I have also had calls from these people. Do you ever notice that they can hardly speak english but they use very common names? I have had a George Williams, John Smith, Jack Jones.. These people are sick. I wish there was some way to get rid of them.
I answered the other day and flipped out on them, the man told me I was to be arrested in 45 minutes. I told him to "Bring it on"!!

I had the same call come in, by the same name and office. I have been getting this calls for months. Everytime different people and different law offies, bascically saying owe them for a payday advance. Bullsh**. I dont owe anyone nothing. So day this call was more instresting, because the lady actually had my social security number, which now has me worried. In the past I have report them to the federal bureau and invistigation, by website. I have been online for months researching and finding that they have been scaming people all over the world. My question is how are u guys getting our personal information, and how have u guys not been caught by now. I hope they get caught soon, cause this is very irriating. They have called my jobs and cell phone with all type of different numbers. I just hope they get caught and spend the last days of their live in prison, for fraud..SO BEAWARE..DONOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THIS PEOPLE OR GIVE UP AND PERSONAL INFORAMATION REGARDING YOU..I REPEAT THIS IS A SCAM A FRAUD BUSINESS AND THEY HAVE PEOPLE ON THIS WEBSITES, VOCHING FOR THEM MAKING IT SEEM LIKE ITS LEGIT. try to respond to as many of these posts on here as I can to spread the word, but I dont get them all so please help me and help spread the word on this website if you can, about these Indian scammers.  (just watch the homepage of 800notes.com and look for people asking questions about people who identify themselves in an anglican name ((john smith, Will Turner, a normal american sounding name)) yet sound vocally like their name should be Muqtada Al-Sadr or something similar).  These guys are Indian Scammers based in India.  They use VOIP or prepaid cellular to make it appear they are in America when they are really not.   Unfortunantly the BEST advice I can give you, though its not always feasible, to make this stop is to change your phone number.  Ive been thru this same thing and its the ONLY thing Ive been able to do that actually works.  Just wanted to let you guys know and wish you luck in dealing with these scammers!  By the way, these guys change their numbers all the time (a frill of using spoofing, VOIP or prepaid) so just because you get a different number DOES NOT mean its real.   Stay smart, my firends out in cyberspace..ONLY deal with someone willing to MAIL you!!!

I received 4 of these phone calls in the last 2 days. Googled the number and company, they were supposedly calling from. They had told me if I did not call them back, they were going to send their investigating team to my work/home. They also stated I was a criminal in my state. I called the number back, and they answered the phone "hello." Now if this was a real law firm, they would have said the name of the law firm when they answered.  I did a google on all of the info I had, and contacted the fraud hotline. The company stated that I took out a payday loan, which I did not, and if I did not pay it, I was going to be sued. The fraud number has had alot of complaints about this company, they did put me at ease and tell me it is a scam. They were individuals with heavy Indian accents. The law firm they said they were with was Lathum and Watkins, did a google on that too, and the real Latham and Watkins has a list of all attorneys on their website.....

o anyone who may read this post and TO EVERYONE THAT RECEIVES CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER :  This number is supposedly attached to a one "Sharon Johnson" and also supposedly is the main number to the law firm of  Lathum and Watkins" with an address of 365 E Grand Ave  Los Angeles, Ca  90072.  When I called it this afternoon, a very thick accented Middle Eastern man claimed to be a lawyer for Lathum and Watkins.  Long story short, he would only speak his name so quickly when I asked that it was totally not understandable.  In an angry and upset tone of voice, he gave me the above address.  When asked for the main number of the law firm he would not provide it.  When I asked for Sharon Johnson, he refused to transfer the call until he was talking to the person who the delinquent account was the person they were speaking with.  by the end of this conversation, the person I spoke to who supposedly was a lawyer with this law firm was yelling at me and would not even take my address as a place to send all documentation and then proceeded to hang up on me.  When that happened, I knew I was not speaking with a law firm on the west coast, I was speaking to a scam skank.  First thing I did was google Lathum and Watkins to verify the info given to me.  It was  close but not exactly correct.  I then called the number on the website for this law firm  and was finally connected to a Mr. Phillip  Beeney who found the information I had optained to be VERY EXCITING.  He thanked me for calling the law firm and telling them about what was happening to their good name.  

