I got the same message on Feb 28th, 2012 at 5:39am. My msg read (9171256788) H5BC CRES Alert 792879. Please call 718-3600876.  Then it had call back number of 9171256788.  Now I know these things are scams of some sort SO I NEVER call or text back--especially from my CELL PHONE. i believe it will open and access your phone to whoever is scammin and calls will be made all over. I think its the Terrorists trying to access phones to call back to their country... that 718 num is def a Newyork, Brooklyn, or Queens number.   My advice DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER AND DONT TEXT BACK FROM YOUR PHONE......

Mine told me my debit card was on hold and to press a series of numbers to get it back. DO NOT REPLY!!!!!! I don't know how they know I have a mastercard either... scary world in which we live.

Got a text message saying "(9176657712) Mastercard VMTH alert 565747. Please call 718-360-0876. Tried and call from a different phone and it says that my debit has been frozen push 1 to unlock. Played along and pushed 1 and it ask me to enter my card number. I don't even own a Master card.

Received a text from 917-913-8518:"  HSBC KYYC Alert 418134. Please call 718-360-0876 ". Does it means anything? What are they thinking ? Why do I have to call them ? My number is unlisted. Is there a way to report them and sue them ?

Sent me a text before business hours (5am). Phishing attempt for personal banking information by claiming there is an alert on your account. Gave a source number as (917) 367-2914 which actually belongs to the NY's United Nations Int Crime institute. Return call is to (718)360-0876.

Any time you receive a phishing attempt or unsolic. Texts and emails you can file a complaint with the fcc. It's an online point and click form.
Also, I would suggest finding the HSBC banks customer service contact to see if they have a phishing complaint form too.

I got a call @ 7:23 am from an 818-281-8877 number and didn't answer.  Then I got a text saying 9171462333 H5BC VCKB alert  pls call 718-360-0876. Are only Verizon users getting these calls/texts?

Both my husband and my son got these texts.  HSBC is a large banking group and it looks like someone is fishing for credit card numbers.  Suggest no one call them back.

I got the same thing as everybody else. The only difference is the phone number [(917) 366-6483] that it came from, the alert number (593154), and the four letters after H5BC (HYRX).

I go the same thing at 6am.

I called the number and it says something like "your card has been locked, to unlock, press 1" then it wants you to enter your card number.  I tried to enter random numbers and it wouldn't take it. I was hoping to flood their system with a bunch of fake numbers.....bummer.
