I get a call from this number, as well as a FL number, and WA, and CA, and Washington DC, and 2 other NY numbers, and an 800 number at least 20 times a week and 10 on weekends. When I asked to speak to the supervisor I was transfered to a guy named Esteban or Emilio or something. He said he was from "...marketing group" (he said the name before he answered the phone). When I asked him to repeat it he stuttered out "D-d- degree Options?" and hung up on me. Tried to call back and the number is disconnected and not working. I have NEVER applied for any college assistance programs or "HELP ME" ads. I am a recently separated veteran, and the only thing I can think is they are on resume sites gathering phone numbers from there. I am going to file a complaint with the FCC and would like some other people who have recieved this call (or one from ANY OTHER area code) to do the same. IT IS HARRASSMENT. IT IS ILLEGAL. WHEN ASKED TO STOP THEY JUST START CALLING FROM ANOTHER NUMBER.

Got this call. Didn't leave a message.

I ignored the call, then called back to get Kelly from University Degree Options. This is a direct result of a phony job posting on Craigslist.org in which I was directed to a 3rd party "application information" type site. At the end they catch you with the question "Are you considering furthering your education?" with the a subtitle to the effect that companies are more interested in employees who want more education. Naturally I clicked yes, as I didn't want to be disqualified, and then it hit me. Page after page of information blanks, but only after I forwarded them my entire resume, personal home/address/email and work history. In the past 4 weeks, I have received dozens of calls from other numbers that seem to have stemmed from this pile of fake job ads.

This number, 718-924-4972, is an escort booking number for Flushing, Queens, NY. They advertise on Village Voice Backpage. Lady on the phone is probably a scam artist. Directs you to address where payment is demanded in advance. Suckers hand over the money and lesson paid for in cash. If you see this number, your man probably called for services. Joke is, he got f****d (not sexually). Hope this helps people who are getting calls from this number in 2010.

yeah right. i TRIED that, half a dozen times, each time told i'll be taken off the list after saying no, i'm not interested, i have a degree. and guess what, weeks later the calls, six or more a day, are STILL coming in!

Called me 3 times today. first call shows up as 'caller unknown' on caller i.d. and no one is on the line if you answer (except static), then that call is followed an hour or so later by another call that shows up 'new york' 718-924-2742. then a lady answers and asks is this ......, then i blow a loud whistle in the phone. same thing happened again 3 times today, same procedure, except calls came from california 408-876-6341. i am retired and have plenty of time to play their silly games.

Same thing happened to me. I called back and there was a long pause of silence and then a lady (who sounded like she was from India) picked up saying "Ashley, thanks for calling" and asked if I was interested in furthering my education by going to college. The funny thing is that my number was blocked and I called back 4-5 hours later! I told her no and she hung up on me. I called back to tell her to take me off their list and she said okay and hung up again. I was trying to ask how they got my number but she had already hung up. After that, I didn't feel like calling them back again. Hopefully it ended there..

HAHAHA. I should try that. Say that I died in a car accident and see what their response is then.

Casandra 2009-08-06 18:34:44 Unknown

i never got a call from this specific number before today, but a few months ago a different number (actually, it was various numbers) called me asking for erika. there's no one here by the name erika, so after a few irritating calls, i pretended i was erika. don't ask me how they fell for it...im a guy. i talked to someone for ten or fifteen minutes about online classes. i told them i was interested in mathematics. after mentioning several unrelated classes that they had, they finally admitted they had no classes in which i wanted. we said our goodbyes and i haven't heard from them again until today. my was talking to my friend about it and she said to pretend that i was erikas father and tell them she was dead. i think i'll try that.

They called and asked about my college plans. If I was still interested, what I wanted to do and my age and stuff.
After I told her my age she said something about I will sort things out and call back. o.0
I had no idea what the f*** was going on at the time. And I thought it was harmless.
I mean I've been looking for a job everywhere so maybe that's why.

I responded to a Craigslist ad for accounts payable clerks at a law firm, the so-called law firm never called, but the online turkeys did! It's just a scam to collect names and info. NEVER again!

Tired of this number and other numbers calling me also on both house and cell phones...how can it be stopped?
almcbee 2009-03-11 21:45:05 Unknown
I know! I've got my resume posted, so I want to answer all these calls I don't recognize in case it's a potential employer. Glad I found this before I called them back.
Katie 2009-03-11 21:28:10 Unknown
I too have received a call from this number. In fact, they just tried called me about 2 or 3 minutes ago.
That would make sense. I posted my resume online and ever since then, I've been getting calls from strange numbers. Some only call once and never again, other call all the time. It gets really annoying.
