I called them back and got the stupidiest person on the planet, i explained the situation and she asked for the members name THERE IS NO MEMBER! So i told her they are just hanging up, so she asked are they leaving a member name, no you dimwit they can't leave a name when they are hanging up and not leaving a message. So she asked again who they were calling for i had to explain yet again it was a hang up call they were not leaving a message and she still seemed confused O.O has to be the federal government as only someone working for them would be that stupid!

Called and did not leave a message so I called back blocking my number using *67 and it went to an automated system for Fed Loan Services asking for ssn or loan number. I hung up. They are not getting my ssn.

Never had a student loan nor known anyone who has...they call most days. They call a number I never answer.

It is for federal loans and they want your account number do not give them your social security number  if you hit star zero to get to a customer service rep.

Someone could have put you down as a reference when applying for their loan and now this loan servicing company is calling you to get information on the person who applied for the loan initially.

"Unknown Caller"....Is called "Fed Loan Services"....No one will talk to me however outside of wanting social security # and account # of student loan account.

Number called me, no message sent. My student loans are paid off.

Just got called from this number 7177207565.  And they just stayed silent and they hung up after a few seconds.  They must have thought I sounded too mean to pull the student loan ssn pitch others have been describing above.

this number if a FEDERAL LOAN SERVICING company. If you looked into financial aid, help with getting out of debt, etc, then that's what they are calling in response to. can also be if you signed up for deals, surveys, games.

Its a collection agency..........They wanted my ssn and I don't own anyone anything.....Screw em!

Received a call from this number 10/9/2012 .  Didn't answer, because it was an unknown number to me. A very nice voice left a message about a student loan for someone I don't know.  The message said I was left as a reference for the person.  I only give out my cell to family, not even to work, but I've only had it for 3 years, so maybe before my time.

Got two calls and two voicemails from this phone number. First voicemail was not comprehensible and didn't state anything but to call back. Next voicemail stated they were from  federal loans calling in regards to (friends name) and to please call back and when calling back to give them the phone number I am calling from as the reference number. I talked with my friend, and she had no clue who they were or why they would have connected our names as she has never listed me on any type of loan app, or anything? The day before this all happened, my yahoo account was hacked? Makes me think something is going on!!

They just called and I ignored it- did not know who it was. Oh well could have been a scam.

Did not answer this call; appeared on Caller ID as Penna Comnwlth.  Voice message left stating they were calling for information about current mailing addresses and phone contacts, but did not say for whom.  So I don't know if they wanted to confirm MY mailing address or were trying to track down someone else.  Regardless, I did not return the call and will continue to not answer it if they call again.

I received a call from this number. My caller ID listed the number as " Pennsylvania Commonwealth". No message was left. If it is indeed a student loan agency..they are out of luck. I have NO loans and NO students.

might be a scam: Other people say that called mentions student loan but NOT all those who got the call had student loans. One person didn't have any loans and didn't go to college.

I agree.  I have never had a student loan. I think I will call the federal trade commission and report this number.

i just a call from this number and they need not leave a massage ....... the next time they call here i'm gonna tell them off  or just press  numbers in there ears they hate that  try it ... it works really well .. 9 times out of ten they dont call back

I received a letter first from this organization stating that my daughter had used me as a reference for her student loan and they are trying to up date contact information for her. Since she has totally lost her mind and left the state she is behind 2 months in payments and I do not have any updated contact info for her. I told them I would continue to try to get some.

They just called for an up date so this number is a legit number, if you do not have student loans or they are up to date and you are sure of this then they are calling for another reason. Normally it is because someone has used you as a reference on a student loan and they can not get in touch with the student or responsible party.
