Don't live near or in NY so the FDNY has no reason to call me. Haven't signed up to join either. Tis the season for scammers preying on the unwary.

Dont asnwer this call, its a bogus way for them to get your personal information and other pertinent information.

Stated on the voice mail that they were FDNY--Too many times and than get cut off

My son was talking to them and tried to schedule a tutorial and was cut off and they didn't call back :(
and of course now we have no way of getting in touch with them

This is a fraud number that request FDNY candidates SSN #. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A FRAUD AND YOU WILL HAVE YOUR UDENTITY STOLEN.

Hey guys, it's a company that schedules a tutorial class for you. Each person taking the test is allowed to schedule 1 tutorial class, it is legitimate; the classes are free. Even though you can't call them back directly, they're just trying to help you out.

Could be them reminding us that our test is coming up at the end of the month

Also got a call from 718 701 8148 as did my brother i missed the call cause im at work.  Tried calling back they just pick up and hang up ... who got this inof? dishearting

Also received phone calls from this number since 3/9/12.  My son is registered for the FDNY test.  Someone called, asked if it they were speaking to Dan, then said "excuse me, there's a problem with your FD information, I'll call you back." and hung up.  He tried calling the number back and keeps getting a recording stating they are not accepting phone calls at this time.  Very annoying

I've been getting calls from this number since the weekend(March 9) about 3 times a day. I also am scheduled to take the FDNY test on April 8th. When the call comes in, I answer and it hangs up on the other end as soon as I pick up. I call back and the phone picks up and after I say hello, the call drops again. Weird.

received a call from this telephone number they asked to s/w the person applying for the fdny test.  
but when i called back someone picked up and hung up... i did this several times and i was unable to get connected.  this does not seem like it's ligitamate

Hey, thanks for the info on your caller ID, this makes sense that it is the FDNY Recruiting center calling. This number was calling me for the past few days I didn?t answer and when I Googled it, crazy things were coming up like Indian debt scammers and such. The number is a Staten Island phone number, and you are absolutely right the FDNY recruitments process did end a few months age. The testing did not begin and/or  though; I am registered to take the exam. I also remember reading on FDNY?s Facebook Recruiting page that they will be calling everyone who registered to take the exam for some sort of testing tutorial. They also said that it?s a possibility that some scammers have been calling and do not give your social security number to anyone over the phone because the legit recruiters will not ask for it. Next time they call I will answer it, if they start asking for personal info I won?t give it and hang up, if they just want to set up a date or something it is actually a legit FDNY phone call.  Anyway, your post helped me, so I hope this helped you. A call originating from this number came in at 9:16a today, march 13, 2012.The caller ID read FDNY Recruitment, I hit redial and got a recorded message saying "due to network difficulties my call could not be completed at this time."

I happen to know that the FDNY finished recruiting several months ago and wonder who would be able to get a phone number using that false or misleading caller name.

Numerous calls over the last two days. Really annoying.
