I agree, you can tell people what they need to do but they don't get the bigger picture. No it doesn't happen overnight but if you put the time to save all your calls ( for evidence) and write up a complaint to file at the courthouse you go after these douches like they do to you. I have been filing complaints and winning thousands of dollars by settling out of court for quite some time now people need to know the proper steps to take to make them stop wasting your time there is just a lot more to it then registering your number on the do not  call list and people need to know all the facts before they just give up completely.

Google your name and number as well, anyplace such as Spokeo that shows up, make them remove it. Always keep forums and places such as FB set to private. The thing here is the numbers are almost always spoofed numbers. They don't need lists, just plumb numbers into a dialer or computer.  Then you also have this along with other security breach's that are not helpful:

The card services scams, which has been going on for years, goal is to get credit card numbers from people who fall for their line of lowering their interest rate on cards. As long as YOU know it is a scam, don't answer calls from numbers you are not familiar with--but more importantly pass on the word about these criminals to others, thus cutting off their sources of revenue, and hopefully the calls will diminish and cease. Some people see the value in reporting them as violators of the do not call registry, but seeing as they use all spoofed (false) numbers, that is questionable. Others try to block the incoming calls, but the scammers change their numbers frequently, so that can be an ongoing process.

This number constantly calls our home, sometimes there will be the robo call message this is your final call about lowering your interest rate on your credit card/cards.  Please hold for the next available representative.  When we have answered the phone and wait to actually get a person, it is just dead air, and no one is there.
We are on both our States DNC list and the National/Federal DNC List. We are reporting these numbers every time they call and file a complaint for each call.  It be 5 complaints for one number that continually calls. But we file each complaint separately.
We just hope that at some point action will be taken by someone or something to make these calls STOP.
It is tiresome and endless at times, but overall we have seen a huge decrease in the amount of calls we get. Not sure if it has anything to do with reporting them or not.

Same scam, new number.

I usually don't answer, but this time I just quietly pressed the speakerphone button and listened.  Silence.  Then click ... click ... another click.  After about 40 seconds they were finally able to disconnect.  At one time you could tie up a telemarketer's line like that indefinitely.  But not anymore, unfortunately.

BTW, there's a new call blocker coming out.  Check it out at http://callcontrolhome.com/

If you get a call from this telemarketer, please file a complaint with the FCC and FTC: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. If they receive enough complaints, they'll investigate. In addition, they send information on how to file a lawsuit. If enough of us file and win, that should have an impact. What a great revenge, earning money FROM them! Information on their website says the FCC have shut down several of these scams.

I think this number is a "first," but wish it was the last.  We get so many annoying calls, we don't even answer the house phone anymore.  When will someone come up with a way to end this madness.

This number showed up on my caller ID claiming to be a cell phone number, just another way in tricking the person receiving the call to pick up the phone.  A recording told me that I can reduce my credit card interest rates. . . well, I don't own any credit cards, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.  Federal government needs to start cracking down on these calls.

This is a new number showing up on Caller ID.  I don't even bother to answer the phone anymore, seems to be for the convenience of people with "no life".  Once again, I didn't make the call, so I'm sure I don't want to talk to you about anything!

These low life scammers call multiple times per day..no need to tell them to take you off the list.  DNC list is another waste of taxpayer dollars just as the salaries of Congress are. Congress might be the largest body of corrupt people in the US so don't expect them to help.

Got a call from the 1(717)-608-7443 number today and pressed 1 for customer service. When she answered I went along with it until, she asked for my credit card number when I told her I don't have any credit cards and wished to be removed from the calling list. She started screaming and cussing into the phone how I was wasting HER time. Um... Cause I called her in the middle of the day asking for her credit card number, sure ok. I'm not sure how to report this number other than to plaster it up online for everyone to see.

these calls are robocalls, and are illegal. report them to the FTC, if they get enough complaints, they will charge them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0341-file-complaint-ftc
it is very quick and easy to register a complaint.
please do! they are most likely scams, as well.

Received a call from this number today.

I immediately blocked the number before my answering system picked up the call.

The "Do Not Call" list was set up for "law-abiding" companies and those companies DO abide by it. - Obviously, these parasites are breaking the law and couldn't care less since they spoof their number. Don't expect the federal government to do anything about it. Our only recourse is to keep blocking them. Yes, it sucks, but there is no other practical alternative.

Panasonic makes a phone system that allows you to block up to 250 numbers.

I am to the point that I block any number that I don't recognize and then research it to see if it is a good call or not. - So far, every unknown number has turned out to be a scammer.
