I've had several phone calls from this number. All I do now is hang up without answering. I get calls from Arizona, and I've had about 30 from Jamica phone number starting in the 887 865 and so on. Must be a way to stop this but I've reported it and it seems the government can't do anything about it.

Yep, Verizon filed a patten for a Dvr last year that has a camera in it to watch you while you watch TV, so it will custom tailor commercials you see that matches what you are doing, ex. cuddling with your wife or GF/ or if you have like 5 people over watching a football game, it sees you and everyone that's in the room and reports it to them
look it up, it is creepy as hell.
this was on NBC and is on their website. just to let you know, if you want to look

Umm, gives new meaning to "smart phone", doesn't it? Glad I don't have one. Sure would hate to be spied on by a phone......

Some of these phone calls (SOME) are designed as spyware. Sometimes, all you have to do is answer the phone and they will be able to still listen in on you in your home even AFTER you have both hung up the phone... i'm not saying that that's what this particular call is, but there are plenty of instances of this happening.
Many in the military, for example are forbidden to take their phones into certain meetings because of this very reason - the phone can listen in on you.
But njoy the freedom while you still can cause there are PLENTY (if not all) devices lining up in the R&D board rooms getting ready to listen in on you regularly (even while you sleep) and even watch you WHILE you watch TV.
I'm not a paranoid person - i just follow tech trends and it's ALL coming as clear as day.
Do a search for 'Verizon Files Patent for Creepy Device To Watch You While You Watch TV' for example or 'Your Smartphone Is Listening To You' and you will see what i mean.
Just know this... if this is getting ready to come out as a mainstream feature, just know the tech has been around for quite a while, so don't discount the fact that these phone calls you are receiving are not meant to listen in on you where u may be.
... just sayin.

they called and left no message, tired of their calls!

More than likely what has happened to the majority of people who have received these phone calls is that they have registered their phone number while online even to a secure site yet a data tracker on their browser set by an advertiser got their data. A lot of these advertisers sell your information to others. They do not check any references of companies operating outside the U.S. Now that's the legal way your info is sold when you click on agreements for many software downloads either online or by disc.
Now all the crooks out there also have a means of using advertising and common redirect software to copy, track, sell, and share for free. Yes they commonly share your info for free. This way they do not break international laws as obviously. If you have your phone connected through your computer then you are their main target so they can access your computer then just start ripping your financial data then drain your bank account.
Best advice. Contact the FTC, that's the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC is the authority we the people empowered to deal with these cases. You will be given a tracking number for your case file. Second contact the FBI yes the real FBI. This is now where you should report your complaint and concern along with your FTC case number. These case's involve international law. Your local police are only going to help in maybe less than 0.3% of these cases because almost all 99.7% are from outside the U.S..
No matter what you should tidy up your computer and run good antivirus software and add software to monitor your browser so that no one can track your data. Typically 71% of computers I clean up are not even set up right in the browser controls. The default of these programs track your log in info along with any forms you fill out online. Turn off these features yourself. Yes you will have to fill in your info every time you do something but laziness has a price, so don't ever allow auto fill programs to be enabled.
Also depending on what browser you use most have "Add on" or " Plug In" features that can over-ride a browsers' ability's to track your activities. The world leader in data tracking is Google. They also loose your data faster than anyone in history. They created this mess with their lousy programs that were morphed into what you have today. All search engines track data. Set your browser to delete all data once closed.
This is just the basics, so good luck getting the authorities to do their jobs, clean your computer up or have someone who is qualified help you out and teach you what you need to empower yourself.
This is also for your smart phones and any device that you use to access the internet.
You should never shop on a phone it's just plain ole stupid. The device is years away from being secure because our government and all others require or will readily create devices and software to hack you data so you must protect these weak security links from those which desire to exploit them.
Good luck to all.

I received a call today (Thanksgiving) and they actually left a message. They wanted to sell a 'male enhancement' supplement. They thought they were talking to me but they were talking to my answering machine because they were waiting for an answer to a question that they asked.
Jim 2012-11-15 20:48:01 Unknown
Same here, and I have several numbers that do the same thing.
I think it is telemarketers? I ordered do not call added to my phone and it finally stopped after three months.

We have gotten calls from this number numerous times. We have asked them NOT to call us anymore but they ignore what we are saying. This is becoming a real nuisance to us. They keep saying they got our name because we were interested in their product but this is NOT true and we asked them how they got our cell phone number and they don't answer our question. We finally have to hang up on them.
blasian 2012-10-08 14:39:23 Unknown
This company been calling me for 2 months at odd times of the day. I tell them to take my number off and they still call. I dont know what else to do so I think I will join poster above and prank them too.

Non identifiable number, so don't answer! Why do you all?
Joe 2012-09-25 13:30:18 Telemarketer
Yes I get alot of these phone calls and I been on the do not call list since inception before the telemarketers got the cell phone lists so the do not call is a bunch of bull crap it is like they have a right to call you as many times as they like just like getting junk mail in your mail box they also have a right to keep sending you junk mail it is like the consumer has no more rights anymore and don't give me the BBB crap they don't do anything either they just say that we will look into it and the telemarketers just keep calling all day long even at 11:00pm e.s.t at nite and its useless to yell at them because they just hang up on you and call back 15 min. later and verizon will just block a few and then charge you for the rest of the blocks but the telemarketers just get new numbers and just start over again. there needs to be a law against this so the only solution that I can think of is write or e-mail or call your congressman or congresswoman and complain to them if they get enough complaints from ALOT of people then they may do something about it it is election year this needs to be brought up to CONGRESS level you as an american citizen have rights and its time to voice those rights. I am just one person but if you are reading this and feel the same way then DO just that voice or write or e-mail congress and hopefully something can be done. One voice doesn't mean anything unless more get involved thank you for your time in reading this and please get involved because thats the only way that I can see anything happening in passing laws against these telemarketers from constantly calling YOU.
concerned 2012-09-24 18:43:09 Unknown
If that's that's the case, then why is it they hang up after putting me on hold for up to 10 minutes when called back?
Big G 2012-09-18 03:02:48 Unknown
Oh Man... Yea I have been getting these R-Tard Calls.
Crazy hours, Countless times a day... flat out uncalled for... no pun intended.
I too installed a blocker app on my smart phone. I am not sure what to tell those who are using a standard phone. I would have to say try the link for the company no call... which I have my doubts about. I worked for MCI years ago and even if you were told not to call back and remove the number... and say the telemarketer was kind enough to follow thru the computer would still dump your number back into the pool.
all else fails... bombard your Congressman. HAHA
Hopefully one day there will be harsher punishments for such crappin companies.
Thanks for reading.
Best of luck to all.

No one else reading this page can ''take these numbers off'' anything, much less your "cell". Your caller cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. Your caller does not maintain this site or this web page. You will not get compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller, if possible.
