I took the survey and got the call about a winning gift card and a no pressure demonstration- too good to be true? Yes. I smelled a scam and looked up C and K research and all these comments came up!. I cancelled the appointment. I am a widow on a fixed income and buy my vacuums at a thrift store. Not interested!!! Dratted scammers! I also am on the do not call list.

Number came up as unavailable. Operator claimed my husband answered the survey (he says he did not) and knew a lot about us, e.g. address, that we have a pet, etc. Said we had won and wanted to send their driver around to bring it to us right now. All we had to do was to give feedback on their product. I said we weren't going to be available. I bet they call back.

Thanks, other posters for warning of this scam.  "Solar Wavs" called, didn't leave message.  No message, no answer, no hassle.  End of story.

My husband filled out a short survey at our front door to win gas. So they called ,unknown number, saying we were selected to go on for the grand prize also and that if we would allow an air purifier salesman to come by and do a short demonstration we would get a gift certificate of our choice. So the guy came, I asked how long the demonstration was, he said 30 to 45 minutes. I gave him 30 minutes. It was for a Blue Wave vacuum. It worked amazingly well with lots of impressive features. And it has a two generation lifetime guarantee. He was polite and knowledgable. We weren't going to buy it at first but he took $800 off the price and it is so versatile. It does purify the air also. And it's American made. The certificates were grocery coupons, that you have to print off, a vacation package, that you have to pay your way to get there, and a $500 shopping card to this crappy website. The shipping is just as much as what the item would cost at a store near us. We might use the vacation package. All in all we got an amazing vacuum out of the whole ordeal.

I got a call from Solar Wavs 1-719-258-1703 and came here, saw the phone number for Silver King (800 864 1658) and called it. The lady told me she had never heard of Solar Wavs. I told her they were C&K Dist/Rsch she said that was an independent distributor that sold their vacuums. I told her about the scam and she said they were doing legitimate surveys which were legal since they were not trying to sell anything "over the phone." She wanted my name and phone number which I refused to give her (I am sure it was on her caller ID). Silver King is part of this illegal scam. Calling them does no good except to complain, which likely will not help.

What they are doing is illegal and you need to report them.. while some survey's are legal and not covered by the DNC, this type is not covered since its a survey done to sell you something with a "oh you won" come on..

Same exact thing happened to me todayI got a call from this company tonight 11/07/2013, a phone call from Colorado Springs Co showed on caller ID, 719-258-1702  Caller claimed it was a 60 sec phone survey about allergies. Asked if I'm a smoker, pets, marital status, year of my car, if I own or rent, etc.  I answered questions and was told that I'd be entered in a drawing to win.  Today I received a call from a different number, 719-258-1702 (Solar Wavs on caller ID) and was told that I had won a vacation + $400 certificate for an online shopping site and that someone would come by my home to deliver the prizes BUT that I need to watch 1/2 hr demonstration of the Air Purifier 2000 and complete a survey.  Caller said someone is in my area now, they could come by this evening (anytime 6:30-9:30 p.m.)  CREEPY!  They're calling from Colorado but someone is in my area (Grand Jct)  I told them no, they can call tomorrow but I would look them up online first. Caller gave company name as CNK Research. I googled CNK Research online and this site came up at the top of the list (with many complaints).  It's apparently a sales company (or worse) posing as a phone survey company.  I'm on the national Do Not Call list so I filed a complaint online at donotcall.gov.

I received a call from these guys.  Thought about why I was getting a lot of these calls lately.  Did you know that the DO NOT CALL registry needs to be updated every 5 years?  Do not go to the site to update your number now as the GOV'T IS SHUT DOWN and the website we used is a GOV'T site and you cannot access it now but you need to update it every 5 years.  Just a head's up for those who might not have visited it in a while.

I received similar calls from different numbers.  Told last caller I wasn't interested; told her Obama supporters probably needed $50 gift card more than I did.  Both young ladies were very nice but who wants to endure an in-home sales pitch for 50 bucks?

