STOP calling. I do not have any account with National Grid and do no even live in NY. I have called back 3 times now asking for my number to stop being called...only to receive another call the same day.

Left msg that it is an "important call" from Nat'l Grid. Call Mr. Blah blah M-F between blah blah...
At the end, a voice over says, "...Colonial Gas Company.."
They have called many times. Always leave the same message. Never any mail or email.

Non-stop calls to my work number.

All, I think this is part of the scam that A.G. Martha Coakley is going after. What I heard is that the collection attempts are being made and, they are asking for payment over the phone via CC or debit card. National Grid has stated flat out that they do not collect this way for (our) privacy reasons. If you have any questions whatsoever, call National Grid directly at the number listed on your bill. I do not have a home phone, only a cell. It is registered with the National Do Not Call List.
Someone sold a cell phone data base with my number on it. I can think of only 2; Verizon Wireless & Google. When I find them, they are going to pay!

Thought that..so weird..I live in condo unit so you would think they would call leasing office..they're all over the place.

Pretty sure it's a scam. Just had the same problem - a call from 718-403-6900, always a woman who leaves that message to call Mr. Flynn.
I never picked up until today, and she's left messages for several months. She was in a busy call center where I could hear a lot of people in the background. They said they wanted to replace my gas meter. I rent, like someone else who already posted on here, so I was abrasive and put up the same question about deferring to my rent management. She gave me a time window for tomorrow from 12-6 (wow it's never that fast in real life). I was still skeptical so she gave me another number - 18009228201 - to call because I was skeptical, though I asked her for one in order to cancel the appt. She said she was Elizabeth when I asked her name. She knew she wasn't quite hooking this fish and wanted to get me off the phone.
I called the SAME number back. I had to wait a few minutes. Some guy finally answered. When I asked about any scams they have going on, he said they didn't have any scams. Then asked if I was in NY, and I told him no, in MA. Then he asked me to describe the call I got, which I did, and then he said 'Oh yeah they just need to replace your meter. They need to do that once every 5-7 years. It's required by law and is no cost to you.' He was able to see when they had called me before and named one of the dates. I asked if it was possible to see when the last time it was changed. He said March 2007, when I wasn't living here.
The whole thing is BS. That guy probably works in the cubicle next to hers. I think he pulled that date out a hat. Just like how 'Elizabeth' pulled that window frame out of a hat. It's so over the top phony!

Yup National Grid, calling from 718-403-6900
Requesting to call back at 718-403-1176
About the payment I made using their web site.
(I usually called-in to pay by voice, via my checking account)
The web site didn't post my payment yet, so they called to confirm I paid, (I did, in Feb)
The Rep said the site is having problems posting the payments correctly, and he said to pay the next payments by phone again, until they find what's wrong on the web site.

This number called me before 6 am in California.
They call on my cell. I have a private number no one but family and a few close friends have it.. I do not use their gas as other people have stated as the reason they call. We have propane and no gas meter. I didn't even answer the call. I won't answer the cell if I do not recognize the number calling. That number has called me twice.

wont stop calling !!!!!!!!
Hey 2013-08-29 17:57:04 Unknown
The calls are generated via computer so they don't look-up your number and call you. Becuase of the calls being made from the computer it is not very easy to call out. The computer has on your gas account that the meter reached the 5 year - 7 year mark and needs to be changed. If you live in Massachusetts then it is state law to change the meter. Unfortunately, they need permision by the person on the gas account to change the meter and relight the gas appliances. I agree that they should come up with a better system, but it will suck one day to wake up and you didn't have gas because they took the liberty on their own to change the gas meter. So it is a good thing that they call but not as crazy like they do. The gas company is trying to ensure everyone safety but agree that their has to be a better system in place to try to make these appointments. But keep in mind when changing the gas meter they do have to shut off the gas about 30 minutes and then relight all the gas appliances.

I received a phone call on my cell phone from 718-403-6900 today. When I answered they quickly hung up.

They've called and left voicemail on two straight days. As renters in MA and with no service contract with National Grid, they're simply annoying me. And how did they get my cell number?

Yana 2012-05-18 16:59:47 Unknown
tired of their phone calls. every day, sometime 3 times a day. especially in the morning! even after i called them back and told them nicely not to bother me anymore because i don't live in private building and have no access to the miters and their representative told me that i have to contact with my landlord(!!!!!).i was shocked! this is not my job. if they were able to find my number they should be able to find landlord's number or send someones over to inspect building ans speak with super. they did stop calling me but only for a little while. problem is still unsolved. would like to make a complain but don't know how.

This is a legitimate call from National Grid. Not telemarketing -- they called to confirm an appointment I have with them tomorrow.

at least 2 times a day. 60 calls last month. to remind me about change my gas meter. and i forget every time as soon as i hang up the phone....
ROBERT GALLAGHER 2012-03-09 21:06:54 Unknown
The number is evidently legitimate as the 800-922-8201 number is, indeed, national grid. I telephoned them. There is a policy of changing the meters every seven years. They need the resident's phone number to identify the customer account because the original call is a VOICE MAIL and they need to pinpoint the location of the meter.
ROBERT GALLAGHER 2012-03-09 20:47:37 Unknown
Within ten minutes, this call chose a different strategy. There was a voice mail from 1-800-922-8201 re a "required meter change" that would take 45 minutes. I will not return the call.
ROBERT J GALLAGHER 2012-03-09 20:41:04 Unknown
This number left me a voice mail re changing a gas meter. I have had no problems with my gas meter nor have I asked for help. I have no intentions of returning their call. Thank you for this web site.

I think it's clear that this number servers a variety of purposes for National Grid, and not all of them bad. Robot called me tonight to remind me that they're coming to replace my gas meter tomorrow. Nothing worse than that, except that it's now called to remind me twice within an hour. Thanks. I got it. No more reminders, I'm good.
