i got the same call and it was a scam. i put my name in for a trip for 2 at a everything about sex convention and they called to say that i won. but i knew the difference once i got asked for my credit card number. its unsettling that there are scams set up at conventions and no one seems to care or do anything about it.

its a 'dream vacation' scam. they'll ask you for your credit card info to validate your winning. they shouldnt need your cc info if its a free trip!

If you bought the discounted vacation you will be traveled and you will also enjoy the vacation. It is highly discounted and we all need to save money so if i were you i would just relax and not worry about anything exept what bathinssuit and suntan lotion to bring.

me and my friend attended a comic convention in Toronto and this morning they called him telling him he won a dream vacation trip to Florida and on a cruise ship. he was too excited so he gave them his credit card number. i figured it sounded to good to be true and super sketchy since he had to give his credit card number on the spot. and the guy on the phone said his name was David Smith.

so we tried calling back and got winded through a maze of phone operators.
while we were doing research they called me telling me i had won. I knew it was fake for sure.

DONT GET FOOLED

they called from these two numbers
718-228-1763
718-530-9134

the area code is from queens new york

he just called me up saying i won a trip to the bahamas, gave me URL's to http://bahamascelebration.com/ & http://www.ourlucaya.com/, claimed its not a scam because it wouldn't be allowed to collect info from a convention like the ballet i filled out at the toronto wizard comic con at the end of march, he had all my info, but said it was a limited window of opportunity, i asked for a one hour callback so i can get in touch with the comic-con organizers to check if they were legit.

also he was fuzzy on whether someone without a passport could enter the united states (i don't think you can now with homeland security's new policies) and then tried to explain exchange rate/duty free to me as if i was a four year old.

May also be using number 718-228-0784. I got a call from this number and the one in this search. The 0784 number hit my voicemail and sounded like the guy said "oh, he hung up." I also registered for a free vacation at a local outdoor show. I think that will be the end of "free" trips for me.

I got a call from this number today - I had gone to a bridal show and they said I had entered to win a "dream honeymoon" (8 days/7 nights Bahama cruise) and I had won. They wanted $249/person to lock in my reservation. When I said I would get back to him, he said his name was Casey, he told me it would have to be the same day or the offer was gone. Flags went up! Glad I googled the number

Ya I just searched this number that's been coming up on my phone... now I see that it's due to the ballot I filled out at the Toronto Motorcycle Show on the weekend.  Why aren't these people jailed... jesus.

Hi,

Keep Guard!!

I'm pretty sure this is a scam.  Shea said I won a trip to the bahamas. She tried to legitimize it by saying the booth where I signed up at was a state-functioned event.  She was very convincing, and had an answer to all of my concerns.  But something just didn't seem right.  When I win a free trip to the bahamas, I want it to be FREE!  I did not give my cc#.

They've been calling my cell from a series of different numbers.
I made the mistake of putting my cell number on one of those "win a vacation" drawing cards at the Atlantic City, NJ Beer Fest.

8-day Vacation to Florida and Naussau Bahamas with a "Discovery" cruise.
Plus (special just for me) tix to Universal/Disney/etc. a visit with "vacation ownership". All for $249/person with credit card reservation now.

I asked them to send the specifics via mail to the address on file. She said she could not, this was the only call and must have the reservation via Credit Card now or it's not valid.

When pressed for something where i could verify them, they said they have a website RTAvacations.com with phone numbers:
1-800-231-1298 - nothing on google
1-800-238-2549 - collection agent, award center scam,

When pressed for a "confirmation" or "reservation" number i could use if i called back she told me that i wouldnt have one. I asked, "So how will they know which package is 'special just for me'? "  She told me she'd need to speak with a supervisor, and then said all the packages were the same and not to call any of the original numbers i gave her but this one instead: 1-800-206-5703 (actually is RTA vacations)

Note: rtavacations.com is a real website... but has no packages for Bahamas. and the prices are far different. Also myrtavacations.com/package-details.html  has similar details.. but enough differences (meals not covered, prices, etc.) that it might not be legit.

Don't trust it, they ask for you credit card number. FTW, I gave them my fake credit number!