Thanks for the 800 #.  I received a call from "Air Research" at 719-368-6905 and got roped into an appointment this afternoon.  Then I started looking on-line and decided this didn't seem like any kind of legitimate research.  They wouldn't answer the number that was on my caller ID so I tried this 800 # and asked them if they were associated with Air Research.  They were.  I told the woman that I wanted to cancel the appointment and that I wasn't comfortable with any of this.  She was very polite and cancelled the appointment and took me off their list.

I am on the Do Not Call List, but somehow they got through on 2/26/13. The caller identified himself  as working for CLK Surveys or something like that. The Caller iD said, "Solar Waves" but that is a Tanning Salon in Colorado Springs. The number is  719-258-1708. They said they were a research company and had a short survey. I started answering some of the caller's questions, but got creeped out and stopped him. Then I hung up. Please try to put a stop to them.

My husband gave in and participated in the phone survey.  The next day they called back and said we were "WINNERS" and if we would agree to preview a BRAND NEW PRODUCT (air purifier) that they were doing market research on, NO SELLING INVOLVED, and fill out a survey of our impression of the product, we would be awarded a $500 GIFT CARD.  We agreed to do it, and a guy showed up, came into our house, unpacked a SILVER KING BLUE MAX VACUUM CLEANER.  He spent the next 2 1/2 hours telling us how filthy our home was, and how we HAD to have this vacuum cleaner, which costs $3750!  But wait!  If we finance it today, ONLY TODAY, he can let it go for $3250.  No thank you, please leave.  But wait!  They only allow this once per quarter...If you pay cash today, I can give it to you, this demo model since I used it in your home today (this thing was filthy inside) for $2250.  We finally had to get ugly to get him out of our home.  The Company that called us originally, per the caller ID, was Air Research, and the phone # is 719-368-6918.  They are scammers and flat out liars.  There was no air purifier.  It was a sneaky, lying, underhanded way to shoehorn their nasty salesman into my home to pitch this ridiculous product and try to insult us into buying this vacuum.  We filled out his survey positively because he was extremely creepy and made us feel very uncomfortable; we just wanted him to get out.  So, here is what REALLY happens with the "research" they claim you will be doing: Blue Max, shamefully sends a salesman over to an unsuspectting home owner's home to be given an impressive demonstration of an extremely expensive vacuum. ($3750) We did not ask for a demonstration. We were called by a research company saying that our name had been selected and we won a gift certificate for $500 to spend on line. We were also told that a person would deliver the certificate, and would only be asking for us to preview the "new, never to market product", to fill out a survey about an air purifying system. We would be previewing this air purifying system, and they just wanted our opinion about it. What a scam! In reality, we were roped into a 2 1/2 hour demonstration that ate up our Saturday afternoon!!  This slimy salesman was insulting, pushy, and made us endure this demo. And then if that was enough, to add insult to injury, he hands us the certificate for $500, and it is all made in China junk on the website. Oh, and you have to pay a shipping cost PER ITEM. So you have to PAY a huge amount of shipping (I filled my cart with $500 of merchandise, and it was going to cost $319 to ship it all to me!?!?!?!?!)  What a lousy company is the research company that roped us in initially, and how lousy is the "Select Your Gift" company to redeem your bogus certificate, and really how great can anycompany be if they use such slimy, deceitful practices to sell their grossly overpriced vacuums. This is a clear BAIT AND SWITCH pack of lies.  DO NOT FALL FOR IT!  I will be filing a complaint against both companies with the BBB and the Governor's office of Consumer's Affairs.

Same as everybody above--If I had researched online before the appointment, I would not have made an appointment.  My husband was home for the meeting and when I told him about the online information--he went outside our door-met the man in the driveway and told him   "WE ARE NOT INTERESTED, PLEASE DO NOT CALL US AGAIN" .  My husband turned around and walked back inside and the man left.  I asked my husband, What did he say?  He said, ""O.K."" and left.

Anyway, sometimes I wonder why I get into these kind of situations.  Repeated stupidity, maybe!

No, I'm kidding, I guess we all are looking for something "free" to make our day brighter.  We should know by now, nothing is free.  There are so many scammers and misleading people in the world that we know you have to be very careful.  I would dread the day that someone got my personal information and pretty much could destroy your life.

Please be very careful----Protect your life and family.

