Are you sure because I am getting several calls from this number? They never leave a message,  although when I called the number it sounds like a make shift recording.

I have received 4 calls from this number today. The recording says to hold on while the call gets connected. I hung up.

it's definitely ConEd. I just called the number on my bill and asked them to run the number. It was in fact one of their representatives who was trying to reach me in regards to a late bill.

No worries folks this is a Con Edison automated call, for past due amounts....

They are Con Ed in fact. I spoke with the guy and after verifying info I made my payment. It was apply to my Con Ed account. So, please, stop misleading people!  Legimate Con Ed

I haven't lived in NYC for 3 years, while I still have a 212 number. They said it was for a late payment and that my power was due to be shut off if I didn't make the payment. Again, I haven't lived in the city for 3 years.  Told them to shut it off then (I never told the crooks that I no longer live in the city). If you give your info to these people you deserve the identity theft that will begin to happen.

No answer on this 718 222 7178. Must report this to the police. Received the call 8:13am.

Says it's ConEd calling about my account.  Don't even live in an area where I would have a ConEd account.  Scam.

Three people kept relentlessly asking for my social and saying they were from Con Ed. I looked up the Con Ed number and even their automated menu sounded way different and more official than this number. My account is paid off in full and I called this number back to tell the lady they are scamming me and to leave me alone even though she kept insisting they are the real deal.

YUP.... CON EDISON a little reminder  you havent paid your bill and a disconnect notice :) ITS 5 days after they called and i still have power.... i paid TODAY :)

this is truly a scam, be careful, they represent themselves as conedison, tell you to purchase instant money card and get $$ from you. I was warned and didn't loose my money! BE CAREFUL!!!

Coned said its not one of their numbers; its a scam

I called Con Ed and the rep said it didn't sound legitimate. She said if there's a balance Con Ed will call the customer with an automated message asking the customer to call Con Ed's 800 number directly. She said that Con Ed doesn't receive those payments that these companies are trying to collect. I'm very happy I didn't disclose my personal information to these people. They called numerous times within a few days. It was ridiculous. I also was tipped off that something was going on because the woman kept saying I had to pay the full balance immediately whereas Con Ed allowed me to make payment arrangements.

This number has called me at least 3-6 times a day for the past week and a half and when I pick up there is no answer. GRRRRR!!!.  If I EVER find out who they are or are representing, I will report them to the police and take them to court.  This is harrassment, it is illegal and I am paid up on my damn CON ed bill, I dont think it is them.

It's ConEd. All you have to do is call the number back and it says on the message that it is ConEd. It's that simple. It couldn't be more simple or obvious.

YES. It's a collection company for Con Edison. They are an outside company not directly associated with Con Ed.

recieved a call at 7am today and another at 11. no message, no identification from caller.

yes, they've been calling me now too - glad to know it MIGHT be CONED - I may have paid late, but that bill is paid. First call - 8:30 AM, second one an hour later....and the days just begun. They might have called last week too since I got a 718 call from a number I didn't recognize and didn't leave a message. No messages - but thanks, I will not give personal info AT ALL just to be safe....

ConEd for sure.  Called the number it will say ConEd now.  First call at 8:37, 11,2 and then 5 set my phone to go straight to voicemail.  My bill is paid in full but I did get the second notice they needed payment. The red stripe envelope, I checked my bank just to make sure they were paid they were.  I also thought you couldn't call someone before 9 AM. Now they can't for me. Also never once was voicemail left.

So this number (7182227178) calls me for the third time today. First call was at 8:10 AM. I thought any type of "business" call couldn't start until 9AM by federal law? So it's 2PM and I picked up. This automated voice comes on and says "please hold while we transfer your call". Some guy on the other line says "Can I have your name and address for verification". Red Flag ... so I said to him " you called me, what's your name and where are you calling from?" He didn't answer my questions, he said it was "courtesy call" and wouldn't tell me where he was from. So I said I do not give out my information over the phone and he hung up. Unprofessional if you ask me. The funny thing is many have said they call fro ConEd, but my bill is paid for already WTF, really?
