identified it !

Got this one to day w/ "Illegal Scam" as the caller ID, must be a PO'd employee there--as a famous fast food chain jingle goes--I"m lovin' it!! LOL

You won't believe this- My phone's id caller came up " illegal scam" and showing the number: 717-547-0959. 1st time it's ever willing wrote that. Can you imaging some old person falling for some spam call try ing to sell something?

This is certainly a different twist.  Either some Robin Hood typed hacked into the telemarketer's account to expose them for what they are, or the telemarketers are hoping that more people would pick up to see what the "illegal scam" is all about.

The caller ID came up "Illegal Scam".  Yes, this is exactly the called ID that came up on the screen while watching tv.  (FIOS tv)  I was laughing when I answered the phone because I had to answer this call. Unfortunately, nobody was no the other end.  Oh well.  I felt like being amused at their expense.

Just got a call from this number also.  I Have no idea who it could either, as I never call back or answer numbers that I don't know.  Not good; Especially when they are calling my personal cell phone and don't leave a message.
