My phone call did not come from this number, this time he blocked it (usually I don't answer those, but sometimes my doctor calls from "unknown").  The call I got is following suit of all the posts above.  A man with a very thick accent, and a bad connection--almost sounded like he was calling from a satellite phone or something--asked for me by name, said that he was from American Financial and my loan application had been approved.  When I told him that I hadn't filled out any applications, he said something about putting it on hold.  When I said "NO, I didn't fill out any applications", he said that he was going to put it on hold, to have a nice day, and hung up on me.

I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent. He jumped into his script about saving me thousands on my credit card debt and when I asked him if we had a current account with him he got irritated and rude. I told him that we were on the do not call list and unless we had a current account with him, he should not be calling me. He yelled at me and said "What do you think I am calling you for?" I told him that I suspected he was either soliciting me for something or a debt collector and since we are current on all accounts he must be soliciting. He yelled something else and hung up on me. I am thinking this is a total scam.

I have received several calls from this number.  They call while I am at work and
do not leave messages.  I have checked the American Financial web site and
found the following information:

This is potentially another place to report?  I would report  first to the Gov. website.

i did recieved a call a call from this people and hang up and they called 4 times and treat me that tey are sending people over to my place... i call the FTC and reported them. FTC also suggested to call the local police and i did. They said that if they ever called back i will get the info and call the FTC again and they will do the action...i would suggest everyone should do this please this is scary for people with turkish accent threaten you...grrrr... help people...

A jerk named Dave from the American Financial Institute called to harrass me and when I hung up on him he called me back to ask why I did that? I told him I was reporting him to the BBB and he hung up

I have been getting the same calls.  I called AT&T my service provider because I had been calling everyone else without any help.  AT&T put a trace on my phone so the next time he calls they told me to press *57 and they will trace it from their end and they will definitely catch him, so you need to call your service provider.  Oh, and I also been blowing a whistle into the phone to blow his eardrum out.  I believe that is why he has not called me in a while.

These are the same scammers who also use the number 518-472-9927.  Report and block their number, tho it is probably spoofed.  They are abusive, and I would assume some type of identity theft ring.

Same guy called me with the schpeel about credit card debt.  I politely said, I'm not interested in what you are offering, but appreciate your time, he responded with, "What are you answering my questions for then @$$hole?!?!"  I returned the pleasantry and hung up on him.

This jerk with a thick foreign accent called and asked for my daughter, by name. When I said she was not here he hung up.  I tried to call his number and got the telephone company message that it is anot working number.

this man has called three days now and calls 2 to 3 times per day.  I have asked nicely

Called me March 23, 2010 around 11:30 am although I didn't answer. Loads of reports on the net about them being abusive and "offering" help with credit card debt, though. Caller ID just said NEW YORK. This might be a continuation of the junk phone calls I've been getting ever since I made the mistake of asking for insurance quotes on GoHealthInsurance.com back on March 5 (starting a few minutes after logging out).

We have received calls on this number as well as 718-547-3397.  Who are these people and how do we stop these calls?

Next time just tell them to "hold on" and "you'll get whoever they're looking for".  Leave the phone off the hook til they hang up.  Keep doing it til they get the message.  Works for me since we never use our home phone. If you need the phone, maybe more of a pain than it's worth.  At least I feel like I'm somewhat of a pain in their necks instead though. :)

Today, 3/26/2010 I received a call from American Financial 718-547-3397 The caller had a foreign accent and inquired about the debits I have. When I told him, all was taken care of he became very abusive and started saying "F--K you, I'll keep calling back your an A--Hole jerk" I hung up and checked the caller ID for the number. I called it and it was a non-working number. I then reported it to the Atty Generals office 1-800-771-7755 I hope they get this creep before he swindles someone out of their savings.

I received the same call.  I was polite about it, but I told the woman that I was on the Do Not Call List. She told me that I was stupid, and then hung up.  

The stupid comment made me want to report them, especially after seeing everyone else?s comments.  I did a reverse look up on the phone number and paid $5 for it, which was worth it for me.  From what I've found,  I didn't see a business associated with the phone number, just individuals names. The Do Not Call website requests a business name, so I provided the information that I had in the comments.

The only way to stop these rude telemarketers is if enough people complain about them. The Do Not Call website said that they may be subject to civil and/or criminal penalties. Here's the website, you should be able to click on the link.

I recived a call from caller ID, Bronx, NY. The man asked for my wife. I told him she was not at home and asked what it was about. He was telling me how I could save money with a debt reduction program. I told him I was not interested, he would not hang up so I was forced to haung up on him. He called back 6 more times. I asked to be removed from his calling list and he said he could not do that. The last time I asked him to hold on for a minute and I put the phone down and he avetually hung up and didn't call again. I am going to look into filing a complaint with the NYS Attorney General's Office.

2. Write letters to the NY ATTORNEY GENERAL

3. Write letters to your state Attorney General

4. File complain with the FTC.

Caller ID said "New York" ... no response when I answered the phone this time ... have received calls from "American Financial" before, different A/C and number with similar heavy accent, abusive language, etc. as reported above...

I just received a call from this phone number, since I don't know anyone in Bronx, NY I did not pick up.  I am glad I did not judging from what I have been reading.

This person not only is a fake but he cursed me out as well!!!!!!!!!!

I have been getting calls from several different numbers.  They are probably using MagicJack, so there is no way to tell where they really are calling from.
