Just received a call from Neil Fox from Finders Keepers, I simply hung up. Scam, Scam,  Scam. Periodically check the Unclaimed Funds website to see if your name appears. That is legit.

Woman called stating that my daughter has money coming to her from the State.  That for sure it was over $50, (because I asked this question)...I told her my daughter doesn't live here anymore.  She said she would send me a form to have her fill out.  I told her to send it to my address and she did.  I noted the form has to be notarized.  Now what?  Is this a scam.  Because if it is, my daughter or anyone for that matter, can't afford to be ripped off.  Number was 718-363-0588

If one is owed money by a public or private entity, the one owing can surrender the money's, and a brief statement on whom and what it's owed to the State comptrollers office. It goes on state comptrollers database, Anybody can look at for free.

Caller said she found a "tax refund" for me, jokes on Her (Debra) The state has been keeping my tax returns for College loans. I get the receipts.

got a call from Debra at Finders Keepers at this number today.  guess what she said??? she has lost assets from an old stock account of mine.  don't know how she knew I once owned stock in this certain company, but that info was pretty obscure. she offered to send me a form in the mail...and she knew my address.  perhaps she was just confirming my current address.
in any event, I'm glad i googled this number....

Neil Fox is alive and well and waking me up in the morning with the good news that he has found money for me.  I let the machine take the call and apparently a stock of mine, long forgotton, would like to send me a dividend.  Only problem was he kept calling me Michael but my name is Michelle and listed as just "M" in the phonebook. I never had stock in my life.  Sounds like fishing to me.

I just took a call from Finders Keepers @ 718-363-0588. They called first and hung up because my voice mail does not give my name. I answered and was told I had an old Wellpoint Insurance check and then said that
she another for a similar address but probably mine. I've spent the past 2 months having private information removed from public search engines and now according to your posts it seems I've just been baited like a fool.
It was the same Neil Fox on caller ID. She said she'd send a form to fill out to receive the 2 checks.

Hello,

My name is Mark.  I am not associated with Finders Keepers at all and do not know them.  I just wanted to point out what they do is not a scam.  They offer a service based on a contingency fee, meaning they only charge a fee if they get money back for you.  If they do not get money back, there is no charge.

They charge 15% because that is the amount the law in New York State allows.  Every state has different laws, most allow a 10% fee maximum.

Yes, you can easily do this search yourself and claim the money yourself.  Finders Keepers are playing a numbers game because after so many people say "no", some will say "yes".  There are plenty of businesses that use middle men for things you can do yourself.  Travel agents, real estate agents, etc. are middle men that you do not need, but they makes things easier for you.  This is the same thing.

I also want to point out that even if you do not use them, in most cases you would not have known about your money if they did not call you.

I have a website, http://unclaimed-money-finder.net that shows people how to look for their unclaimed money for free, but also gives you information on becoming an unclaimed money finder yourself and getting paid finding money for other people.

You don't need to be rude to do it either (as people have mentioned the guy Neil is).  You can be pleasant and outgoing and make people feel good about getting their money too!

Same exact thing happened to me.  The person on the other end said it was Citibank regarding money left in an acct owned by my deceased father.  However, my caller id showed a "Neil Fox".  If you are going to run a scam at least be smart about it!

Well listen to the Doctor I am a very busy dr. and they did plenty of work for me on a few occasions and I WAS VERY HAPPY with their work.

Don't write negative stuff unless you have a gripe or they took any money up front. Finders Keepers does NOT take a penny up front and ONLY works a small COmmission of 15%..

If you want to run around and do loads of paperwork then keep yourself busy but if your a dr or busy person they are great!!!!!!

You don't need these people.  Just check every year or two on the sites for each state you have lived in, check your name and relative's names.  My husband got royalties from his deceased dad's name from when he moved and the check didn't get forwarded and he got his mother her state tax refund from when she moved and it didn't get forwarded.
All he had to do was print out a form, fill it out and mail it in to the state with copies of some supporting information.

I got a call and a letter. They did not ask for a ss#. Been on the unclaimed funds site. I don't have any money coming. This is a scam. I don't believe in smart phones for that reason. I only use a land line and people can leave me a message. I will not talk to anyone if I am not at home. More people should realize this. A smart phone also tracks peoples movements. BEWARE.

Shill, no need to pay any money up front. You can search for unclaimed property for FREE by going to the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators NAUPA website http://www.unclaimed.org/  that will simply direct your search to your state gov's unclaimed-property webpage. And state gov websites are already paid for with taxpayers' dollars so your searches are all FREE.

Tell me, what brings you to this site?  How did you find us?

This is a complaint site.  Most people find this site when they google a phone number that has been harassing them. Is that what happened to you?  How did you, a busy physician, discover this site?   Did you google the company?  Google the phone number?

Or did Finders-Keepers pay you to come here?

I am a physician who got a call from Finders-Keepers and was a little suspicious of the intentions, but felt, I am very busy and don't have time to track down this money that he said I am owed - over a thousand dollars - and what do I have to lose?  So I let him get it for me.

Two months later he called me and said he had the check for me but that he needed payment by credit card over the phone before he sent it to me.  I decided to take a chance and told him I was putting it on my Amex.  Amex is very good if there is fraud - and I told him this - so if I didn't get the check by overnight mail the next day (and by the way, he offered to do this on his own), I would reverse the charges on my Amex immediately.

Sure enough, I got home the next day and there was the check.

Finders-Keepers made my life easier.  He was very business-like, efficient and kept his word.  If you are busy and don't have the time to chase your money down, use this service and you will get results.

My brother got a call from these people a couple of weeks ago saying that my health insurance owed me money.  I just got the paperwork today...turns out, as far as I can tell...it's the same money that I already got back after I had received a letter from the NYS Comptroller's office, telling me they were holding funds for me....I went online, made out the paperwork, and received the check for the funds about two weeks later.  DON'T bother with these people!!!  They probably troll those sites and get names and address.  If you think you might have money somewhere, go to your state comptroller's site yourself and check.

The company is not a scam. They do take 15%, but they will collect the money and it requires less leg work than it would if anyone were doing it themselves. Anyone who suggested they were a scam did not use their services. I did use their services and I received multiple checks for myself and for my parents. If you don't want to give out your SSN that is fine, but to defame people who are doing a job becuase you are suspicious of them or don't like their attitudes is unacceptable. Again, the business and the 2 individuals running it are not scammers, they are just business people. People are entitled to get paid when they do leg work for you.
