I saw this on the news and googled the number and found this site! I still have my 973 area code (NJ number) that I haven't changed since I moved to PA over a year ago. Seeing as they're only sending it to 717 numbers I myself am relieved but will notify everyone I know with the PA area code about this scam. Ya never know who's going to fall for it. I just can't believe somebody DID fall for it and lost that much money!

I can't believe someone lost over $2,000 on a scam from this very phone number.  This is why we're bombarded with this crap... some people actually do fall for it.

I got the same message to call 717-553-6918 at 9:39 pm on Sat night, July 7 from 17173295235. Wise enough not to call. Will send a complatint to the PA Attorney General office; would encourage all to do the same. I too have AT&T; so far neither hubby or daughter received one that I know of, and we are all on the same AT&T account.

Received text from 7173295235 saying to cal 7175536918 about a credit card getting deactivated. I have no such card.

Received a text message this morning from Belco credit union telling me they deactivated my card.. I do not have a credit card with this company.. you call back and they ask you to give your 16 digit number, if you do not then the call is disconnected.

On Saturday Evening, I Received similar text as posted by others here, however the text appeared to have originated from a different cell number 717 329-5235..
This afternoon, my girlfriend received the EXACT Same message showing the EXACT same originating number referencing the EXACT same 4 digits Card, and instructing she call 717 533-6918.

We both immediately recognized this as an obvious fraud, however we saved the text with intent to deliver both phones to her boss on Monday. (Oh, did I neglect to mention she works just across the river from Harrisburg in the office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office?)

Same message here. Called local police department about it last time.  They weren't too interested in fact sounded a bit annoyed that I bothered them about it.

Same Text Same Message. I'm planning to call Belco tomorrow just to let them know. They have an anti-theft department. I wonder if the State Police would be interested in this?

It's nice to know we ALL share the same credit card!  I just got a text from 717-350-9016 saying the exact same thing that everyone else has said earlier telling me to call 717-553-6918. I am with AT&T and wondered if I can really report it by the earlier comment by texting AT&T at 7726.

I don't know about other cell phone carriers, but AT&T asks for there customers to "REPORT UNWANTED TEXT OR PICTURE/VIDEO MESSAGES... TO 7726 -AT NO CHARGE- FROM YOUR WIRELESS PHONE..."   your carrier - if your not with at&t; may have another number to forward it to... hope this helps.

Received the same text as Reagan from the same source # at 7:35pm on 7/7.

Some credit card companies begin all of their cards with the same 4 digits.  I know Discover does.  So these dirt-bags were hoping to get some people to bite by using the same first 4 digits that probably some Central Pa local credit union uses.

Received the same text message as others above at 8:24:30 PM 07.07.2012.
Message source phone number is 717.329 5235.
Also do not have a card with this number.

Seems I'm not the only one who got this one, though mine came at 2:40 PM.  No attempt to block the number they sent it from is weird.

just received a text saying my credit card (not the last four of any of my cards) saying the card was DEACTIVATED and to call this number.  Googled the number I was to call and this is what I got!  Needless to say - I'm not calling.  oh ... and I can see another phone number noted at the top "1-area code and phone number" ... legitimate place is going to show me other's being notified?

I also got the same text message at 4:30 this afternoon. No such credit card number. I'm just curious how they got my cell phone number.
