They called 2 times in like 30 minutes time periods, then the next day, I got a random call from a 3133 number with no other numbers and apparently it is also suntrust.

Scammers pretending to be SunTrust.  They will tell you that your card is locked and to unlock it you have to give them your card #.

i just got a call today from an automated system saying suntrust mastercard have been close due to fraud and i dont have a suntrust acct i immediately call suntrust thinking that someone open an account under my name.... so becareful the number is 386-506-8504

Commonalities: Verizon customers in Knoxville. I got the same call, twice, last night. I'm with Verizon, in Knoxville. I think Verizon's the problem . . .

I got two calls from this number on Dec. 9, 2010 at 7:30PM and 9PM.  Did not leave message, but I did not answer the call as I did not recognize the number.  I do not give my cell phone number out unless family or close friend.

Got the same message tonight. Last night had a call that showed up as "02" on caller id, so I didn't answer and no message was left on my voice mail. Tonight I got the SunTrust call. Since I've never had a SunTrust account, I hung up. And yes, I'm a Verizon customer in Knoxville.

Also in Knoxville, also got a call from the 555 number and the 718 NY number, but I'm NOT with Verizon, I'm with AT&T. Seems like I'm the first here to have a carrier other than Verizon. Although, I used to have Verizon and carried my number over to my AT&T account a few years back.

I got the 555-555-5555 number yesterday as well. This really worries me as a verizon leak.

Just got the same kind of call from this number.  Last night I had another strange call that only showed up on caller ID as 02....wonder if they're connected.

It must be a Knoxville thing because I am in Kingston, TN and this number has called me twice tonight. If I do not recognize the number I usually don't answer the phone but I always do a search on the internet. I can't imagine how they got my number. I certainly hope someone at Verizon isn't giving out our numbers.

I am a Verizon wireless customer. I received a call this evening from 718-887-9161 and did not answer it since I didn't recognize it.  Yesterday evening I received a call that my called ID displayed as 02.  I thought that was odd and so I didn't answer it, either.  There definitely seems to be a connection here between being a Verizon customer and living in Knoxville.  Glad to see that the local police may actually be working on this.

my husband got a call about nine last night from this number saying "it was Suntrust bank and my visa card was locked , press 2 to get sercuity dept." he hung up. then tonight i got a call with the same messages. called the knox county detectives and they said  there were a lot of complaints about these calls in this area and to call 215-2455 and report the call during normal business hours, i also have verizon phone service.

I received 2 calls from this number tonight.  That is why I checked this site.  My phone is Verizon & I live in the Knoxville area.  Definitely the connection between all of us, I think.  I also had the 555-555-5555 yesterday, but thought it may have been some kind of Verizon thing.  Sounds like our Verizon numbers were comprimised.  I am going to notify Verizon.  I'm sure I won't be the first customer to contact them about this.

Same issue.  Called from a 555-555-5555 number the other day, today called with the number 718-887-9161.  Don't call the aforementioned number for the police department; call the detectives at 865-215-2455.  I have Verizon also.  Quite possible there is a link.

It may be a tie-in, as I also have Verizon & live in the Knoxville area.

I am a Fraud Manager at a bank and I just received a call from this number as other posts have described.  This is fraud!! Do not give any personal infomation!

I got the same call today on my cell phone.  I don't have a Suntrust account of any kind.  I tried to call the numbe back just to see if anyone would answer; the electronic voice answered and said the mailbox was full and no other messages could be taken... imagine that!

Same issue - Suntrust debit card. They have now called our office over 30 times in a 2 hour span.

i got a call last night from this number at 9:46 pm & my husband got a call yesterday or the day before too, stating that his Suntrust account was locked. we've never had a suntrust account, but we do have verizon, just like everyone else & we have knoxville numbers although we don't live there any more.

me too i think someone hacked verizon and got this areas cell numbers from verizon, im not trying to be a racial profiler or anything the the men listed above on the 3 addresses that a listed the last name is zerib sounds foreign

This number called me on dec 7 at 9:30

718-887-9161 called me at 10:54 PM on Dec. 7, 2010. Didn't answer the phone. A few days ago, someone called my husband. Caller ID registered as "2." Didn't answer the phone that time either.

Got a call from this number at 11:17p to my business cell phone. Since my phone charges in another room, I didn't hear the call nor did I answer it. Thankfully I found this site.
FWIW: I am in Knoxville, TN and my cell service is with Verizon. Not sure if there is a link.
Also, it seems that lately I've been getting a ton of out of area calls. I usually don't answer them as my business is 90% (or more) local consumers only
Can we please get a law passed that 'robo-calls' are illegal. If you can't hire a person to actually MAKE the call, then don't bother me with your pre-recorded message.

I got a call from an unknown # at 1:23pm today...didn't get it in time.  At 2:33pm I got another call from the 718 # with the same message about Suntrust bank and deactivated cards.  At first I thought it was a prank since the automated voice was poorly done and reminded me of those popular you tube videos.  I was telling some friends about it at work tonight.  I decided to call the # back in the middle of the night to see what would happen...I got an fax machine.  My cell phone is with Verizon...what about everyone elses?  Could it be they hacked the #'s from Verizon?

The same number called me today @5:30pm. I was at work, so I was not able to answer. Did not know the number, so I done a reverse and this came up! Called the number back and it sounded like a fax machine!
