Yes I saw on our company's called ID that this call was made at 2:30AM, which means this a** is trying to annoy people...... CALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT......if he has middle eastern accent.....MAYBE HE IS USING THE PUBLIC PHONE THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE...or just purposly harrassing people, didn't leave voice mssg.

They call all the time. I do not answer and when I hit redial it's a busy signal.

Do not call 212-929-3444.  You call every day while I am at work and it messes up my answering machine.  I have reported you to do not call already.  Cease and desist calling my number

A heavily accented man says hi how are you today? Claims he is calling to save me half of my long distance charges. After a big hassle he transfers me to a supervisor to record the conversation. This man has better English, they were going to charge my ATT $5, I hung up. He's called my business 6 x today. What a pain!!!

The parent company for this and many other numbers is MCI Metro Ats, Inc.  They have a profile on Manta.com as a crank calling company.  They have also listed themselves on Yelp.  Leave a review!

Answered the phone and after a looonnnnngggg pause, this fellow says "Hallo, how are you doing today?" in a thick Indian accent. I reply "Just !@#&(!@ wonderful, now start reading your script..."

Without missing a beat, he then proceeds to read his script, which starts off by saying "I am calling from your local phone company...' at which point I rudely interrupt and say "Oh really? So just what phone company would that be?" "I am with your local phone company..." "What company is that?" "Uh, errr, uhhmmm" to which I replied "You're lying!" and hung up...

THIS NUMBER CALLS REPAETEDLY NO ONE SPEAKS WHEN WE ANSWER MUST BE BOGUS

Oh, wow...did THAT telemarketer call the wrong place. I'm in a bit of a "mood" today. I answered the phone to long silence. When the caller finally said hello, he asked, "How are you doing today, madam?"

To that, I answered, "Oh, I'm just terrible. I just found out I'm pregnant but it's not my husband's baby. He worked off shore on an oil rig for two months at a time and I just get so looooooonely. So I had sex with my neighbor. NOW I'm pregnant and don't know what to tell my husband, because he's good at math and will know the nine months don't add up."

To THAT, the caller hung up. I LOVE jacking with these a-holes!!! For the record, I'm not preggers and would never cheat on my husband. :)

11 CALLS  from (718) 514-9983   in less then a week  asking about my utility and then they had the gall to call back in less then 2 minutes saying they are contacting the FCC  /FBI / NYC police that I was abusive

I am on the 1-800  DO NOT CALL but these low lives never stop the   harassment

I asked them  to please remove my name over 14 times and yet they continue to call constantly

It is a disgrace    how the US Government regulates legitimate companies but allows these scum bags to keep harassing citizens and then threaten us when I told them drop dead

got a call from this number, man said he was with Centurylink and I was getting a discount on my bill. I just needed to talk to his manager and say "YES" hung-up and called Centurylink, they said it was  a fraud.

got call from them today, they claim to be able to lower Con Edison Electric Bills, and that I was chosen "specially"   because I use so much power, and they can help me get lower bills.  Told them I am a NYSEG customer, and he just kept going.  I told him I was on Do Not Call and he just kept speaking.  Very very aggressive.  Big Big scam to get personal information.

Some indian sounding guy from City Power and Gas would not take No for an answer. He just kept going on and on about saving me money. I told him to put me on your do not call list but still went on and on. I'd like to put my foot up his freakin a**!!

Call came in to my personal line at work. Caller ID said 1st Ave Machine. Guy with heavy Middle Eastern accent said he was calling from AT&T to inform me my long distance rates are being reduced. He said his name is John Weker (yeah right). He said in order to complete registration for reduced rates he needed to fill out the discount form with my company info. I asked him to give me a call back number so I could have my supervisor call him and he hung up on me.

They called and did not say anything when I answered, so I hung up.  
Caller ID:  "1ST AVE MACHINE" (very strange).

This number (possibly a payphone in the Bronx?) is probably being spoofed by a call center in India.  These crooks are pretending to be the phone company, the electric company, or the gas company.  Obviously they are not from any utility or legitimate company.

Do not give them any of your personal information.  Hang up immediately and report them to www.donotcall.gov.  

Add this number to your phone's address book under SCAM or block the number if you have that capability.

I GOT A CALL FROM 718-514-9983 CALL BACK AND ITS ALWAYS BUSY

Annoying! Never leaves a message.  What is the purpose of these calls?  They come in daily. Would like the harassment to STOP.

I just received a call from the phone number 718 514-9983. Steve said he worked for City Power and Gas. Hi had a thick middle eastern accent, I could barely understand him and there was terrible static on the line. He said it was not about switching service but he could save me money. I looked up the phone number while he was on the phone and read this thread. I told him he was trying to scam me and hung up. He did not have my name, he asked to speak to the person who paid the bill.

Hope he does not call back.

This is a scam. Please beware, do not give them any of your personal info no matter what they say to you. The company comes up on Caller ID as1st Ave. Machine the phone number as shown on Caller ID is as follows 1-718-514-9983. They will continue to call you if you pick up the phone because they know they have reached a working number. I would suggest just letting it go to your voice mail and I also strongly suggest reporting this number to your local states attorney office. Just google your states attorney and go to their website and print out the complaint form, fill it out and mail it in. The more people that take the few minutes to do this the faster this company can be repremanded.

Same situation others have reported--the number shows up on my caller ID but no message was left.  I call back and no one picks up the phone.  Verizon tells me I can block a phone number, but I have to pay for that service.  Will hope they just get tired.

They have been calling throughout April and May, when I finally picked up, I gave the person on the phone a whole bunch of incorrect information (name, address, etc...), let them play with that "Fake" information for a couple of days.  Have not gotten any calls since, so I am assuming that they have moved on.......!!!!

Got call from this number yesterday and today, nobody there when I answer.

I received a call from 718 514 9983 (name on my caller ID was 1st Ave Machine).  The person who called kept trying to talk to me about my electricity service with Commonwealth Edison.  I stated 3 times that I was not interested, but he kept trying insisting on having me listen.  I stated I would file a complaint because he would not accept the fact that I did not want to listen to his sell.  I also told him that I worked for an energy company so I am fully informed on my options to switch.  After I became more upset he finally said he realized I did not want to talk to him.

Yeah, I got one of these calls too. Thick accent, sounded Middle Eastern, young male named "John" offering to lower long distance charges. Also claimed to be with AT&T.

This number has called our businesses main number numerous times over the past three month. Our system is normally answered by a computer prompting the caller to dial a specific extension or to wait to for a tone to leave a message in our general voicemail box. Since this number never left a message after calling about a dozen times, I was curious to see who was at the other end of the line this time. So I picked up the phone and quickly said only our company's name, nothing else and heard nothing but silence for close to 20 seconds, before a young sounding male voice answered with "Hello", but only once waiting for me to say something. I said nothin., He said nothing then hung up after ten seconds. In the background I could hear numerous muted voices similar to what you might hear when speaking to someone at a call center. Very strange this cat and mouse game they like to play and I am sorry I have no other details on this annoyance.
