It's AES calling    I guess until president Numbnuts makes student loan forgiveness a reality, we'll still get calls.  Although, he should be worrying about the bigger issues of the day.. ILLEGAL alien law breakers slamming our borders, giving terrorists get out of jail free cards,  the slagging economy, trying to be the messiah he sold the unsuspecting US that he was, etc.    I WILL PAY for the education I got and agreed to pay for, it's just taking longer than anticipated.

I know who you are, Advisor,  you are the same people making the calls right cause you are not getting it it is not the (AES/PHEAA) people calling it is someone trying to get you to give money where money is not owed. so calling the number on the statement from (AES/PHEAA) will not help.

I have graduate and undergraduate student loans services by both AES and by Sallie Mae. I just spoke with both groups who service my loans and everything I owe has been deferred or brought current after a period of underemployment for both my husband and for me. Call whoever services your loans directly. I have had the same harassment and collection law violations from this third party agency as others from the messages I've read. I am going to dig deeper and report them. The gentleman I spoke with from Sallie Mae told me that none of my loans were sent to third party agencies. This is infuriating! I had someone harassing me at work (not legal in PA) who apparently had nothing to do with AES or Sallie Mae. Ugh!

This AES calls all hours of the day and night.  I do have student loans,  but DUH  don't have a full time job, so how do they expect me to pay them off??   they haven't been very helpful in assisting someone who needs the extra help to pay them.  they never leave a message,  and they continue call even as late as 10:00PM.

This is NOT AES. Call AES directly from the number on their website and they will confirm this. I called and the representative said that this is not a legit AES #. I knew something was shady because I am not behind on any of my student loans. I have received so so so many scam related calls and whenever anyone says that they are calling from an organization like AES, PNC, Wells Fargo etc, I call them back on the numbers listed on their website. I never call these idiots directly. I hope that someone is doing something to stop this madness.

I saw the spelling error too and am quite the stickler with spelling, but, you are correct....it is rude and obviously the reader knows what you are saying.  It only made you look like a foreigner which is frustrating but you can tell from your response...you are not! Good response to the dope! :-)

These people just started calling me too. They have no reason to. So my best advice to everyone is join the do not call registry. After 31 days you can turn them in. They will get in trouble. She sounded ready for a fight, put me in a bad mood right off.

They are just beggers...give them a dime...

It is AES out of Harrisburg PA.  They are a student loan company.  They may get wrong numbers occasionally,  but they usually call the right people who owe them money.

It really is debt collection: AES student loans.  I'm 4 months behind on mine and can pay everything up on May 15th.  I called them (the AES number) and let them know and they said that was OK (although late fees will add up). They did warn me that I'd still get automatic calls from their default prevention line (this is in case I don't make any payment by August when I will be in default).  Basically AES people said they had to stop putting a block on the default line because people kept stringing them along saying they'd pay 'next month'.  Then they don't have a 'record' of making calls. I guess it helps that I've been in this situation several times and always pay up (had the loans for 9 years but every few years get 3-5 months behind).  This is first year I've got numerous calls though.

Mr. Advisor:
If they are not required to leave a message, then the person they called is not required to return the call if they do not know who they are in the first place. If they want their payment, then they should leave a message with a proper toll free call back number. I know AES has a proper call back number and they always leave a message or they show up on caller ID as AES/PHEAA, not with this number and not saying the city only esp when they are calling within the same state the person they are calling resides in their state in the first place.

Then if you are an Advisor then you must work for this company or something like it. If someone has an answering machine and their caller ID is not identifying the company's name on the caller ID, then a message should be left on the ans mach. with a proper call back number (like a toll free number) most legit collections agency's leave a message and AES leaves a message when they call, so dose Lowes, NCO, Verison, etc... It is the lesser known ones that call from numbers that just indicate the city that seem and look fishy. This is why people do not call them back. 717-720-2446 is a perfect example of why people do not call back. It is not a rec. number and looks very fishy when they do not leave a proper message.

get calls constantly from this number....it's AES, and yea i'm behind on my loans.  I just login in to my verizon account webpage and there's an option to block numbers.  I put their number on the list and it's blocked for 90 days for free, i suggest you all do the same!

just call AES yourself from the number on their website and hang up and try again if you get someone rude!

Obvious P.H.E.A.A. plant message - no reason YOU are the only one they are civil to.  Many other posters here have also tried to politely explain that P.H.E.A.A. has an obvious wrong number, only to be verbally harassed and threatened.  Answering the phone only tells them they have a live person and encourages them to call MORE!

They called me too - from 717-720-2466, caller ID says P.H.E.A.A.  Didn't leave a message.  Any legit outfit would leave a message.  I looked it up on the internet and it's supposedly a student loan thing.  No student loans in the household, so you don't have to have a debit to get called.

Someone from this number just started calling me yesterday. My husband and I are both 65 years old and ready to retire. We definitely do not have student loans, can't anybody stop these vultures from bothering honest hard working people who just want to relax after work and not have to listen to a constant ringing phone.

I received over 8 calls in one day.  One call was after 9 pm.  This is harassment according to the collection laws.  On my cell phone the phone rings twice and then hangs up.  If I answer I'm disconnected.  Maybe looking at a class action law suit for violation of the law is in order.

This is the federal goverment's way of staying on top of collecting all thier student loan money. I have been lied to and shaken down by these people for years. My actual student loan is through ACS and this is AES, sounds a lot alike doesn't it. It gets really confusing at times to know who I am talking to. I spoke to ACS yesterday and was told I am not in default, though my act is 60 days past due. ACS' policy is not to default a loan for 270 days, meaning they will not turn it over to AES for collections until then. However, the shake down I get from AES is that my loan is about to default, even though I make a monthly payment and intent to bring it current as soon as possible. The rep tells me that they are going to place garnishments on me, when I don't even have a job right now. I tell her I don't have a job, she says then they will take my income tax return. I tell her that 60 days past due is not that far behind and relly doubt they would garnish my wages or intercept my taxes this early in the game. She says, yes we can if we feel you are not meeting your obligations. I try to talk to her about my options on bringing the account forward and she tells me I am "being difficult" and she "just can't help" me; I don't qualify for any assistance. Of course I call ACS to find out what is up and the extremely nice rep there tell me that I actually do qualify for a forberance and that the requirements she gave me are not the ones the AES rep stated. We talk a bit more and ACS says that AES just tries to "encourage" those who get behind to pay and that they "get a lot of complaints about it." He says that many customers he speaks to does not realize theat it is two different agencies and that I should just disregard the reps who call from AES as long as all of my loans are with AES. If I need help or have questions about my loans, to call ACS. As of yesterday, my forberance for the 2 months I am behind is filed and in process and hopefully once I have it approved AES will leave me alone. They truly are a bunch of gubment thugs!!!

Been receiving these calls for several days now.  Called back and spoke with a very nice, polite man who tried to determine why I would be receiving these calls.  He could not find a reason since the three people who used me as a reference for their student loans were all current  He removed my number promptly and apologized for the inconvenience.  Sometimes it is easier just to answer the phone and resolve the issue than to put up with the constant interruptions.  We'll see if the calls stop now.
