I beg to differ regarding your whitewashing of the "PHEAA Phules:" I am 67, have been a 160-percent disabled veteran since 1997, and have PAID OFF (and therefore NOT OWED!) any (ANY!!!) student loans since 1989.
Despite this, those "PHEAA Phules" have recently been badgering me many times a day (I have the caller-ID logs) demanding $$$.
Guess what: NOBODY can "Attach" a VA Disability Pension, despite what a "PHEAA Phule" had alleged in a threatening call.
It's simply impossible to get money out of a malignant tumor, in any case.
As I told the last two "PHEAA Phules:" I am dying. I get home hospice care. I have no living relatives. I have no assets.
Nor have I any intentions of paying an unjust "debt."
What can they do? Jail a wheelchair-ridden veteran who requires three liters of oxygen 24/7, who is on a couple dozen different medications every day, and who has also "Coded" three times in the past year? It would require a fully-equipped ICU suite with MDs & RNs on hand, 24/7, to "jail" me.
Your "Heroes" are not such.
Merely sadistic vermin.
Catch you "On The OTHER SIDE" . . . .
(By the feel of things, I shan't be here much longer.)

PHEAA is the parent company of AES and FedLoan Servicing. It's the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. They are a nonprofit organization. They give millions of dollars in grants to PA students each year.

I really got a thumbs down for trying to be informational. I'm sorry if your only suppose to come on here to let the world know you want to ignore your obligations. And at the very least do a little more research on the company before you call it a SCAM!

Keep in mind that AES does not have to be BBB accredited because it is a government agency.
Also, a lot of students will sign some one up as a cosigner without there knowledge. You have to actually tell the servicer it was fraud or you are responsible, and if you claim fraud you may have to prosecute the student who used your information (a lot of times this person is your child, grandchild, relative) so 9x out of 10 nobody wants to do that. So speak to the reps at the very least to make sure your credit is not being destroyed!

How did that lawsuit work out for you?
words of wisdom 2013-10-14 01:05:32 Unknown
If you borrowed a student loan it is your responsibility to make sure your current address and phone # are updated. You also listed references on your master prom note that allows servicers such as AES to call your references to provide your current information if they have it, but not for them to receive details about your account. The only time references are called is if your address or phone number went invalid. It does not necessarily mean your account is delinquent. If AES is asking for your DOB it is either because they have an account for you that you are actually responsible for or someone with the same name as you had invalid information and they used directory assistance and ended up with a "bad" number (if this is the case they will remove your phone # since it was listed on someone else's account), verifying your DOB can ensure it is your account or it is not. AES services student loans on behalf of multiple lenders, they have to authenticate who you are when you call or even if they call you before releasing details of your account. If you are delinquent than they want to help resolve the delinquency, and of course it is in your best interests if they ask if you can make a payment first. If you say no, than they will try to offer other options based on your eligibility. Good Luck!

Got a message from this number at work, "This is an urgent message for (insert boss' name here) from American Education Services..." The message cut off before I could get any further information. Sad thing about it is my boss passed away in April, so I'm not even sure if it was a legitimate call or not. I'm gonna wait until they call again and then I'll contact his wife to see if she is getting similar calls.

they have called before but i never answered. Today i decided to answer. wish i hadn't!! The lady asked for me by my ex-married name. I explained that was me but that we have divorced. She said she needed to verify my DOB and i told her no. She also would not tell me what the call was in reference to. All she would say was that it was about ex-husbands loans. but she couldnt give more info unless i verified my DOB. Ugh!! We went round and round for about 2 minutes then she hung up on me. What a crock!!

some one called would not give me their name but wanted my DOB to verify I was not the person they wanted.
If this is the case , why not verify who you are (Penna) . I deserve to know who is trying to get information from me.
NeeNee 2013-09-17 15:45:01 Unknown
I believe this actually IS AES but.. until they leave a message, I am assuming it must not be that important for me to return their call.
Rebeccs6909 2013-09-10 16:50:51 Unknown
It is aes, if you have moved and mail has come backto them or they have changed anything ( like privacy rights) they are just trying to get current with you.
ughhh.... 2013-08-28 19:54:49 Unknown
He isn't a scanner. It its AES. You make yourself sound idiotic!!!