Got the short survey call.  They ended with the question about our brand of vacuum cleaner.  Said we would be entered in a drawing.  Later got the call saying we won a $300 online shopping spree gift certificate.  No phone number came up.  I tried to find out if this was a marketing scheme or a real drawing.  Woman said that only 20 people a week out of about 1,200 are selected as winners.  She gave the same story about someone in the area coming by to demonstrate a new filtration product.  All they wanted (for him to get paid) was our response to a questionnaire about the product.  I asked if there was a shipping charge for items purchased online.  She said, "No."  With less than an hour to lose, I said ok.  Man came and gave 1 hour presentation on a $3245 vacuum cleaner worth about $700.  We said no (of course).  He gave me a $500 certificate with NO FREE SHIPPING.  He said they increased the amount of the award to help pay for shipping.  I went online to the gift store:  www.GoShoppingMall.com  The store only has about 250 items total.  Each is way overpriced (which is fine if shipping is free), but the shipping is virtually equivalent to the price of the item locally (or more).  Examples: 3 golf balls - shipping $4, travel mug - $11 shipping.  Bottom line, they lied about free shipping, the survey was merely a "filter" to find potential dupes (customers) for their vacuum cleaner i.e. whole home cleaning system.  Very deceptive.

Wow, call from them and it sounded fishy like the Rainbow sales people. I told her my husband was a police officer and it flustered her a bit. She said i needed my husband's permission to have the salesman there. OK. Like I would let a creep in, I don't care how they are dressed. These scams are almost as bad as the calls from overseas. Shame on Americans pulling this on other Americans. I know the job market is bad, but still. Thank you to all who have posted here for having a moral compass and warning the rest of us about our "winning" phone calls.

Got a survey call from the number indicating they were doing a survey for the city where I live.  A week or so later I received a followup call indicating I won a $300 gift certificate, just needed to be home with my wife to complete a short questionnaire.  Said it would not take long, just needed to review the product.  I told them to come by during the day when I was home, but they insisted my wife needed to be here.  I got suspicious at this point and declined.  Turns out it was a good decision.

I got the call. Had the guy come out to my home. He was very nice and showed me his product. He asked me IF I wanted to know the price of the machine. I did.... and I purchased it. I've seen all different types of cleaning machines out there, and this one seems to be the best. And it's AMERICAN MADE! So far I can't believe how well this thing works. I am truly a satisfied customer. It's nice to see a company building a quality product these days, rather than just a throwaway piece of garbage. The showing took a little longer than the 30-45 minutes, but that was because I was asking so many questions. LOL
By the way, I have NO affiliation with the company, except as a happy customer.

We have been receiving calls from what is listed as Solar Wavs about doing a short survey.  They talked about the contest we were now entered in and the would call if we won a prize. When they started talking vacuums, I hung up. The same calls have been coming for 719 248 1711.  We are also on the DO NOT CALL list.

Same thing happened to me. "Quick survey" 2 weeks ago, call-back just now (7/17) about prize of 300 / vacation won, all obvious B.S. Very professional sounding girl on the phone. She wanted to make an appointment to get "the brutally honest opinion" for the product, which I instantly presumed was a vac, and I told her I was too busy this week to see anyone and to call back Monday. She complied. When she calls back I will let her know that the news is out about their company. We live in the high desert and already own a powerful vac because we have a dog and lots of flying sand in this area. No need for another one and from the sounds of it in the other reviews, the "prizes" don't sound like anything I want to waste even 1 minute on. Interestingly, the number did not show up on our caller ID at all, it came in as "Private Caller" but it was definitely the same company as she said the name was C & K Research in Colorado Springs. We are of course "only" 3 hours from CS, so it didn't seem that unusual that someone would be in the area this week. However, this is a very low income community, so for them to want to sell vacs for these prices here - completely ridiculous!  BTW, we are also on the DO NOT CALL list and still get tons of solicitation calls. That list does not work either.

Thank you for posting what happened!

I just got this 'winner call' today.  I regularly do legit surveys, but in hindsight the word winner or a personal delivery never come up. The legit ones hand over a real check. Live and learn. We will be going out to dinner tomorrow might during our scheduled time.

Shoot, if they were honest and just said they wanted to show us a vacuum I might have really wanted to take a look. Sneaky boogers!!

Live and learn.....