The following is his recommendation for any further calls coming from this number.  In a very calm , even tempered, and polite voice inform the caller that the law firm of Lathum and Watkins has been notified and they are investigating this situation and will prosecute to the fullest extint of the law and parties associated in a very obvious scam.  He then said to inform the caller that the law firm instructed you to just say good bye and hang up.  Then just hang up.  Phillip said that if the calls became a nuisance or worse, to call your phone service provider and report the numbers and have them blocked so the calls would not be completed.  For the time being until actual people can be arrested and prosecuted, that was about all we could do.

i got a call from officer addams. he also called my job.i have no warrants, in any state.i think its bu***hit. the cops come to your door to get you not call  your home or job.

To everyone posting about these calls...Please be aware they are fake and a fraud they change their numbers so they don't get caught.  I've had two calls from these people in the past and they are just trying to take money from us. I've already filed a complaint with the FTC ( federal trade commision).

I've been getting calls from these people on my cell and at work. Threatening me and harrassing me, I felt it was suspect because the man is saying his name is ben johnson and another saying his name is officer anderson which is bull because he has an accent sounds like they are hindu, I'm sure there is no ben johnson or officer anderson where they are from. I'm glad I found this site because I was getting nervous. Is this illegal? Can anything be done about this? When these jerks called my job they called over and over saying they are going to tell my supervisor about this, I was so embarrassed. I work ina bank so there is no extension so my co-workers and my manager where answering the phones, I had to explain that I had no idea who these people were and that I did not know what they were talking aboutmthis is so crazy how do these people have my information

i jus picked up a msg on my work cell from an officer michael jones who says he's from the united states crime bureau. he states that im gonna be arrested monday, i think he said after 12:15 or maybe he said 3, culdn't understand him...strong accent. said i culd reach him back at this number if i didn't want to b detained but there's no answer n no voicemail. said something about something filed against my name and ss#. wondering wat this is about. very worried i have 3 kids, 1 is a newborn, and i am the only one working right now...i am my families financial support. need some kind of info. plz

Got a call from Officer Michael Jones, 719.219.1029 said I have a legal case against my social...This is a scam and do not give them your info.

I got a call from this number also, stating he was an officer.  However because I'm aware of major scams going on, when he asked me by name I told him he had the wrong number. He asked my name, gave him a false one, he asked if I knew this person, I said no I'm sorry I can't help you.

Who are they and how do they get away with this!!  If these people really do have your information, please contact the credit reporting agencies (Trans Union, Equifax, etc) and place a security block.  Call your bank and place a security block.

Lastly, report this fraud to the real police.

i have received the same threatening calls. I know it has nothing to do with my wife. trying to track down.

So for a week now I've been getting these calls.  I finally talked with someone last night about what they claim I'm going to be arrested for.  They are very rude and very threatening.  Totally ticked me off.  I went home and called the State Police Dept because the number is from out of state.  They advised me to call the State Attorney Generals office.  I did and spoke with someone today about it and was told they are aware of this scam.  I gave him the number that keeps calling and he said they will do some more investigative work.  He advised me to just ignore the calls.  So again, today i've received 4 calls and the last one was a message stating he is going to send a fax to my manager about my being arrested.  So, I've blocked the number on my cell and home.  I also called the Attorney Generals office again.   I'm sick of this harrassment.  Who do these people think they are?

They call me from time to time from this number as well as several other numbers.  This is a scam, I fell for it out of fear and embarassment. It cost me almost $3000.  After I paid the amount they told me I had to pay to avoid being arrested, these kinds of calls kept coming to my cell phone and to my work, so I felt I had no choice but to consult a lawyer.  She couldn't believe I had actually paid these people $.  They are offshore companies that have bought your personal information from a payday loan company (in most cases).  It is the largest scam out there today.  Tell them you refuse to talk to them and tell them you would be more than happy to have your attorney contact them, they will hang up on you....they will call you back from time to time pretending to be Officer So and So from the crime bureau, but DONT pay them any money and dont worry about them doing anything..they are doing something illegal, not you!