I think to respond to people the way you did is rude and obnoxious. You pretty much made a generalization that everyone in this forum do not make payments to their accounts and are all delinquence in their AES loans. Many of the people in this forum seem to be keeping up with their loans. Maybe AES needs to keep up with their own policy unless their policy is to mismanage accounts and harass people.
I do have an AES loan which I have a co-signer for. My co-signer JUST informed me that AES called her asking her to pay for the delinquent account and was told that AES has been trying to get a hold of me. First of all, I have received emails from AES but none of which informed me of any delinquency because my account is, in fact, current. Secondly, I made a payment and even have the email receipt to prove I did. Third, I checked my account and EVERYTHING (mailing address, email, and phone number) that was there was all current.
So I don't know what you are saying when you mentioned "consequences" and "missing important information". Apparently everything is up to date yet AES tells my co-signer that they have been trying to get a hold of me? Oh and what a coincidence, as soon as I made the payment today to my account which wasn't in delinquency, that is when I get a phone call from this stupid 717 number - no voicemail no nothing. No AES - that is not what it means by "trying to get a hold of".
Ridiculous to the nth degree. If they mismanage my account any more than they already did in the past, I'm definitely taking legal action.

They just called me, they wanted to update my information-- weird how my address hasn't changed in 30 yrs and they still want to make sure I'm getting my mail- has anything been sent back? They have to be the most unknowledgable people to deal with. I hate, HATE having to deal with them! She asked to update my phone number and I told her the one she called was good- she didn't know that number, I wouldn't give it to her. She wanted me to varify my DOB, I wouldn't give it to her. I asked her to pull up my accounts to make sure they were current (because they are -- and to make my point to stop calling me) she said she can't access my accounts. She then asked if I would give them permission to leave automated messages on my phone- I told her no, that I would like a representative to call me if there was a problem- and she said that don't do that. It was alllll circles like normal with those people!

This number showed up on my granddaughter's phone, and she is only 13 years old. Good Grief!

This number calls me repeatedly between 10 PM and 11 PM, and does not leave a voicemail. I'm sorry, but those are not considered normal business hours and do not see the need for them to blow my phone up in the middle of the night. If you don't leave a message and I don't recognize the number, I will NOT call you back. Especially after seeing all these posts and seeing how horrible of a company they are to deal with.
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Withheld 2013-07-19 17:36:39 Unknown
I truly hope you are just a call center employee who took it upon themselves to post this. If you are the PR for the company in this matter, they should really think about a replacement. This is a terribly unprofessional response. I have screen captured it and will be sending it to your company. I am sure they would like to know how people are representing the company.

I just received a call from this number, but when I answered they hang up. What is going on. Is this a legit company???

Multiple calls per day, threatening my elderly mother about a loan that my niece took out and is 10 days late on her last payment on.
Complaint filed with FTC for violations of fair credit act and we'll be speaking with a Lawyer and filing a LAWSUIT against this company.

I received numerous calls from this person/company. I finally just now called aes and the woman I spoke with said that they ARE NOT affiliated with this number. She double checked their directory to confirm that this is not a number they use. I have received calls in the past from aes and they always leave a message and the number which is always 1-800 number shows on the caller ID as aes too. These must be scammers. DO NOT give them any personal info or confirm anything!!! if they are real debt collectors the will have ALL YOUR INFO and you don't have to give them anything, not even your mailing address!

Don't know why they are calling me. They do not leave messages and they hang up when I answer the telephone. I have no business with them but if they keep calling me you can bet I will have business with them.

Amazing that you claim to work for a company that deals with student loans, yet don't even know the difference between your & you're! Good God, this country is going to he** in a hand basket!

I don't do business on my cell phone. I don't know how they got my number !!!
Jen 2013-04-05 13:15:19 Unknown
We get a call from this number OVER 10 times a week! They never leave a message. All student loans are up to date and current.
Bob 2013-04-05 02:47:52 Unknown
I have been recieving these calls for several days. My wife answered the other day and they wanted to talk to me and were hazy as to what the call pertained to. They called again today and I was home. I answered and they asked my birthdate. I asked why they needed the info and was told they couldnt tell me untill I verified my birthdate, but that it was in reguards to someone I helped get into college. the person I supposedly helped was no one I had ever heard of.

May I suggest that, if this is the best Educatin the American Educatin Services can provide for the money, you would be fully entitled to make no further payments.