I just got a call today, this john matthews threaten me that he is putting an arrest warrant for  300 payday loan, i asked to give me his web pages he refuse, he wanted me to pay 986.00 dollars and he said he was recording my conversation i said okay, he said you need to pay or you will go to jail, i talk to a frind of mine from lapd and he research and all of it is a  scam, don't fall for it, tell them okay what time shoul I spect the police to knock on my door. they get very upset with that, i said that and he hang up on my.

This person called me today and said by tomorrow I would be arrested for $300.00 i owe. when I asked about who it was to, he wouldn't give me any information. He had my social, address, and everything! How can I find out what this is about?

be very careful i got a call today on my cell phone showing up as 911 and it was him calling me!!! he wont give up until he gets his money. he is a crazy perverted lier!!!

i ma tired of recieving calls from all different numbers such as messages as this sayninf i have charges against me  and i need a lawyer and other things to scare me. ive reported other number to the investigating team here im in my state. they are working on stopping this matter. if you want to be real send out a letter first with proof. then call but you are fake. to many know this

Last year I got a call from the same people, claiming I owed money and could settle. Mr John Matthews. They harassed me at work for 2 days then i filed a police report and the cops called them and they stopped. Tonight at work out of the blue I got a call again, this time (Same name) Jon Matthews but from the US Tran Bureau. Said a committed a cyber crim sect. 1391??? Threatening me that a warrant will be issued by 11am for me tomorrow. Wouldnt give me any details, damn joke. My friends a lawyer so I hope he calls back tomorrow plus I reported it to my local police again so they have it all on record. Indian accent, gets real nasty when you dont agree and yet tries to be professional like "can i record this". Need to catch this Jonhn Matthews guy. Best thing when I said he tried last year he told me someone must have used his name to try and scam me! HA!

What exactly is your "Department"? DHS? FBI? DoD? Because the Crime Bureau does not exist. You sir are just a douche, I doubt you even have any affiliation with the scammers what-so-ever, you are just a troll who goes to sites to stir up others emotions. Get a life you @$$hat.

My story is pretty much the same as all the other ones, except my wife got a voice mail from them and I called back from my number after hearing the ridiculous voice-mail. The "Officer" changed his name about 3 times during conversation told me He was going to arrest me and needed to record conversation to play in the "courthouse". I asked him which courthouse and he said "what do you mean?" I asked for his badge #, as all Federal Officers have one, he would not answer - he just kept asking for my name which I would not give him. He then told me "He always gets his man", I laughed at that bad movie line (especially since it was in the hilarious accent). Needless to say I called 319-790-7000, which is their phone carrier, and explained to them the fraud which is being committed by one of their customers. The gentleman took the information and all of the aliases "Officer Jon Matthews" used and sent it to his management. So here's hoping that the company has some decency and shuts the number down... at least until they get another number.

i am jus wondern since you work in the legal industry what are the steps to go through before they arrest you if this was a legit thing. i have been receiving these phone calls since friday, i have never been to jail or in trouble with the law except for a traffic violation and i am scared. i have 3 little ones, from newborn to 3 yrs old, and i don't want to be blowing this off as a scam only to find out that its not. watever info you can give me will be greatly appreciated

This has been going on for over a year. I have taken a loan, but DID NOT DEFAULT. I know it is bogus, but it still gets me upset. They have called my sister and brother, there is no way to stop it except by everyone changing phone #'s. I don't think they have the entire social # so DON"T give it. ASK them TO GIVE YOU THE SSN#.

Another 7 calls today. using the name John, with debt collections dept. When will it stop? I also contacted my local police department, but said there isn't really anything that can be done! Isn't this a form of fraud, impersonating an officer, threaten people, harassing phone calls, take your pick, there should be a law againist this. If the President was receiving these types of calls, I bet it would only take an hour to find out who and where these calls are coming from. why don't we matter just as much?

 Is it not true that this is more of a "civil" matter (collection of debt) than a "criminal" matter??

 Is it not true that they cannot jail you for a debt?? (unless it is huge)

 Is it not true that they broke the law by uttering threats of jail??
